Let's forget that the minister is Wike.
My question is this: was it right and lawful for the military boy to stop the FCT minister, Wike or no Wike?

Everyone is just happy because it's Wike that was involved.
This is a land matter, which is a civil case, police will not even dabble into it talk less of military officers.
Is this what we have turned out military into? Sending them unlawful errands? You use military to harass your tailor, mechanic because they disappoint you. Use them to settle scores etc...

It's a shame! Wike has his own issues. Agreed! But let's separate the person of Wike from the office of the FCT minister. The FCT minister is also like a governor of Abuja, thought not elected but appointed by and on the authority of the president.

U are speaking unnecessary English. The military who have their constitutional role under democracy have told u their laws under the constitution ubare here still trying to force appease a unruly public servant and political appointee for sheer political alliance reasons not because u respect any laws.

If this happened under Jonathan's government many of u will have a completely different opinion including lere defending his boss.

But these brasshats need to get over themselves. Nigerian soldiers do far more damage to their calling and image than any loudmouthed federal minister could ever hope to. Every single day in this country Nigerians are treated to one public show of shame or another involving military personnel. Burutai and co should address that pervasive, systemic indiscipline instead of giving hollow speeches.

Here we go again.

This man started well but ended with the cheap emotional blackmail that has become the calling card of Nigerian soldiers. There are other professionals who also risk their lives daily for Nigeria but we don't hear them demanding appreciation at every turn. These other professionals are real professionals who just get the job done - and they get it done quietly, with no unnecessary noise.

Ameyo Adadevoh is long dead but she is the reason Ebola didn't claim more lives in Nigeria when the epidemic hit these shores over ten years ago. She paid with her life to contain that virus and prevent it from spreading into the Lagos metropolis. In this country, medical support personnel, doctors, lab technicians, nurses, etc. risk their lives every day to protect the public but we don't hear these health workers emotionally blackmailing the entire country every ten minutes.

Enough with these tiresome demands for undeserved appreciation!

Large swathes of the country are under the full control of terrorists, bandits, assorted militias and what have you - and the Nigerian military simply has not been able to get the situation under control - after fifteen long years. Instead of getting the job done, we have comments like the above - claiming special privileges for a military that is clearly underperforming - at the cost of tens of thousands of civilian lives.

Sentiment will always play out in this issue. But the manner of approach exercised by the FCT minister was too crude and uncivilized. Imagine calling the young officer a fool. There's no way you can justify such an action. In a civilized world, he should have resigned.

I really feel great pity for Wike's personal staff. Those folks must be eating poo from this man. If he could abuse a senior officer publicly, I wonder what his own staff go through every day. Call the young man a fool was totally uncalled for. Commendably, the officer showed admirable restrain and decorum.
