NJI Debunks Viral Claim That Judges Sang ‘on Your Mandate’ At Conference by Putindbutt(op): 9:04am On Nov 20, 2025
The National Judicial Institute, NJI, has denied reports that judges sang ‘On Your Mandate We Shall Stand’ for President Bola Tinubu during the 2025 Judges Conference held in Abuja on Monday.

NJI, which coordinated the judges conference, refuted the reports in a statement on Wednesday by Mr Kolade Umoru, Head, Information, Media and Public Relations. Stressing that the reports were entirely false, unfounded, and did not reflect the events that transpired at the event NJI urged the public to exercise restraint, verify information, and avoid amplifying falsehoods capable of undermining the integrity of national institutions.

Parts of the statement read, “The attention of the National Judicial Institute (NJI) has been drawn to several misleading and inaccurate reports circulating on social media suggesting that Judges in attendance at the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 All Nigeria Judges Conference sang a political chorus (“On Your Mandate We Shall Stand”) in allegiance to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“This claim is entirely false, unfounded, and does not reflect the events that transpired at the ceremony.

“For the avoidance of doubt: The National Anthem was the only song rendered collectively by all participants at both the commencement and conclusion of the Opening Ceremony.

“No Judge in attendance sang or chanted any political song at any point during the programme. “The brief rendition of the tune “On Your Mandate” was not initiated, requested, or endorsed by the Judiciary.

It was played solely by the Guards Brigade Band as part of their ceremonial protocol to usher the President to the podium for his address.

“The Judiciary had no control over the musical selections of the Brigade, which operates under military ceremonial procedures. “Out of due deference to the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Judges rose to their feet as the President walked to the podium.

“The Judiciary remains strictly non-partisan, deeply committed to constitutional neutrality, and wholly insulated from political activities or symbols of political allegiance.

“The 2025 All Nigeria Judges Conference is a statutory and professional gathering focused on strengthening the justice system and reinforcing public confidence in the Judiciary.

“Any attempt to distort the solemnity of the event or attribute political motives to judicial officers is unfortunate, misleading, and a disservice to the public.

“We urge members of the public and the media to exercise restraint, verify information, and avoid amplifying falsehoods capable of undermining the integrity of national institutions.

“The Judiciary will continue to uphold its oath of office with dignity, independence, and unwavering fidelity to the Constitution.”

Re: NJI Debunks Viral Claim That Judges Sang ‘on Your Mandate’ At Conference by Putindbutt(op):
From the video, it was the Guard Brigade that played the sound to usher President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the podium. We didn't see or hear judges chanting the song but of course, the bitter election losers will do what they know how to do best and twist the narrative even when the video is very clear.
However, whether the judges sang it or not, "On your mandate" has become the 2nd official anthem of Nigeria. Every individual or institution is at liberty to sing whatever song the wish to.
The problem is the hypocrisy of the wailers, especially the Bitter Obidients. We remember lawyers were taking pictures with PitaObi during the NBA conference before the election, many of them were singing " Obi kekerenke ", to Obidients, nothing was wrong about it. imagine Obi was President, every institutions would have been singing Obi kekerenke and they won't raise an eyebrow. But it is Tinubu, their nightmare, then they must wail. Trust me, Atiku and Obi will sing on your mandate after Jagaban finally bury their political ambitions in 2027.

Why should such song be rendered in such gatherings though the brigade of guard may want to impress the the president when he didn't send them
Re: NJI Debunks Viral Claim That Judges Sang ‘on Your Mandate’ At Conference by TimeManager(m): 9:26am On Nov 20, 2025
The video was clear enough, the Presidential Guard Brigade only played the tune of the song while the judges stood up to welcome the President to the podium. None of the judges sang along. This is a standard protocol whereby the President has the prerogative to determine what song would usher him on stage. And it is not only limited to conferences, forums, or political gatherings, it cuts across all activities, including presentation of budget or any other official presentations. It's just a matter of protocols.

The question is, why should that song be played in official functions? Is it now part of the national anthem??

Didn't see them singing but the playing of that pernicious, demonic and satanic song was in bad taste at such an occasion.
Re: NJI Debunks Viral Claim That Judges Sang ‘on Your Mandate’ At Conference by U09ce: 9:57am On Nov 20, 2025
Yeah. It's true. But such a tune shouldn't be used for the president. It erodes the neutrality of the military. How would it make sense for such a song to be played during a campaign season?

The brigade should compose neutral tunes that can be sung for whoever becomes president, it should convey loyalty that's due to the office and not the person occupying it.

Those who pushed the propaganda knew it never happened
They knew the truth but chose to push the lies

They knew it was the President's men that played the mandate song and not the judges .

Very mischievous set of people always chasing shadows. Including the use1ess Arise TV and all there crew.
The president finished delivering his message to the judges and lawyers. As a sign of respect, they stood up to applaud him which is very much normal and in place. In the usual character of the band, they played the "on your mandate we shall stand" at a time when the judges were still standing. Did you hear them sing it aside the sound from the band? That's why i always say common sense is far from some people. It is just 1% of the 1% of Nigerians that knows the whole thing is just pure mischief. However, delusional people can keep using this to keep themselves happy after all they gain there energy from insulting Tinubu
