Nigeria just pulled off the biggest act of economic rebellion since independence — and the West is not happy. While most people argue about fuel prices, something deeper is happening: Tinubu quietly ended the 40-year subsidy drain that bled ₦7 trillion yearly. Dangote built a $20 billion refinery that can refine 650,000 barrels daily, ending our dependence on imported petrol. Nigeria’s GDP is set to expand by $25 billion, and Africa’s fuel bill could shrink by $60 billion. Meanwhile, the U.S. and Europe, who once sold us refined products are watching their market disappear. Trump’s latest speech on Nigeria hides behind religion, but the real anxiety is economic sovereignty. A black nation controlling its own energy destiny. Yes, there are labor issues, union battles, and billions owed to Chinese constructors — but that’s what revolutions look like: messy, loud, and unstoppable. 🔗 Read the full breakdown on Substack: [https://open.substack.com/pub/theafricansignal/p/trump-vs-dangote?r=5v63zm&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false] |

MgbakorUche:25 billion is chicken change. Dangote buys crude from America and sells. Nobody cares about some damn refinery. Nigerians in Texas are putting pressure on senator Ted Cruz to act on their behalf. Ted Cruz in turn is putting pressure on the us president to act concerned. If the terrorists kill 100000 people in Benue tomorrow, the us will do nothing because it does not care. This is just a pressure campaign; nothing more. Black country with its destiny that negotiates with killer bandits. Wake up!!!! |

Some Nigerians are just sooo intellectually lazy that they can't be bothered to take out the time to do basic research. The author of this post should know that since the beginning of Dangote refinery operations, the United States has been its major crude supplier. Some components of that refinery, were fabricated and assembled in the US before being shipped to Nigeria. The United States remains a major destination of the refinery's output. If the United States wants to seriously affect dangotes refinery, it has powerful and clandestine tools at its disposal for that. |

Technology the world is phasing out is what you think Trump is after? Even when Nigeria was importing heavily, most of the petrol was from Asia, and some low income cheap European countries like Malta that could compromise on standard to meet the demands of Nigerian market. Does the refinery provides electricity to plants and houses? Energy needs of Nigeria for 200 million plus citizen can only be sustained with a nuclear reactor which Nigeria can not achieve or get approval. Without electricity, no industries so what's the clamour about? Trump is not here because of dangote refinery that's not even worth the cost of some hotels in las vegas. Certainly some global politics in play which also the Christian genocide has set the proper timing to engage, these politics we can only guess and postulate. |

kokoA:If you read the untold stories of the USA 200-300 years ago, you’ll know that’s how they started from owing 3.8billion dollars, to been a creditor of over 60 billion dollars all because they rates themselves and made a fortune from the world wars, infact there was a time the USA felt it was their destiny to spread democracy and civilization across the globe, this was a time the USA was no bigger than Nigeria in gdp been a majorly immigrant country. If you no rate yourself, who go rate you? |

MgbakorUche:No doubt the Dangote Refinery is a game-changer for Nigeria. However, concentrating that much refining capacity in one single location is a massive risk. Any disruption—technical, security, or otherwise—could have devastating nationwide consequences.. |
