That’s misuse of state resources and a breach of the Armed Forces Act.

So while his composure is commendable, his presence on that land raises real questions. He should have refused such deployment or reported it through the proper chain.

Wike had legal power, but not emotional restraint.

The officer had discipline, but maybe not legal justification.

Both sides have faults:

Wike has full legal authority over FCT lands but he acted unprofessionally and publicly humiliated the military.
Yerima / Military side.. Showed discipline and restraint but acted on unlawful orders and misused soldiers for private purposes....

Earlier in the year, Wike revoked the C of O of the residence of the first man to join the NDA and reallocated it to his friend, Kingsley Chinda. He has taken it upon himself to square with serving and retired military officers, indiscriminately revoking properties that previous administrations have rightfully allocated to them. All green areas in the FCT have been converted and reallocated to friends and cronies, putting the environmental sustainability of the FCT at risk. He continues to be accommodated, aided, and abetted by Tinubu. All the FG does is to order probe with no action taken. What's the outcome of the probe ordered on Wike's allocation of hectares of choice lands to his sons?

I ve been expecting FG to intervene in the embarrassing display of power by the state actors.

The position of the FG should be clear and succinct and not play politics or appeal to the sentiment of any section.

FG should establish that Nigeria is a democracy where we have civil rule where the rule of law is the guiding principle.

Military should be put in its rightful place while government representatives should guide by the rule and not emperor means.

The interest of the public is paramount, it should be guided jealously in order to have egalitarian society where citizens rights are protected

All these rubbish can only be found in a country like ours,how can a military have the mind set that one soldiers life is worth more than the lives of 100 civilians they swore to protect.the military too can report to appropriate channels too since the land dispute started but people keep blaming wike for doing his job.so cos I was a CNS gives me audacity and right to encroach on any land?.
In sane countries I have never see the military actively amongst civilians as if we are in military regime where you see soldiers every where.
A retired CNS now still deploys men of the Nigerian army at will,I’m not sure the CDS was even aware of it.
Wike has his fault but the military shouldn’t have been there in the first instance
Some ignorant people will be shouting wike is grabbing land,the land he didn’t grab as a governor of his state then he will be grabbing as a minister of the FCT,after he grabs all the land then another FCt minister will come and revoke everything.we need some common sense abeg
People applaud the soldier for standing against wike forgetting that a soldier that can’t stop internal aggression can never defend external invasion.

Sentiment will always play out in this issue. But the manner of approach exercised by the FCT minister was too crude and uncivilized. Imagine calling the young officer a fool. There's no way you can justify such an action. In a civilized world, he should have resigned.

I have watched thr whole video. Wike did right thing as the top executive manager of the FTC. The officer should be dismissed ASAP. What has defending a person's land has to do with his job?
We have our priorities misplaced in this country.
He is supposed to respect civilian authority not his boss that sent him on a personal matter.

National interest will ever override personal interest. Wike was protecting national interest while the soldier was protecting personal interest. The young officer has no business being in that land at the time. It is not and it will never be the duty of the army to guard a parcel of land. Even if such should be done, it is the duty of the police. For those saying he obeyed the order from the superior officer, if the young officer is asked to fireTinubu while attending a public function, would he do that ? Someone has quoted where the court has said that officer cannot take order that is illegal. The offences Wike committed that brought the level of hatred against him are
1. They accused him of giving Rivers' vote to Tinubu.
2. The accused him of ordering the killing of IPOB members in Obigbo.
3 They expected Fubara to silence Wike but got the opposite
4. They saw him as a threat to PDP existence.
5. Those that feel untouchable are being touched and my fellow Nigerians who cannot boost of a parcel of land in their villages are supporting them. In all, Wike continues to give them bloody nose. Let me see anyone that will come here to complain or share videos where he or she is being molested by any soldier.

In normal countries around the world, retired military commanders are no longer in the chain of command. Only active military commanders on active duty are in the chain of command. I am not sure why things in Nigeria are always upside down. The young military officer was on an illegal duty.
