A House of Representatives panel yesterday called on Nigerians to demand for the resignation of the minister of finance, Kemi Adeosun, and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, for mismanaging the country’s economy.

Chairman of the ad-hoc committee set up to investigate the N700 billion bail-out funds given to some state governments by the federal government, Rep Sadiq Ibrahim (APC, Adamawa) made the call yesterday following failure of the duo to personally appear at the committee’s session.

The committee also called for the resignation of the Director General of the Debt Management Office (DMO), Abraham Nwankwo.

Adeosun did not send any representative, but Emefiele delegated an executive director in the apex bank, Umar Abubakar, to represent him, while the DG of DMO was represented by Oladele Afolabi. But the lawmakers rejected the representatives.

“The attitudes of these top government officials show who is mismanaging the economy of the country. Nigerians should rise up and call for their resignation immediately,” the lawmaker said.

The lawmaker added that “If it is to bring virement, they would rush down, but now that they are to come and explain to Nigerians how the bail-out fund running into over N700bn was disbursed, they are sending representatives; they are only interested in borrowing. This has to stop.”

Other members of the committee who spoke at the session lamented the absence of the trio, describing it as unacceptable in view of the quantum of money given out to states as bail-out.

The committee therefore directed the three officials to physically appear before it and provide all relevant documents on the bailout funds.

In fact all of them should resign, from Buhari to the ministers, every one of them. They are all incompetent and Nigerians have totally lost confidence in their ability to rescue this country and its economy. We can't continue like this. angry angry angry

If these two were not managing the country well, who will?
It is apparent that the reps are either dead to the world or brain dead..

If the govt can still maintain their luxurious lifestyle and still pay allocations to states, even in this time of recession that is but in the whole world, the same which has made Venezuela a joke, made UK increased call taxes and sacked workers massively, made almighty Saudi Arabia decrease workers salary by 20%, made south Africa the second largest economy after Nigeria, trampled Egypt to dust, then our reps are finally certified idiotz.

We know that most of them including those who'll support them only watches Africa Magic, if not, they wld understand that those two are managing us as easy as the Money we make..abi, how much barrel of oil were we able to produce after the Delusionists that are hoping for Biafra, started blowing up pipelines like psychopaths?

And if its about the dollar to the naira... Then I know, they just wanted the access to forex...their boys at the bereau dey change are out of work!

Is there any evidence of misappropriation or incompetence against them by the house of thieves?

The only reason the reps want the duo sacked is because they refused to honor the invitation but sent representatives...

See as u dey murder English. Small time u go follow shout Buhari is a dullard.

Reccession doesn't happen over night, the stage was already set before now. And it takes time to pull out from reccession. And Nigeira being a mono economy highly dependent on oil which have crashed, probably never to rise again, will take a while to successfully pull out.

These guys just disgust me. They are "calling on Nigerians to demand the resignation of Emefiele and Adeosun" huh? What happened to their own tongues and mouths??

I am calling on Nigerians to demand the desolution of both the HoR and the Senate because they've been totally useless to the people and constitute a huge drain on our meagre resources.

These crooks sit for less than half a year but receive a year's salaries with full benefits yet have the nerve to point fingers at others. Their yearly salary, it was calculated, would take someone on minimum wage 2, 700 years to earn!! Even Metuselah didn't live that long!

Nonsense.
