Summary An organisation called 1 Ummah NG is holding a peace and unity convention. The speakers at the convention include two foreign clerics. The events are scheduled to hold in Lagos and Abuja. The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Unilag chapter booked the Unilag Mosque for an event that would feature the two foreign speakers, however, the Unilag Muslim Council (UMC), led by the Chief Imam of Unilag, cancelled the event. They said that they cancelled it because the speakers were foreign. It has been reported that disciplinary action has been taken against some students of the College of Medicine, University of Lagos (CMUL) because they associated with the MSSN Unilag Chapter without permission. The students say that the UMC has no right to regulate their activities. This has led to controversy on Nigerian social media space. Some Muslims say that the foreign preachers are extremists, while others say that they are not extremists and nobody has the right to stop them from preaching in Nigeria.

But, guess who said it must not hold because the speakers are "international people"?https://x.com/ProsperousHarun/status/1989626176227205402?

SarkinFOTO @FotoNugget Islamic scholars are no longer welcome in Nigeria for Islamic gatherings? Where is all this boldness & such audacity coming from?https://x.com/FotoNugget/status/1989986694725316916? Osi @Emmyhimself If the islamic scholars are coming to promote extremism they are not welcomehttps://x.com/Emmyhimself/status/1990030949766271420? Bashir Ahmad, OON @BashirAhmaad Nigeria is gradually becoming one of the most Islamophobic countries and a major part of this is unfortunately aided by the “I am Muslim, but…” gang. The thing they just don’t understand is that no matter how much they bend over to appear moderate, those they are trying to satisfy will still question their faith and in the end, even accuse them practicing taqiyya.https://x.com/BashirAhmaad/status/1990037041061482806? Y.O. @yojora Speaking against extremist preachers is not an attack on Islam, it’s an attack on extremism.https://x.com/yojora/status/1990005065084461421? Dr.Hidima @Realoilsheikh It is the audacity of some illiterate self-emboldened & bigoted Nigerian Christians for me. That you are who? You want to decide for us who we invite to come & discuss or teach our own religion? Who appointed you over us? What your fathers have failed to do is what you think you can try? Do we care who you invite to come & speak about your religion? You think you have that power over us? Not in this life. Not in any life to come. 𝐓𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧. Stay within your own limits. You want to define us for us, 😃. You choose who is a moderate Muslim & who is not.https://x.com/Realoilsheikh/status/1990035741963858118? |

Any Islamic organizations that want to invite Islamic scholars for conference should first submit their names to xtians for approval We need them to approve their names because we don’t want them to be writing words on twitter and nairaland |

naptu2:His view on women and slavery is rather backward, and the only reason I'd support his invitation is if he can be challenged on those views.

Nothing stop federal government to be screening these types of people before they enter the country, if we are security conscious, it's not the students or even university community that is supposed to block them, when they have already entered the country. |

naptu2:They have paid someone to come and instigate them again. A paid extremist this time to remind them of the importance of Jihad and to further confirm Trump's cry of the Jihad on infidels in Nigeria, chosing Lagos and Abuja is strategic and a disguise. |

Who paid for these people to come? Ultimately there are some Islamic sponsors who take this Jihad of a thing as a matter of life and death. The need to indoctrinate more people to make more extremist to carry out the killings( Christian Cleansing) |
