I also saw them vs Paraguay and USA. They drew and lost. Insanely is a stretch. Spain is insanely good. France is insanely good. Same as Argentina (Champions). These are genuine world cup contenders. Can we say same of Japan?

Yes, they beat Brazil but we all know they are still adjusting under Carlo Ancelotti and today vs Senegal (that disgraced England in June) we will see just how far Brazil have come under Carlo.

good take
ChrisKels:
Osayi's error was not a one off. The boy has always been sub par. Dude is not super eagles quality. Awaziem is average too but he is better than Osayi. Awaziem should be played as the right back.

We have a higher chance of getting the Swiss young international, Zachary Athekame (20), of AC Milan than Michael Kayode. The latter indicated early this year is that his dream is to achieve big things for Italy senior national team.
Lets try and get both of them, also Honest Ahanor of Atalanta. If teams like Dr Congo and Senegal can convince top players to commit to them, we can too. We just need to lay out a detailed plan of making the team better and stronger.
We needed to get as much quality players as possible.

Let it be that Ndidi doesn't play because of the yellow. I want to see Onyedika.
Onyedika and Iwobi in a two man midfield?
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 11:38am On Nov 15, 2025
Frank's midfield industry alongside Iwobi led us to Afcon Silver at the last Afcon. He came up against stronger and similarly physical midfields in CIV. There is already synergy with Iwobi plus he has the lungs of 4 players.

He is the right pick tactically for this game even over a more technical and better 1st-2nd phase MF operator in Onyedika.

Mujtahida:
Frank for all his limitation, will always make his presence felt with his bustling energy. I understand that the Congolese are a physical team. Well, that's where Frank the Tank comes in.

It was all Nwabali. The deflection was so slight.

The Gabonese goalie saved a even stronger deflection I think from Ndidi.
it was not slight in the least

There are claims on Twitter that Ndidi will miss the playoff finals because of the yellow card he picked today. He apparently had on earlier in the qualifiers. Can anyone confirm this? If true it appears Onyeka or Onyedika will start on Sunday.
In our match against Benin Republic, only Semi Ajayi got a yellow card.
He was then suspended for our game against Gabon.

Wilfred Ndidi only picked a yellow card in the match CAF World Cup playoff match between Nigeria and Gabon.
Wilfred Ndidi will not miss our next match against DR Congo.

See the attached photos for your reference and confirmation.
I hope this helps.

Who else has noticed that Bassey plays with a swagger that is like that of the 94 guys?

He's been phenomenal. An untiring beast who has played every single minute throughout this qualifiers.
I swear, everybody just dey praise Benjamin leave Bassey (wait o! The B-square Wall sounds nice for the both of them 😁)...

Omo, Bassey is so strong! While Benjamin is the calm and composed defender, Basset is the rugged and strong one that sends opposition attackers flying, and he uses his body intelligently. How he grew so fast into a leader at the back is so inspiring and sweet. My innit boy 🔥

Ndidi has received a great deal of flak on this thread but when I watched that interview Chelle had with Odegbami, the kind of praise the man heaped on Ndidi ehn.

Truth is that there are things coaches see, that we the fans don't see and there are things that the fans see, that the coaches don't see.
The Law, please help me with the link to the interview sir 🙏🏾

I also don't believe kayode wants to play for us over the azzuri. His English is also not great which is quite surprising. So athekame is Nigerian his name sounds Cameroonian.

TEAM NEWS UPDATE 📰

CAF has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s playoff clash against DR Congo.

Cautions accumulated during the World Cup qualifiers do not carry over into the playoffs; only confirmed suspensions apply.

If this is true, then Ajayi's case was different because it was a confirmed suspension.

Anahor is highly rated in Italy plus several of the azzuri CBs are old though some still play till their mid 30s. We'll need some convincing to do maybe qualifying for the world cup can help our case. A creative midfielder to take the pressure off iwobi should even be the biggest inquiry at the moment.

NDIDI IS ON SUSPENSION AFTER HIS YELLOW CARD TODAY!!!

LET IT BE KNOWN!!!

I don't want to hear stories that touch this Sunday.
Ndidi did not pick any yellow card against Benin Republic so how will he suspended for just picking a card in our match against Gabon?
How many cards has he picked cumulatively since the CAF FIFA World Cup Qualifiers began?

CALVIN CHINEDU UGHELUMBA BASSEY, WARRIOR 100%

He was never subbed out once. He finished all 10 games A-Z.

Bassey = Unbreakable.
As above ☝🏽, He is never forgotten. Till now, he has played every minute of the WCQs. 11 games now, never been subbed off.

The only Super Eagle to do so... He is Mr Unbreakable.

Benjamin just rightly gets the plaudits more because it was mostly him vs Aubameyang all game and for a 20 y/o, he really outshone all. But Bassey is the clear leader at the back.

Afterall, when Bassey broke into the team, he too had his fair share of glory and Ekong hardly got mentioned at first.

Just watched the Congo game.. I am not underrating them but they can't match the current momentum of the super eagles.. Let's just neatly beat them by 2 goals and kill the game

Semi was already suspended whereas all our players who received 1 yellow during the qualifiers have had their record wiped clean since this is another phase of the qualifiers.

In all sincerity Benji should hold RB, Semi should be brought back, Benji is the only one who can give those crosses from the RB position. Bright should know better his disposal is inevitable . Even when Aina returns, it will take some before he is fully fit time. Kayode is a better upgrade of them all.

Mujtahida:
Abeg ooo. Benjamin should go play RB. Seyi is needed in the CB to deal with aerial balls from the Congolese.
Has Osayi not punished you enough? You want to tempt the gods abi. Person cause PK, the gods overlook am, he deflected the ball into the net, the gods forgave him by letting us win, now you say he should play RB against a Congolese team that has a reputation for being physical and good with set pieces.

No na

Yobo was a pragmatic ball playing CB. Rugged but very comfortable on the ball. Remember he started out as a RB as well and hit good heights as a reliable CB in the EPL.

Anyway, Benjamin does have a higher ceiling and indeed has the "fluid mechanics" of a libero CB. Naija's rising Beckenbaeur.

I'm a bit in a dilemma as to what should be our starting XI tomorrow.

Osayi definitely shouldn't start but who replaces him? Awaziem or Benjamin vacating the CB position for Semi and dropping to RB?

Simon in place of Lookman but not sure if Chukwueze can cope with the physicality of the Congolese. Same with Ejuke.

TheSuperNerd:
Osasu is a journo I take seriously on fifa rules so I hope he is right.

So if indeed the playoffs yellows are counted different from the regular WCQs yellows, then thanks goodness.

Just that the rule that is available to us is the normal 2 yellow cards rule throughout a qualifying campaign or a tournament. The confusion has always been about whether cards accumulation at one stage of qualifiers carries into a fresh stage.
If only the specifics of the WCQs playoffs suspension rule was laid out or made publicly available, there wont be this much confusion, hence the reference to the general suspension rule.
Then Osasu was right.

Ndidi will play vs DRC. Yellow card records from the group stage of the WCQs are wiped clean.

But now that we have Osimhen & Ndidi on one yellow in this playoffs stage, I hope they dont pick up a second yellow vs DRC because I dont know if the yellows will be wiped again before the intercontinental playoffs. This confusion will be avoided if FIFA publicise these suspension rules from stage to stage abeg.

D'Law on Osayi's exclusion from tomorrow's game we are both aligned.

However I'm still on the fence about deploying Benji as a RB because I don't fully trust Ajayi in a flat back 4 set.

If I was sure we will dominate possession with minimum pressure on our defense line then I would be on board with Benji playing RB as he's solid defending and going forward.
