I am on Band C Abapower. The current tariff is around 190 naira per kWh. It should be higher for higher bands.
In as much as I commend the improved power supply, what is being charged per kWh is very expensive

Metering is what every power distribution is giving ,no region in Nigeria that is band A that is not enjoying light now
I don’t know what OP is bragging about. I’m on band A, I don’t live anywhere close to Abia and I’m enjoying 24hrs power except when there is interruption due to thunderstorms
Re: What I Noticed During Mass Metering In Aba by jmoore(op): 6:15pm On Nov 05, 2025
Reference:
The way the newer smart meters work I think there is a possibility that people can choose the bands they want, that is the number of hours of electricity they will get since these meters are remotely monitored and can be remotely turned on and off.
The wire is not wireless. You can't have band A while your neighbour downstairs is on band D.

Impossible.

Where did you see bragging in the post?
You are one of the reasons why Nigerians still write IELTS to study in UK.

Most houses in my area are on prepaid, so whenever we have power issues, they resolve it in 30 seconds. Shows these electricity companies know what they are doing.

God bless Otti!
Do you stay in Aba?

The post didn't say this is the first time Aba had prepaid meter.

Una low level of comprehension is pathetic.

Fact: No disco has 100% prepaid meter coverage.

I believe these are teething problems.

Eventually, the prices will come.

Also, it isn't prudent using eletricity to cook food. It is symptomic of something wrong.

I don't need to move out from my region to know that 5,000 megawatts can never be enough for 180 million Nigerians.

The post I made was observation of how people are managing their power usage when connected to prepaid meter.
But some of you guys for reasons I can't tell will always love to open mouth waaa!

God bless Alex Otti.....this man has single handedly transformed Abia state in less than 2 years of governance. This is what good and sincere leadership can achieve. Abia state is no longer the dirty state without direction....its now the leader in good governance and quality leadership.

This is a bit of what Nigeria would have enjoyed if Peter Obi's mandate was not stolen in 2023. God will show mercy sha, its well cry cry

Currently, there is mass metering going on by Abapower as the company wants to connect every customer to prepaid meter.

Most people are turning off the bulbs that is outside.

Electric stoves have been packed in cartons. In fact, any trader that deals on electric stove in Aba should better change strategy cos it is no longer profitable to sell electric stove in Aba.

Secondly, there is improvement in power supply in areas already covered with prepaid metre. Reason? Darkness is automatic loss for the power company. The era of people paying for darkness with estimated billing is gradually being phased out in Aba.
..how can I get one?am not currently in ABA..is it for free or paid?

The mass metering is free. I think Abapower posted the feeders that are currently benefitting from the mass metering on their facebook page.
