20 minutes in even with our goal, I observed that they were playing better than us. They are truly a well drilled side.
They played us though out the second half till the last minute of extra time and yet people wants to put all the blame on Chelle

Ekong is our designated penalty taker, yet he was ignored for an Awaziem who wasn't trusted enough to take a kick.

I don't just know..
I will never understand the decision

Iwobi's best role is not even as an AM. At Fulham, he delivers best as a wingfielder or false winger but positionally looks like he plays LW or RW. We have said this over and over and made calls for it so that another talent takes up the CAM role fully.

So your defence for Chelle is not cogent especially as Chukwueze started as the AM today. Not Iwobi.

An out of sorts Iwobi was shifted into the role later on with a midfield dynamics of zero. So Chelle never truly played Iwobi in his best role nor with the best personnel.

Samueltemi337:
The Chelle y'all was saying plays Iwobi out of position
Today Iwobi played as an attacking midfielder yet nothing changed
Is time we stop putting all the blame on the coach when things like this happens

My empathy and condolences go out to Osimhen. In 2030 he will be an old man. Pathetic performance from the whole team including the coach. Let’s move on to Afcon in December

Actually Zaidu deserves his spot as the first choice LB ahead of Bruno. Was solid all through.

TheGoodJoe:
@TheSuperNerd, why was Sanusi starting ahead of Bruno Onyemachi? Pardon my lapses, I have not been following our football for a while.

TheGoodJoe:
A sweet win but I still see the Eric Chelle is still sorting out his set up. We still have lots of work to do with our transition from midfield to attack, especially when dealing with a compact midfield.

I give him props with what he is doing with Ndidi but he needs to really work hard in building a more fluid midfield players.

I hope with time he switches to a more rich midfield set up.
My post after the win. Note the bolded.

He yanked off our "Aje butter fine boy striker",the same way he relegated our captain Ekong to permanent bench. If he remains as Super Eagles coach, I'm sure you will see Tolu in that team except by miracle.
I actually thought the coach would leave him on the pitch for the penalties and also bring Ekong on. He didn’t manage the shoot-out well.

I commended Eric Chelle for the kind of wingers he invited, but i wasn't swayed by the results.

The goals we conceded were down to positioning.
The CB's kept a highline, and will not recover easily. Eric Chelle should have corrected this.

Alhassan Yusuf is a genuine central midfielder, why was he not featured.

We are not yet ready to build a sound tactical playing side. When we are ready, NFF will seat up.
NFF can't take all the blames. We all know they're bunch of incompetent frauds running NFF but today's performance is on these players. How do you get outplayed in that manner? And they call themselves pro players? Some of them can't even do basic things🤦‍♂️
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 11:29pm On Nov 16, 2025
Chelle called up Uche and Onyedika. Did he not? He also played them vs Russia, did he not? He had his chances to blood in the right personnel but stuck with whatever he stuck with.

For example, Ndidi was not great game after game until against Gabon wherr he finally shone. And it was same Ndidi who cost us today as well.

Ragingthunder:
una don start,so Chelle should be experimenting in the playoffs final?

Valid point though but Ghana wouldn't dominate us as DRC did. That one wouldn't happen.

We need to actually design youth programs to develop ball playing midfielders, like scout them young, profile them, train them and the gifted ones push them into our cadet teams…

Like selective breeding since we don’t naturally produce proper ball playing midfielders, we must be intentional about it.

Enough of the nonsense and mediocrity, if we have just two proper midfielders, we will be dispatching teams and qualifying with ease…

We were dominated in the middle with 4-3-3. How do you expect them not to crucify us in a 4-4-2 system. Our problem is in the middle.

Who will transit the ball from the midfield to the attack? Who? I'm asking grin
TheGoodJoe:
That is because we are still not properly screened and coached.

If DR Congo can hold and move the ball, transition in phases from defense to midfield to attack why can't we just do it?
SE does not train on how to transit the ball from defense to midfield to attack.

If they trained, then SE won't be having a back 4 or back 6 most of the time they would have a back 2 because the fullbacks and DMs would move to midfield as ball transits but SE just sits and let's the opponents pressed them.

Setting aside the fact that the players were godawful themselves, we had two full days to train and work tactics, and somehow we couldn't plan in the event of penalties? Did Chelle seriously think the game was sure to be wrapped in regular time?

You couldn't bring in Ekong in the dying seconds to prepare for the shootout?

I get that he's still somewhat inexperienced with the squad, but really?!

Also, you're monitoring 5000+ players, and somehow you can't identify anyone to solve a midfield problem we've been having for almost decades now?

Like I said, Eric Chelle stays, but my oh my was he thoroughly exposed in this game.

At a point, I blamed CAF for clearing Ndidi for the match. Onyedika could have replaced him and might have done better.
I faulted Iwobi largely for the equaliser
Looks like CAF was doing everything for us to qualify grin

We just lack quality; let's stop all the hype. If Osihmen doesn't come to the party, we are doomed

That former Sierra Leonean player who said Osihmen was the only leader in this team was right after all. No Osihmen, no party!

We were completely outplayed.

If not for the efforts of Frederick in defence and the lack of a clinical striker by DRC, it would have been disaster!!!!

Superman sorry SuperNerd grin i enjoy your writeups alot but you see this one abeg leave Iwobi and the fans alone... Regardless of his f*cking position or roles, abah! That guy sees himself as one small boy in that team. Iwobi should be taking charge, carrying the team for head like Gala but no it must be Osimhen.

Win us games, No
Oya mark , No

The ones we produce don't play for top teams so they don't get call ups invitation.
