What I Noticed Happens To My Prayers When I'm Fasting

I noticed it's really difficult to pray when i'm fasting, especially when I've gone beyond the first or second day of dry fasting.

However I also noticed is that if I'm able to persevere regardless amidst the difficulty and pain and still keep praying, i end up praying much longer than I normally pray.

This was something i first noticed during several midnight prayers.

Usually when I'm not fasting I will hardly pray more than 3 or 4 hours without falling asleep. Highest 5 uninterrupted hours.

it's profoundly hard to stay awake throughout without falling asleep in the middle of the midnight prayers.

However when I was fasting I found myself on several occasions being able to pray from midnight til day break, that's about 12am or before that til past 6am or 7am when the day has become bright.

I found it strange at the time because it wasn't normal for me, but somehow I would just find myself after I start praying from midnight, continue praying and praying until the day begins to brighten outside, even when I didn't plan or expect to pray for that long.

I just seemed to find a strength from somewhere which makes it possible for me to do that which was usually impossible for me to do when I wasn't fasting.

I already knew that fasting helps to achieve results that prayer alone can't, however i didn't know that fasting could also help improve one's prayer life until I learnt this from my own personal experience.

This happened once again during a recent 3 day dry fast I just broke yesterday, hence thought I should share so it could be a blessing to some here, including those looking to give their prayer life a boost.

You can try adding a little fasting to your prayers and see how it goes.

Fasting is great when revelation and direction in needed in life but we must remember how the Bible teaches us to fast in Isaiah 58 and according to Jesus word to keep our fasting life private and secret from others while being at peace with them. 😊

What exactly are you fasting and praying for? 5 hours prayer, 7 hours sleep, if you use 2hours to eat three square meal, and 1 hour to dress and bath, 3 hours to commute yourself to and fro to work. what time do you then have to work. The world is building A.I systems you are praying for 5 hours... I hope its not money you are praying for because salvation doesn't need 5 hours prayer

How do you pray for 3hrs non stop not to talk of 12 to 6am. The day I go pray for 2 hour straight, I will give testimony for church.

This is quite the myopic take. There are many jobless people who have never prayed for 30mins straight. The lengths of your prayer has very little to do with your joblessness but more to do with your discipline, time management and goal.

What do you say for 3-4 hours? Your life , your spiritual journey . But i am just curious . If I have to ask same things from my earthly father for 3-4 hours straight , na harassment be that . I have not experienced God in that manner. I speak quietly and ask Him . I also understand as a father myself that sometimes the things I am praying for may not be in His plans yet for me . So after I pray I wait and Listen to hear .

It does not make sense bro... God is not deaf and 5hrs of limited time just to talk to talk to God. But Jesus will just say something and it will happen immediately. He also told us we can do better

As an introvert, wetin I dey do with praying for 5 hours? Am I praying for everyone in my state?

I was expecting to see that you healed this or that person.

I actually opened the thread hoping to read that your prayers apparently received more answers when combined with fasting. But you seem to be all about praying as an end in itself, hence the need to make it longer.

I'm not saying you're wrong though. Just sharing my feelings on your post.

I hope you will also fast for 40 days and 40 nights. Once you're done, then probably also try getting crucified like Christ was.

You're a man of little faith. This is why you think punishing your body and denying things for yourself, will make you right with God and enable faster answered prayers. This exposes your abject lack of faith, which is the essential requirement for christians.

The only importance of fasting in your life, is health wise. It helps to burn excess sugar in your body and allow the body to clean up and regenerate dead cells.

Fasting has no spiritual benefit to anyone. Don't deceive yourself. And if you think you have to punish your body this much before your God can hear you, then that is a wicked God.

You got little faith bro, that is why you will be repeating words, prayer points for 4 hours.

Oga you didn't come to life only to pray, you come to life to experience, why are you praying for 5 hours. What exactly are you praying for 5 hours straight, state the reason why you have to pray for 5 hours straight , is it for wealth or salvation? . I don't even think Jesus prayed for 5 hours straight every day

If this 5 hours straight is a morning prayer, that means you would pray from 6am till 11am you no get work ? if it is a night prayer , that means you would pray from 9 or 10pm till 3 am , you no dey sleep ?

10 year old boys are building machines in china , you dey pray 5 hours. I just don't like some set of people i'm sharing country with.

That's too much, and I don't really give in to longer praying hours, if it's consistent.

Sometimes, my spirit might be energized...and I may not know i have spent time on praying.

As for the fasting aspect, there must be a reason for the purpose...and crucial for me is the prayer point(s) that my deity releases for me to focus on.

Oh sorry, this is a Christian page; anyways, as a traditionalist, and those of the other religions, we still have some things in common....FASTING & PRAYER.
