They believe they are above the law. I don't blame them, since the civilians in power are letting them off the hook. Fume for just Pete Hegseth, not even Trump and see the result. Accountability is an alien concept in Nigeria. |

Cullinane:I couldn't agree with you more. A retired officer is giving orders to an active officer and everybody is spewing of obeying military orders. I guess Gowan can also give orders and they will follow? |

I don't break bread with your likes, go school, you say no - school na scam class prefect foaming in the mouth. Lol. Vice Admirals don't retire, they just leave active service. A Vice Admiral dies a vice Admiral get that into your coconut head. Let me quote the young officer, Lt AM Yerima verbatim, “Sir, I request to enlighten you, there is no such thing as a former Vice Admiral, a Vice Admiral is a Vice Admiral…” There's a reason why even after speaking to the CDS on Wike's phone, I mean a whole CDS for that matter, Yerima was not asked to stand down by the CDS. The reason is chain of command. Neither the CDS or Tinubu the CIC can ask Yerima to stand down, if Yerima stand down na guardroom and court martial straight. If Tinubu as the CIC gives Yerima a direct order to stand down, Yerima will discard that order as according to military law, the order is unlawful. Now I am quoting you military law, not my Lord, my learned colleague here has not eaten since yesterday. For Yerima to stand down on Tinubu's orders, Tinubu will have to give the order to the CDS, who will give the order to the CNS who will give the order to Yerima's commanding officer, who will give Yerima the order to stand down. That's the chain of command. Now talking about officers who have left service, do you have a "simple" General or Vice Admiral in your village or anywhere near where you leave? Do you know how many active military personnel and rank are assigned to them when they leave active service? What about a Vice Admiral who was a CNS? Go and find that out before you disgrace yourself by saying they cannot order serving military officers. Just go block Burutai for road and see if your family members no go start print your obituary. franvincoop:President Tinubu cannot do what? You see why I warned against letting that officer go unpunished? You perpetuate myths like this. It is also why I am calling for the resignation of the CDS. Some people erroneously believe the CDS does not have the power to order those soldiers out of there and they are wrong. This is what happens when the right thing is not done. Now this element I quoted said even our president can't order a general. A pity. |

Bros, no be myth. Resignation of CDS? Where have you ever seen that one happen? It seems you have been reading a lot of newspapers printed in Washington DC, Oga wake up na naija you dey. I understand that you are a bloody civilian so you will not understand, infact go and ask any acquaintance you have in the military or just stop a soldier and ask him. Let me ask you, is it Tinubu that makes someone a General or Vice Admiral? The current CDS who was appointed a month ago, was it Tinubu that made him a General? Do you know how many Generals were available to be appointed CDS? Do you know that all Generals from 36R to 40R are currently out of service because Tinubu appointed their junior the CDS? You misunderstand military issues, the CDS has the power to order them out of there but only following the chain of command, this is what is drilled into your skull when you attend the academy. The CDS is a military man and he knows that he will be ridiculing the office of the CDS by giving a direct order to Yerima to leave that land because according to military law, that order from the CDS is illegal and unlawful, I repeat according to military law. I repeat again, the chain of command is for the CDS to pass the order to the CNS, the CNS to Yerima commanding officer and then to Yerima. Anything breaching this chain of command is illegal according to military law. Tinubu can only appoint service chiefs, CDS, CNS and CAS, that is as far as Tinubu can go, Tinubu is not a military man, he is the CIC yes but he has never attended a military academy. Even the current CDS that Tinubu recently appointed was a General since during Buhari 1st term, don't forget we have 3 types of Generals, Major, Brigadier and Lieutenant Generals. Know this and know peace, Tinubu can not give a direct order to a General, he must pass through the CDS, Tinubu cannot punish or sack a General, he must pass through the CDS. I am not the one that made it that way, that's the way it is. Now to the matter on ground, if Wike who has never bled for this nation can use his pen to allocate lands to his friends and children, then a General who has served for over 30 years, bled for Nigeria and lost colleagues and subordinates along the way can also use soldiers to allocate land to himself. I think it's fair play, a fish starts rotting from the head and not the tail and disease wey dey catch coffee dey catch cocoa too. We did not hear all this noise safe for Sowore when Wike grabbed lands, so what's this whole noise all about? Or is it because Wike has unfinished vendettta from Rivers state with Admiral Gambo? A time will come very soon when Judge Omotosho and Liman ( from Wike’s justice supermarket) will give an order in this same country and soldiers or Policemen will tell Wike to his face to go and bring the judge to come and enforce the order. Peace. BondRiv: |

In as much as I don't support Wike's motor park utterances, some of these generals are deeply involved in oil bunkering, illegal mining, islamic terrorists supports etc, make dem and Wike getat. |

franvincoop:So what, if you went to the NDA? are you a lawyer? My initial reaction to your comment was unambiguous and prompted by your crass ignorance of the law, particularly the constitution of Nigeria. The President of Nigeria as the Commander-in-Chief commands everyone in the military. Even a child in secondary school knows this. |

themanderon:Your minister would have used the appropriate authorities to address the issue rather than confront. Rather, he went there to flex his powers 😂 If you understand how chain of command works in the military, you won't be saying this. Mind you, the officers weren't there illegally The Ministry of Defence (via the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle) says the officer did not breach military law, and that Wike should have gone via proper channels rather than confront the officer directly. Wike is overdoing it. How will you just start demolishing people's properties. Na so ? His boys had issues just last year around sabon Lugbe with a serving Major General His boys went there to stop the demolition and seized 3 Hilux belonging to FCDA and blew out the tyres of the caterpillar. |

AMINDA:^^^ If these allegations are true then all right thinking people should get behind the cause and put extreme pressure on BAT to do the right thing. The answer is to make BAT pay a heavy political and legal price if he does not carry out a proper investigation of these allegations. The answer does not lie in encouraging soldiers to break the law. |

MrDoGood:You still don't get it. All these having soldiers guide ex military heads is just one of the abnormal cultures we carried over from the military era. It's not normal for you to see soldiers guiding properties of ex military heads that's what I am saying. A whole lot of things we have taken as normal is actually abnormal. Take for example soldiers beating up a civilian. You don't dare try it in a sane setting. You don't even get to see soldiers on the streets with their uniforms. That was the way it was before the military came and destroyed everything. |

99thEnemy:I do. The problem is that many Nigerians despise their leaders given the way they govern the country, that animosity is there even though many people like you might not even be aware of it. So, anything/anyone that ridicule them will be welcomed. What concerns soldiers guarding a construction site? That shouldn't be one of their duties |

99thEnemy:The Lieutenant Commander Yerima should be praying that the incident no be probbed because he would be in 100% serious trouble for the following reason:- 1) A retired CNS cannot give any order again 2) The land in question is a private land which means he is on illegal duty. 3) He was unruly and showed insubordination to the president since Wike as FCT minister was representing the president |

| Re: Wike-Naval Officer Clash: Ex-Generals Fume As FG Orders Probe by 99thEnemy(m): 8:56pm On Nov 17, 2025 |
stuffs2002:First A retired CNS cannot give any order again.True, because a retired Chief of Naval Staff has zero official command authority over serving personnel. Everyone, including the Navy and Defence Minister know that the order did not come directly from the retired CNS to Yerima. It came through a serving superior who was acting upon through informal influence. That is why the probe is focusing on how a serving commander was made to deploy sailors to guard private property, not on Yerima personally obeying a direct order from a retired officer. Second The land in question is a private land which means he is on illegal duty.True again. The duty was truly improper and irregular, but the average Navy lieutenant on the ground has no access to FCDA files to know that. All he knows is, "my commander posted me here" as the guard commander of the armed sailors posted there. This is why the military is shielding him while investigating the chain of command that sent him there. Third He was unruly and showed insubordination to the president since Wike as FCT minister was representing the presidentYerima did not commit insubordination against the President. Insubordination in the military is refusing an order from a superior within the chain of command. The FCT Minister, no matter how powerful, is not in that chain and has no authority to represent the president in the capacity of the military over an active personnel on duty. (legal or Illegal). The President, as Commander-in-Chief, issues military orders through the Service Chiefs, never through a civilian. Even Vice Admiral Ibas (retd.) during his six-month tenure as Sole Administrator of Rivers State could never command the military posted there during the tenure because he is civilian. |
