Waiting for any positive news from the APC government is like waiting for a ship at the airport. The people are very diligent in mediocrity. You go wait tire. |

COP28 was 2 years ago! One would have thought that they would have educated themselves about the badges by now. |

chipet67:This same arguments comes up at last COP 2023; FG not funding all COP28 delegates, says Presidency https://share.google/6T90CWikqfQtZdFDj For further clarification; No, the Nigerian COP delegates list is not solely Nigeria government-sponsored. The overall list includes a mix of attendees sponsored by various entities, not just the Federal Government of Nigeria (FG). The Nigerian delegation typically comprises a variety of stakeholders, including: Federal government officials Representatives from state governments Private sector business leaders and their staff Civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) Environmental activists Media personnel and academics For example, at COP28 in Dubai, out of a total of 1,411 registered Nigerian delegates, the government officially stated that it only funded 422 individuals. The remaining delegates were sponsored by their respective organizations, state governments, or covered their own costs. For more official information, the United Nations provides transparent participant lists for the conferences on the official UNFCC |

The delegation are not the ones that impoverished the nation, neither are they ones that are responsible for our economic stability and security So how is the statistics relevant to the number of delegates? This obi is always an hypocrite |

Even as someone firmly rooted in the APC and supportive of President Tinubu, I believe the concern raised by Mr Peter Obi deserves a fair hearing. His point isn’t out of place. Of course we don’t have to measure ourselves by what countries like China or others are doing, but we should be able to offer practical and convincing reasons for the size of our delegations to international events. The question is simple: does sending large contingents give Nigeria meaningful advantages, or are we merely creating room for allowances and unnecessary attachments that add no real value? These are the kinds of questions we should be honest enough to ask. It’s also important to remember that delegations are often dominated by bureaucrats. Many of them are hardworking, but the system can also attract people who exploit loopholes when proper checks are weak. If a significant number of these delegates turn out to be aides or political appendages without clear functions at these events, then it’s an issue that relevant ministers and supervising authorities must address. International representation is important. It helps Nigeria build partnerships, negotiate better deals, and stay visible on the global stage. But representation must be purposeful, lean, and tied to clear outcomes. Anything else risks weakening public trust. That, in my view, is the real point behind the concern raised. And it’s one we should take seriously, not as a political attack, but as an opportunity to improve how we show up in the world. |

fergie001:Nothing new. OBJ did it. Yar'adua did it. Jonathan did it. (His wife shut down a city in zsouth Korea with over 400 delegates on a shopping spree) Buhari did it. Tinubu is now doing it. This goes to show that they are all the same. |

And we should be competing economically with the likes of Turkey, Brazil, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Portugal and Dubai. So that in 10 years time we can start challenging China. |

NewHe:So, in this case, how many delegates did the Nigerian government fund? And in your Dubai example, don't you think the Federal Government funding 422 individuals is excessive, considering Nigeria can't afford such waste of limited resources? Do you prefer that nobody speaks up or holds the government accountable, and they should just keep quiet? |

You want to be the President of Nigeria, what was your performance in Anambra State? Charlatans everywhere. All the political parties you joined have been engulfed in crisis, not one did you solve. Fleeing from little problems in political parties, but you want to lead Nigeria? Are you kidding me? Obi is a joke. The records are there. |
