Hello Guys,
Please I need your suggestions related to my case. Although I am currently a student in the US and I filed my eb2-niw application last year and changed to premium recently while I was single. I got married 5 months ago and my wife is in Nigeria. I have tried every means to bring her in via student means but there hasn’t been means.
Please what would you suggest I do in this case since I am planning to add her when I am adjusting my status which is almost current.

Your suggestions for my family reunion will be helpful

Why not first wait till you get approval for your i-140 petition, cos obviously you can't bring her in with a student visa as it will conflict with what you have on ground.

Yes, I understand what you meant and I know I need to wait for my I-140 approval. I am just asking as regards to her own case and what could be done. Any route to make her processing faster.
If my priority date is November 2024, does this apply to her as well?
Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Babbyad: 1:12pm On Oct 28, 2025
Once your Priority day becomes current in the Visa Bulletin, both of you are eligible at the same time. No separate waiting period for her. Sorry but I don't think there is anything you can do to make her processing faster.

You can’t take any further steps until your I-140 is approved. After that, when filing your I-485, you’ll also submit Form I-824 (Follow-to-Join) for your spouse. Once both applications are approved, your spouse’s case will go through NVC. What you can do now is find a way for her to relocate to a country that’s not backlogged because Lagos backlog is really bad irrespective of your priority date.

Thank you for your response on this. Meanwhile, do you have an idea which country has no backlogged someone can use or how can I search for this?

Yes, in all the groups I'm aware of, only one person indicated getting IL for lagos eb3 and I think that was on the 20th of this October. Her interview is scheduled for December. Her priority date is November 2022 and her dq was March 28th, 2023. As for me, my priority date is December 2022 and my dq is March ending, 2023. I'm sorry, I don't want to say the exact date. I'm on the eb3 route.

Omo, so Lagos never clear March 2023. It is well. If you can, transfer to another country. Love and light.

The IV scheduling tool that shows they are attending to cc of April, 2023 is wrong! I'm in March ending of 2023 and I also know another person with a case complete on 28th of March, 2023, yet neither her nor me has been scheduled for interview! So, who are the ghosts they are scheduling?
At this stage, I can't transfer my case to anywhere because it's going to set me back if I do.

Ever since this tool was introduced in May, it has always shown that Lagos is processing March 2023 for Employment based cases. Since June, US President Trump has announced several policies against Nigeria as well as made threats so it won't be surprising if the processing of IVs gets even slower. Yet, the total number of DQ applicants on all the EB routes is less than the number of Tourist visa applicants typically interviewed within two days. Even if one Immigrant Visa processing Time is equivalent to 20 of B1/B2, the backlog could have been cleared if the intent was there.
However, EBs are likely to pass and not be denied visas so who knows if they want us to lose interest and withdraw our applications? That is somehow embedded in their 60-day notifications received over the last six months... Thus, one is not amazed at claims via the reporting tool that it is now processing DQ April 2023 while in reality some applicants DQ before that date are yet to receive interview letters.

May God intervene in our favour at His appointed time, I no dey stress again!

Who will give up after all the stress and money spent travelling out for professional exams, verifications here and there and so on and so forth? They are just joking! Whether they like it or not, they are going to release my I'd ASAP, by God's grace!
Thanks for your encouragement, ma'am.

The date there is PD of April 2023 for those who are already documentarily qualified. and their PD is April 2023.

It's not DQ April 2023

The crazy part is that there’s no explanation or rationale for the snail speed. It’s really demoralizing.
And this trumps new policy of attending you interview in your home country is a huge problem

No, take a proper look at the scheduling Tool Screenshot, it states clearly the Date is about when one is documentarily complete.
There are several persons here with 2022 Priority Date yet to receive IL.

You're getting it wrongly bro. The IV scheduling tool is all about documentarily complete and not Priority date. All the cases that are dqed in March & April, 2023 would receive IL any moment from now.

Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Coolman2025: 9:42pm On Nov 15, 2025
Bro, please get the admin right. Your priority date is the first thing, without having a current priority date, you can't even talk of your case complete date! Your priority date is your filling date and you know after filling, USCIS will need to go through all your documents and filling fee. It's after your documents and payment has been verified before they now issue you a case complete date. So, to be eligible for an interview, your priority date has to first be current on the visa bulletin, then on the IV scheduling tool, your case complete date must fall in the month indicated that they are scheduling for interview.

I am almost forced to think that a terrible agenda is playing out that might worsen things for Nigerians with the US. First, I believe we can count on our fingers how many folks have got their ILs in the EB1/EB2 category in the last 2 years. Nigerians here who were fortunate to transfer their applications to other countries have progressed and even relocated and forgotten their experience.

With Nigerians now subject to 3 months B1/B2 visa lottery (it has become a lottery) and with DJT's recent statement calling Nigeria a "now disgraced country", I hope we don't see a situation where stylishly Nigeria gets retrogressed like India and China. I mean government departments in the US are practically converting presidential statements on Truth Social into policy. DHS/USCIS will be very happy to implement this. My thinking is that since DJT is finding it difficult to meet the flying colours records set by Obama and Biden, he has resorted to stalling legal migration to bring the overall migration numbers down. If that is the case, then sorry is the case.

What many people are not noting is the pain and frustration this process is bringing on to people. My entire process took 2 years. Applied and got my i140 under 2.5 weeks (not priority o). Became DQ'd after 6 months and then waited for another 19 months to interview and shortly after relocated. Today, I go out and meet scores of Nigerians and I am shocked that they are only half of a family. Spouse is here with some kids and the other spouse is back in Nigeria with the other kids. Families are being destroyed for no reason. Families together back home are confused. People cannot plan. It is not as if anything "good" is happening in the Nigeria. People are just wasting time.

Now, when we are supposed to be seeing people testify of receiving ILs for December as others in sane countries are doing, we are looking at ourselves, and wondering what went wrong.

I will advise that you don't put your eggs in one basket. Consider other options - UK Global talent, Australia 189 and NIV, China (K visa). You cannot be stagnant as DJT is on call for the next 3.5 years.

Please guys, I just wanted to update this post. I got my I-140 approved two weeks ago and awaiting my filling date to become current (December 2024); meaning, in less than 5 months before it becomes current. How do I go through the process for my wife’s own also.
I read about transferring cases to another country rather than Nigeria. How is this done?
I will appreciate you all feedback

This is a well put together thought. I suggest you transfer if you can. Consider Cameroon and Togo. Another option for those that has the principal applicants in sane countries (especially Europe, even South Africa), is to transfer their file, get IL, and transfer it back to Lagos. Don't transfer back till you receive IL. This is what people are doing. Don't sleep on it. Best wishes to everyone.

You cannot transfer it back after you have recieved interview letter, you can only transfer when it at NVC.

Says who. I'm talking from people around me that shared their personal experiences. One transfered back from Germany after receiving IL, another from SA. How do you mean it isn't possible.
