Nigeria Can't Continue On This Path: Atiku Condemns Abduction Of Schoolgirls by treesun(op): 5:30pm On Nov 17, 2025
He said the incident was a painful reminder of Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation and the growing vulnerability of schoolchildren in the region.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has condemned the latest wave of violence sweeping across the country, warning that Nigeria is sliding deeper into an unprecedented security collapse under the current administration.

Atiku, in a statement on Monday, said he was “devastated” by the attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State, where armed men killed the Vice-Principal and abducted several students in yet another assault on education in the North.

He said the incident was a painful reminder of Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation and the growing vulnerability of schoolchildren in the region.

The former Vice President also condemned the killing of APC chieftain Umar Moriki and the mass abductions in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where bandits reportedly kidnapped dozens of residents, including women and children.

Atiku described the attacks as “barbaric” and symptomatic of a country losing control of its security environment.

“These acts of barbarity have no place in a civilised society,” he said, insisting that the scale and frequency of the attacks show the government’s inability to protect its citizens.

Atiku said the tragedy in Kebbi and Zamfara mirrors similar bloodshed in Plateau, Benue, and other states where rural communities continue to suffer killings, displacement, and destruction.

He specifically noted reports from Shanono LGA in Kano, where residents fled their homes in fear following fresh attacks, saying the situation underscores a national emergency that can no longer be ignored.

The former Vice President called on the President Bola Tinubu-led government to urgently review and strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture, insisting that the current strategy has failed.

“Nigeria cannot continue on this path,” Atiku warned.

“The government must deploy adequate personnel to vulnerable communities and intensify intelligence-led operations. Our citizens deserve protection, dignity, and peace — nothing less.”

He said the wave of killings and abductions across the country has exposed the weakness of the current security framework and demanded decisive action from the authorities.

The sad part is if you put Atiku there today, the situation will even worsen. That has been the pattern, a sad trajectory indeed.

I don't even know what is Nigeria solution, aswear.

This is a sad reminder that Nigeria is fast falling apart but we choose to live in denial.
My people use to say 'when you bring in an ant infested wood into your house, you are going to have lizard as your guest'.Whatever that means,if you know, you know!
My heart goes out to the innocent school children, who are victims of Nigeria dirty politics.

The only thing giving me worry is that Tinubu's kingsmen are ready to vote for him come 2027. They don't care if he's competent or not as long as he's yourba he should be allowed to finish his second term.

That's the kind of people I'm sharing a country with

Even if Atiku or Obi gets there, is it not the same Nigerian military personnel that would go after the miscreants? Or would Obi bring nzobu nzobu boys to engage them?

If we talk them go say we don’t know what we are saying…

Nigeria is a failed country. If you have the means leave that Godforsaken country.

You can stay only if you have 4 lives like Mario. But for those who only have one life, don’t let this useless failed entity put you and your family in pain and agony.

The northerners are a different breed.
They prefer doing the same thing over and over and expect a different result.

When it comes to elections, instead of them to surprise everybody and do the right thing for once against their historical biases, that is when they will start reminding you about ahmadu bello and 1967.

Insanity.

Why this keeps on happening in the northern Nigeria?
Something is fundamentally wrong somewhere.
I suspect inner collaboration.

There is no government in Nigeria.

They are busy celebrating politicians defecting to APC while terrorists are annexing communities.

Na tulumbu people reject trump pass the north sef.

Makes one wonder why? Them no dey use palms cober pregnancy.

Government wey don fail, don fail. Hiring of omokrikri or "undaniel -bu-a- lie" to come lie to your moronic slaves/support group, changes nothing. It makes it worse instead.

grin grin. A responsible government doesn't need a year to fix security and steady power supply. grin grin

His reaction is timely but not genuine. Everyone can still remember how he deleted the X post on the student Deborah, who was set ablaze by Islamic fanatics.

Why reason in surrender
The north contested and were prepared to continue after Buhari

So why should the south hand it back on a platter

I told people this. Atiku would only make it worse. Their leaders created this carnage, and their region enabled it. Now it's a bane!

They will use bandit to destroy this country and make the current administration look bad. Then use the misfortune they've created to campaign for election. This is also the same thing the previous administration did.

This politicians are the biggest curse Nigeria currently face. They're worse than natural disaster.

Atiku Abubakar was among the key figures who helped build the APC, the same party that is now inflicting hardship and insecurity on ordinary Nigerians.
The situation is becoming unbearable. The USA and the international community need to act fast, because things are truly getting out of hand.

Mr. President. What is going on? Where are you? Please say something.

Did you watch the video of the execution of your General? Muhammed Uba? He was brave till the point of death.

A whole General was ambushed, escaped for almost a day and then captured on NIGERIAN SOIL and nothing has happened.

By now, I believe you should have marshalled the entire resources of the Nigerian nation to destroy the animals who did this. You need to move your office to Dikwa, Borno State and stop this abomination.

If they can do this to a General with thousands of troops at his disposal and side, what is the hope or unarmed civilians.
