If the military can do this to Wike, how much more will they handle other civilians like most od us.
As long as the military is concerned, a civilian remains a bloody civilian.
No respect.
No. The only reason why military exists is to defend civilians. Soldiers are paying the ultimate price everyday, even now as we speak. The least the civilians can do for them is to accord them respect.

Took his hand out of his pocket out of respect when speaking to a superior. I am almost sure it was subconsciously done. Anyway, Wike should go and rest ehn.
Re: Wike Called The Chief Of Defence Staff During A Heated Exchange With Yerima by AngelSlay: 7:37pm On Nov 12, 2025
Wike’s reaction, especially calling the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on the spot, shows he’s assertive and unwilling to let bureaucracy slow him down. However, the optics matter — confronting a uniformed officer in public and ordering them around can come across as disrespectful to military hierarchy. The armed forces operate on strict chain of command, so a minister bypassing that chain (even with good intentions) risks undermining discipline.

2. From a governance perspective
As FCT Minister, Wike does have authority over land administration and enforcement within Abuja. If soldiers were illegally occupying or obstructing government operations, he had grounds to challenge that. But the way he did it — with visible anger and public confrontation — blurs professionalism.
Leaders are often judged not just by what they do, but how they do it.

3. The public perception
To many Nigerians, it’s refreshing to see a politician “stand up” to uniformed men, since abuse of power by security agencies is common. To others, it’s a worrying show of ego — reinforcing the “strongman” image rather than institutional accountability.

My overall view
Wike was right to assert civilian authority if the soldiers were acting outside their mandate. But he was wrong in tone and method — such exchanges should happen through formal channels, not emotional public scenes. The real solution lies in clearer boundaries between civil administration and military deployment, so these power clashes don’t keep repeating.

The Nigerian elites are a disgraceful bunch. They demand respect but don't behave themselves properly. They lack finesse, abuse protocol and insecure.
Do you know who I am? So he expected a phone call to stand the order down? Did they give him the directive through Wike's mobile phone? It just shows you how disorganized the FCTA itself is.

The soldier is an officer and a fine gentleman.
He made the institution proud.

Imagine bringing cameras to record him intimidating soldiers only to be humiliated.

Soldier that signed up to face death cannot be intimidated by mere shouting.

Publicly abusing a soldier on uniform is disrespect to the country.

Some questions that I ponder on in view of this military/civilian conflict are:

1.........Did anyone compel these soldiers to join the military?...Why the excessive anger and disgust towards civilians?

2......Are they working for free so that Nigerians owe them so much?...They get paid while their bosses have almost equal access as top politicians to the Nation's treasury ....So what exactly is the reason for the sense of entitlement and feeling that they are above the law of the land?

3.......If they demand these extreme respect because they die defending the country, what then should accrue to the thousands who have died due to the failure of the country's security architecture?....We should worship those ones as gods and prophets then?...Isn't everyone at risk of dying in this country as it is presently anyway?...

4....While these soldiers have security in numbers and availability of ammunition to fight insurgents, ordinary Nigerians have mostly only their guts and instincts to protect them from the same criminals ....in fact some people in remote areas, long distance drivers and travellers are at risk of facing these criminals without any armed colleagues or ammo to back them up...Are these people also to demand exception from the laws of the land because they are brave enough to face criminals even unarmed?

Lastly, this "a General is always a General" talk, what law backs it up?...If it is true, what law is a retired General subject to then?...Civil law or martial law?...if he is subject to martial law, how then can be labelled "Retired" and not sent to war like his mates?....If he is subject to only civil law after retirement, how then is he still a General?...and if he is retired and still a General, what and which soldiers is he commanding, and to where exactly is he doing so?

What exactly is going on in this Country ?
Have you asked yourself any of these questions?

If anybody asked Wike to join POLITICS?

Is Wike Nigeria laws that everyone must obey?

Are political holders now gods over the masses?

Are they not being paid with Nigeria's Money?

I don't know why we keep supporting hypocrisy in this country without due diligence. The said land was located on a corridor in which someone bought to be used for a park/recreation centre, after some period of time the person that acquired the land reversed to use for commercial purpose in which the govt was against. He then began selling the land to people in which the CDO was among. In this case, the CDO was scammed instead of him to meet the seller, because he was a military person he brought his colleague to fight/secure the land
What is good for the goose is also good for the gander, the civilians that bought same land has theirs revoked, why is the ex military person exceptional in this case when he actually bought a wrong land

You are the one being biased. If Wike loved his life, wisdom would have been profitable to direct him not to involve himself with unnecessary fights. After election is governance but you seem not to want to be held accountable that's why any small thing for you is election loss. Are you saying when AC lost elections in 2011 and still criticised the actions of PDP, they were bad losers? You are the one who wants to look at things from party affiliations and election loss. By the way, Wike is still a member of PDP serving an APC government. The most important topic here is Nigeria but I get you, keep dividing people away from sound judgment and truth, which hurts.

Yes, you're right.

But what do you think Wike will do with the land after recovering it?

Give it back to the Federal Government?

We'll still sell it to his cronies and some corrupt politicians.

Chief all this grammar will not change the fact that the minister himself is lawless. Why is he revoking allocated lands and giving to his cronies. The minister is not in the good books of Nigerians because of his arrogant demeanor. This man did suspended the law when he help to rig the last election and then orchestrate confusion in rivers HOA and then influence suspension of a sitting governor. He will insult TV presenters and talk without decorum. Is he the only minister in Nigeria?

Nigerians are happy because he finally met his match and it's a young man who refused to be intimidated

What elites? Do you know the meaning of elite?

We don't have elites anymore in Nigeria

ARISHEM:
Elites that we expect to repair the image of country’s are instead damaging it by their erratic attitudes.
They are further clarifying that you can’t amount to anything and respected until you know somebody at the top

Wike is too uncouth to be a Minister. He sounds like a graduated thug. What makes him actually thinks a trained military officer would disobey the order of a 3 star General because of a bloody corrupt politician. A Minister calling a young officer a fool for obeying the order of his superior and asking to shut up. Well am not surprise because he became a Minister as compensation for rigging election for Tinubu in Rivers. Very shameful display from Wike

It's good to have backup.

The young man knew he had firepower waiting to be unleashed. Energetically he was drawing from the entire team. He couldn't have achieved the same thing if he had been a lone soldier.

Civilians trying the exact same thing would have been brutalised.

The equivalent of the backup firepower for civilians is unity, but we are busy fighting each other
