The fears being expressed by Lagos residents of a possible disease outbreak due to the heaps of refuse that now litter major roads in most parts of the state are valid. The state government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has apparently dropped the ball on waste management, and the supposed Centre of Excellence has been turned into a massive stinking dumpsite.https://punchng.com/return-of-refuse-mountains-to-lagos/

Like Lagos, like Abuja. Abuja is now very dirty and filthy with heaps of garbage at every street and corner. This is the case even in highbrow areas like Asokoro and Maitama. The satellite towns are worse. In the midst of all these, Wike is only interested in grabbing land for his family and cronies. It's so bad that it was discussed at plenary at the house of reps today. Wike should sit up and do his job. Abuja is fast becoming Rumuokoro.

People should learn to do what is right. Dumping refuse everywhere and anywhere is an irresponsible act. If every home patronises and pays the registered refuse collectors instead of the cart pushing abokis, our environment will be cleaner. |

Lagos that Pa Tilumbu spent his whole life building, brick by brick, even before he was officially born, they’re trying to spoil it with refuse. |

Nigerians are very dirty. The people poured that dirt there not the government. We have several receptacles but the people want to do short cuts by just pouring it any where and forget that they will feel the effect. The government should put heavy fine on anyone who is caught putting dirt where he or she is not supposed to |

That's not good at all! But who is really the governor of lagos? It is very difficult to judge the performance of a figure head. |

Sanwo-Olu is just too docile as a governor. APC is an irresponsible party. I remember Hamzat the deputy governor talking about environment when they took over from Ambode, now they did nothing to make Lagos cleaner. Only thing they know is how to share money. |

delpee:on point 💯% .where available, i don't see why people shouldn't be paying cash for proper refuse disposal. The Govt too should be sincere with the citizens. You can not make a policy on subsidy and forex, and the only people benefitting from the gain are majorly the political class. People Earning like 200k before the petrol and forex subsidy were removed u now said u are making a minimum wage to address the reality on ground and what you added was just a token of 33k, however, for the political class going to construct road or buy things, they always talk about how they will need more money for those project because of naira /dollar devaluation. We just dey reason bad leader for this country. |

iwaeda:Tinubu is only focused on raising revenue from increased tax burden on the masses in his master plan. He has no intention to employ well paid workers to make government services and utilities available to everyone. |

The population is getting too much. Resources aren't enough. Services are getting stretched out. The system would soon overwhelm Lagos must be decongested. How can landmass of 3,000sqkm(mostly water) is housing 23 million people, a significant number non indigene, 20% of all vehicles are driven here. Kilode? |

One thing is Nigerians lack maintenance culture, they won't keep it clean even if you clean it up, and most of them deliberately dump the refuse there then get angry when anyone says Lagos is smelling, the over hyped Lagos that is an eyesore, if you talk they go say you're jealous, dunno why everyone wants to stay cramped up in that place. |
