Nigeria and DR Congo will meet in Sunday’s CAF World Cup play-off final in Rabat, with the winners advancing to March’s FIFA Inter-Continental Play-Off and keeping their FIFA World Cup 26™ dream alive.

Kick-off is 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT) at the Stade Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan.

Eric Sékou Chelle’s Super Eagles arrive with momentum after a dramatic 4–1 extra-time win over Gabon.

Nigeria were pegged back late in normal time but finished emphatically, as Chidera Ejuke struck early in extra time before Victor Osimhen sealed it with a ruthless brace, adding to Akor Adams’ opener.

The three-time African champions have now put themselves 90 minutes from the inter-continental shootout that offers Africa’s 10th ticket to 2026.

Opponents DR Congo advanced the hard way, edging Cameroon 1–0 thanks to a stoppage-time finish from captain Chancel Mbemba, who turned in a Cipenga corner after a disciplined defensive display.

The winners move on to the six-team FIFA Inter-Continental Play-Off in March—two spots available for the world stage—while the losers see their route to 2026 close.

If Nigeria wins on Sunday, they will be seeded for the final (qualify already for final) in mexico because they are the top ranked team in all right now. we just go and play our thing.

BRAZIL ONCE DIDNT QUALIFY FOR WORLD CUP AND WENT THROUGH THIS PROCESS AND MADE IT AND LIFTED THE WORLD CUP. THIS IS NOT TO SUPPORT EAGLES LACK OF SERIOUSNESS DURING THE QUALIFICATION PROCESS BUT THEY MUST HAVE LEARNT FROM THEIR MISTAKES AND WITH THEIR NEW ZEAL, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

We want to thank Dr Congo for driving Cameroon out. Infact, we have won Dr Congo already. Thank God is not Cameroon because they will likely win us. Cameroon vs Nigeria is a game of champions and they Cameroon won’t approach the match as they did with dr Congo. It will be a different ball game.

My nigga, Nwabali is the worse goal keeper that super Eagles will ever have. The likes of , Peter Rufai, Ike shorunmu, Joseph Dosu and Vincent Eyeama represented well. Several shot from our opponents in world cup is enough to make us concede so much goal and drop out of the group stages in the world cup

Maybe you should go and watch Cameroon Vs DR Congo. Cameroon were completely frustrated. Congolese defence was difficult to penetrate. We need adequate preparation to come out victorious.

If Nigeria beats DR Congo, they will be the highest-ranked team in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Play-Off and will only have to play against one of the four lowest-ranked teams in the 2026 Play-Off.

If Nigeria qualifies, the country will be well prepared for the FIFA final.

The FIFA World Cup 26™ Play-Off Tournament will see six sides fight it out for the final two places at the FIFA World Cup 26™ in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

It will involve two teams from Concacaf and one team apiece from the AFC, CAF, CONMEBOL and OFC, and will take place in March 2026 during the the international fixture window which runs from 23 - 31 March.

From the six teams who qualify, the four lowest-ranked nations in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will meet in bracket semi-finals. The two highest-ranked teams will go directly into the finals. The winners of the two bracket finals will reach the FIFA World Cup 26.
