Osimhen might break Yekini's goal record by the time AFCON is over...but let's be honest, 37 goals as the highest goal scorer for a nation like Nigeria is quite low. Eto is Cameroon's highest goal scorer with 51. Salah is on 61 goals for Egypt, Drogba had 65 by the time he retired. I think SE has had an issue in building teams with longevity. From tournament to tournament, things are always changing. Honestly, Osimhen can break the African goal-scoring record (79 goals) held by Godfrey Chitalu from Zambia. Between AFCONQ, AFCON, WCQ and WC, games dey. |

Kog45:Tolu isn't, but it's a case of calling someone up that's new, in form, and can bring something different to the NT. But Tolu and Awo have similar playing styles to Osimhen. It's either one or the other and no way they are benching Osimhen. Adams can actually complement Osi, similar to Lookman. |

mrwilliams9:How many international games do you think African teams play ? Afcon used to be a 12 nation tournament before increasing to 16 and 24 today. Also back in the day only 2 or 3 African teams can qualify for the World Cup, it was even in recent years Africa teams were now having more international friendly games due to planned international breaks which afforded the likes of drogba and Salah to increase their tally. Secondly it just shows the eagles haven’t got a talisman as a striker in a very long time until osihmen came to the scene so it’s a combination of several factors from the number of available games to the quality and longevity of strikers in the national team. It’s a mix bag and not an indictment on any team. |

Let’s get this win in sunday vs Congo DR. Let’s not underrate our opponents. I saw the replay of their game against Cameroon and they look disciplined at the defense . Nigeria. 4-0 Congo Dr |

CMR vs DRC was like an audition for Senegalese wrestling (Lamb). DRC have these big tall players and appear to pose a threat with set pieces. We conceded too many corners against Gabon in the second half. Sunday promises to be an exciting but physical game. I hope we come home with the victory and hopefully no injuries. |

Yekini's tally could have been higher if we didn't boycott AFCONs 96 and 98,.. particularly 96 even though the goal king was already in the twilight of his career at that time. Tipping osimhen to get over 70 goals before he retires. His commitment to the national team is exemplary and hopefully we don't miss out of tournaments. |

It will be a miracle if Congo DRC do not concede at least one penalty tomorrow. |

The game against DRC will be decided in the first half. If Nigeria doesn't score in the first half, omo. DRC are a harder side to break down in their defense because they can adapt. Plus they're arguably more aggressive than Cameroon. Also, this game is potentially the worst game Nwabali should think of trying his antics. The Congolese put a lot of pressure on the Cameroon defense with their one to one marking. Even the goalkeeper isn't left out. I know the Nigerian defense is probably more compact than Cameroon but still, we must be careful. The clinicality we brought against Benin and against Gabon in extra time must be replicated here. This is not a game we can afford to be wasteful in. I must be honest, for some reason I can't put my finger around, I'm waaaayyy less confident about this game than I was about Gabon. I see this being a very scrappy win for Nigeria. As good as we were against Gabon, we must step up our game. |

Lookman too gave Osimhen a pass to score yet there's general consensus that he could have played better. Ejuke too could have played better in the 2nd half of the game. I still insist his game got immensely better after he scored. Anyway at the end of the day it's my opinion and you have disagreed and stated yours. Shalom. Meliforme: |

Zaidu is a stop gap though I think he's a decent squad player. I agree with you that if there's anyone we should think of pursuing then it should be Kayode. Like Sugarboy said having him will mean Chelle can play Aina on the left without worrying about the RB position. Talking about wooing players how far with Chukwuemeka in Dortmund? Any hope? charlesemeka85: |

Mujtahida:I swear, that equalizer demoralize me finish, then Osimhen's miss. But I knew they'd fight back in extra time. The fire in these boys is just growing, plus they love Éric Chelle and he loves them too. He found a way to make them play as a team and this is just the starting phase o, because we've not even blended 100% as a team. Imagine if we do. |

It's almost a criminal offense that a DEFENDER is that comfortable with the ball at his feet. Can't remember ever in my history of watching the SE seeing a CB that's so comfortable on the ball with accurate passes to boot. Looks like someone who can also do a job in the DM position if called upon. Top exciting talent. Deserves to feature in the big leagues. BascoVanVeli: |
