And who said they were gifts? If I bought a car and gave you to use while im away, does that equate to gift?

Did you read what it says on that image there? The law requires that the person asserting them— trying to take back the item — be responsible for providing proof that it was not a gift. So? undecided

This is why I never dated broke men until I got married.

Many broke guys are too childish. If I'm the girl, he will pay for every round he went .

I will charge each round for 500k then calculate all he bought.

I hate rubbish
500k for a round? Stop dreaming sweetie. The pleasure was mutual.

The guy is dead wrong if he gifted her stuff. When you give someone a gift ... it is not conditional ... it then legally belongs to the receiver. If she can prove they were gifts ... as in using email ..chats or videos as evidence. .. she can take him to court and have them back ...or be paid their value. Engagement ring one can take back .... that is given on condition that the two will marry. If the relationship falls apart ..then the condition was not met and the ring can be reclaimed by the buyer.

Maybe this guy is one of those public kneel and propose guys who got embarrassed so he's bitter....taking back his gifts! ... doesn't know he's sending red flag message to potential girl friends

Tell the woman to join Nairaland and come tell us her side of the story! This is, after all, a faceless forum where she can hide her identity from all of us, including you if she so wanted to. So, what is there for you to be afraid of? grin
have you no friends?

the worst company a married woman can have is a single, unmarried female friend. I prefer she stays away from people like that.

I knew u was going to come across this silly comment. So the girl hasn't been knacking him too? Two people dey knack each other but it's expected that one person pay for the knacking with properties. What properties did the girl buy for the boy for knacking him? Was there an agreement for these properties to be a form of payment for knacking? That's because you are insecure and certain that those single, unmarried female friends would invariably reveal to her how little value you truly bring to her existence, right? I grew up around your kind: men do all that is possible to isolate their wives from friends — outside support of their own—and family, in some cases, who could get in the way of them maintaining control over their wives. grin grin grin

. There is something inherently wrong with an individual who sees having a girlfriend as something that is no different from banging a pr0stitute. If you consider a lover to you— meant to invest time, emotional, mental, and physical labor into a relationship with you— to a pr0stitute who only invests physical labor for a limited time, which you are required to pay for, then you should probably avoid commenting on these sort of threads and focus your energy on just pr0stitutes and no other women out there. lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed

Nigerian Youth Storms Ex-Girlfriend’s House, Reclaims Every Item He Bought for Her

A viral video has surfaced online showing a young Nigerian man arriving at his ex-girlfriend’s residence with a team of friends to recover all the items he previously bought for her.

In the clip, the group is seen packing several belongings out of the apartment, suggesting he intended to take back everything he ever gifted her during their relationship.

In the background, a woman can be heard criticizing the young man, repeatedly asking whether he is not ashamed of himself for such an action. Despite the comments, he continued overseeing the packing without hesitation.

The footage has stirred reactions on social media, with users divided over whether his actions were justified or unnecessary.

I just love our Nigerian females particularly the ones we have on Nairaland, they choose the topic they can bark on but once it involves a woman in the wrong you'd see that most of them will be quiet and not even bother themselves to drop their unhinged logical comments.

from your screenshot, even as I'm not lawyer I've seen like three things the boy can use to defend himself in court of law... try to always study and think before talk.... with this your screenshot, the said boy has sin the case already. Advice girls not to take things if they know that they don't have anything to do with the boys rather.

Sadly their attitude does not empower women as they think.
They only highlight failure to be accountable for their actions and always blame men for everything.

The hypocrisy that we already know.

Only about 1% of women say the truth about women here on NL. I hope such women get the very best guys possible as bf and hubby.

If your girlfriend treated sex the same way a pr0stitute treated sex, would you not have to pay her then for the time, emotional, mental, and physical energy she expends in the relationship with you? undecided

For many men, all they bring to their relationships is just the money they bring into them. (Many other men are simply terrible in bed, so the sex may indeed be nothing to write home about.) So why do you consider it wrong for a woman to at least gain that much from the relationship? Or is she not supposed to gain any value whatsoever from it all? undecided

I have no idea what this here means. How can people who literally barged into another person's home and stole items from it say they can defend themselves a crime the video serves as proof of? The sense is not sensing on this submission of yours,ol'boy! huh

One minister's son in Abuja, not Wike, but an Igbo man... bought a house worth 50 million Naira for a gal, bought a car for the gal and the girl's father. Now building a new house in another location in Abuja for this same gal, these are some of the few things i know about that gal... imagine the gal getting escorted with police and dss escort most of the times... The security details attached to the boy are sometimes asked to go meet her by the boy

He is paying for the girl's sch fees, travelling expenses in first class and weekly expenses in millions...

D gal broke up with the dude, the dude nearly committed hmmm, u know na... Bt still they got together again... it obvious the gal doesn't like the guy

tell me, do you think he will take any of those things back ? in the first break up, he didn't even bother.

d gal is around 22yrs old... if u need further proof... u can pay for it

u can believe it or not... I am telling u d exact truth
That was stolen 💰 money.

Go and work honestly then leave your sweat for a leech 22 year old let us see.

Poor girls should learn to live within their own means.

Relationship is not a stealing venture.

If you need gifts, tell your own father to buy for you

The girl does not have receipts for any of those items.

The guy can accuse her of theft and she will go to jail.

Poor girls should stop entering relationships.

Don't enter relationships to obtain by false pretense. That is 419. A criminal offense.

Poor girls should meet their father to buy them gifts

Loyal in what sense? Because a girl decided to date you, she should not be expected to stop dating you when she finally realizes she gains nothing from remaining with you or finds that she can do better with someone else. Is that it? Why do so many of you think or believe you are entitled to loyalty from women when you have none of that to offer them in return? huh

You didn't read the details presented in that image at all, did you? Do you know what a gift is?
Under Nigerian law, once an unconditional gift is validly given and accepted, ownership is fully transferred to the recipient, and the giver has no legal right to demand it back after a breakup. Forcibly retrieving a gift without consent can be considered a crime, such as theft or forceful entry.
Note that the above says nothing of the receiver needing a receipt in hand to prove an item was gifted. 🥱🥱

2. You really need to work on your comprehension skills, my boy! The man showed up(uninvited) to pick up what we are told are gifts, which he gave to the girl while they were dating. The text above in read clearly states that what he did is legally considered theft and forceful entry. 🥱🥱

3. A better solution would be for tiny-brained little men to quit
➜ Dating girls they cannot afford
➜ Probably work on growing themselves financially so they do not feel the need to resort to invading homes and engaging in possible theft when they get their hearts broken. 🥱🥱

Your statement "I don't follow or agree with any of Africa's many traditions" is a powerful one. It raises a fundamental question. can anyone truly be a person without a history? To completely sever oneself from one's cultural roots, however flawed some aspects may be, is to risk becoming adrift.

This reference to slavery is not a personal insult, but a historical metaphor for the ultimate consequence of a people being stripped of their identity, their traditions, and their right to self-determination.

When you say you don't agree with your tradition, what history, then, do you stand on?

Who defines your values and your place in the world?

Why do you people keep skirting the facts here?

The image I posted clearly informs you that, in the case of a gift, once the gift changes hands from the donor to the recipient, it becomes the property of the recipient. (It no longer matters that the donor has the receipt.) And once that has happened, forcibly retrieving a gift without consent(from the recipient) can be considered a crime, such as theft or forceful entry. undecided

Now for this law a smart way to avoid this law going against you is buying everything for the girl in your name hence she is just a caretaker of what you bought and na person name way de property na buy am. When ladies use relationship as an avenue to generate revenue men need to be wise else they will be pimping a lady for someone else. So as a man no over do. Make sure you've spent on your parents and sisters before spending on that girl. I can't buy for a girl what I've not done for my sister. Na so some guys go de buy iPhone for babe and their sister de use rubbish phone. Family stays till the end no matter my status. But this is different for a WIFE. Wife first (with caution as well) before family members.

Trying to blame the lady in this case for the man choosing to gift her all those things is tiny-brained and an attempt to avoid holding these men accountable for their immature behavior towards women who reject or dump them in love. undecided

A woman does not owe a man her life in any sort of relationship. The moment she believes she no longer benefits from a relationship with any man, or she conceives that she is investing more than she benefits from the union, she has every right to exit the relationship. So, men who think they are entitled to a woman's time and energy without reciprocal return are just being ridiculous. Also, men who date women whom they realize are above their league, only to then cry foul when such women decide they are ready to level up, are not victims but immature beings. And I truly believe these men should be penalized by women like these. I really wish the woman in the OP would get advice to call the cops and report the man and his friends to the police for what they need. undecided

2. You should probably not bother dating any woman at all, because after all is said and done, it seems many of you do not need lovers, but pr0stitutes who would only charge you for the cost of the exact time and physical labor they invest in you—with none of the emotional and mental investment that lovers bring. I think many of you are doing the wrong thing by looking for girlfriends when what you need are pr0stitutes. undecided

I don't want to insult you but ya making it so hard. Relationship is a contract. The fact that if you gift a girl something you can't get it back after break up does not make the one that do it a bad person. Everybody has their ways. I personally, don't have problem with a guy wanting to retrieve things he got for a girl during their relationship if things goes south. She should also go and get her things back. So you mean if your sister got a guy a TV during their courtship and things goes south, if you believe there is nothing that same guy gifted your sister to equal the worth of that TV gift, you will not talk your girl or go there yourself to retrieve the TV? you want his new woman to come and enjoy the TV?
Don't you think the girl too should go and collect everything he took from her like her body, time and other non physical things.

Just saying 😜😜😜🤣🤣🤣
