Frank Onyeka x Alex Iwobi in training for DRC.

The likely Starting Midfield duo.
Now we know for sure.

The Wilfred Ndidi x Alex Iwobi Midfield Combo continues.

Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika will continue their bench roles and will step in only when needed off the bench.

The Momentum Ndidi has built from the last game will be a plus. The Gabon game was his best game in a long while.

Let’s get this win in sunday vs Congo DR. Let’s not underrate our opponents. I saw the replay of their game against Cameroon and they look disciplined at the defense . Nigeria. 4-0 Congo Dr
Na every team we wan dey beat 4- something? Anyway sha.. I no mind. At least it will mean the team have finally gotten business minded and drive small fear into teams we might be meeting on afcon

As above ☝🏽, He is never forgotten. Till now, he has played every minute of the WCQs. 11 games now, never been subbed off.

The only Super Eagle to do so... He is Mr Unbreakable.

Benjamin just rightly gets the plaudits more because it was mostly him vs Aubameyang all game and for a 20 y/o, he really outshone all. But Bassey is the clear leader at the back.

Afterall, when Bassey broke into the team, he too had his fair share of glory and Ekong hardly got mentioned at first.
True sha... Bassey is the Osimhen of our defence.

grin Marked attendance

Booked for running onto the pitch when Osimhen scored
I thought he actually ran onto the pitch to give Victor Osimhen his shirt. Osimhen had pulled his shirt after scoring.

I was actually looking forward to seeing onyeka and iwobi again cause of the physicality of the Congolese tomorrow but ndidi truly had a great game on Thursday. I just hope we don't throw lose passes randomly since they will outnumber us in central midfield with their 4-3-3

Ndidi had a fantastic game against Gabon. I would like to see a Bascovanveli compilation on him too.

good take
I don't recall Awaziem as someone having pace is my fear. Osayi didn't necessarily do bad against Gabon besides the penalty scare. He really joined in the attack and even had blocked shots.

I dey feel you Aje!

No drama please just a professional by the books 2-0 win. I barely survived the chas of the last game.
That match made me realize that one can have faith and still find the very situation you have faith for, unbearable. I believe we will qualify but I can't stand the process.

TEAM NEWS UPDATE 📰

CAF has confirmed that Wilfred Ndidi is eligible to feature for the Super Eagles in Sunday’s playoff clash against DR Congo.

Cautions accumulated during the World Cup qualifiers do not carry over into the playoffs; only confirmed suspensions apply.
Modified
After reading the earlier explanations from the very many knowledgeable guys here, it's now as clear as mud.

If this is true, then Ajayi's case was different because it was a confirmed suspension.
Hmm, that Ajayi own den no make sense to me. I just hope the NFF does their due diligence so it won't be what brought us in comes to take us out too.

In all sincerity Benji should hold RB, Semi should be brought back, Benji is the only one who can give those crosses from the RB position. Bright should know better his disposal is inevitable . Even when Aina returns, it will take some before he is fully fit time. Kayode is a better upgrade of them all.
That Bright suffer me with his dull defending. I had to stop watching because of him.

Then Osasu was right.

Ndidi will play vs DRC. Yellow card records from the group stage of the WCQs are wiped clean.

But now that we have Osimhen & Ndidi on one yellow in this playoffs stage, I hope they dont pick up a second yellow vs DRC because I dont know if the yellows will be wiped again before the intercontinental playoffs. This confusion will be avoided if FIFA publicise these suspension rules from stage to stage abeg.
The bookings may be wiped clean..

I mean, the intercontinental playoff is organised by FIFA...the WCQ albeit sanctioned by FIFA is organised by CAF...

Maybe the NFF shouldn't have released the statement to leave the Congolese guessing about our lineup.

Come on, Aina was one of the best RBs in the whole EPL last season, please respect him.

D'Law on Osayi's exclusion from tomorrow's game we are both aligned.

However I'm still on the fence about deploying Benji as a RB because I don't fully trust Ajayi in a flat back 4 set.

If I was sure we will dominate possession with minimum pressure on our defense line then I would be on board with Benji playing RB as he's solid defending and going forward.
Ajayi is good for cutting off aerial supplies.
