The truth is that God is unknowable, as IT completely transcends our reality. We can no more know or understand God than an amoeba in a water puddle in the Amazon Forest can hope to know of, or understand the existence of multiverses.

In our attempts to give meaning to our existence we have created ideas of gods - many of them absolute abominations and monstrosities, such as Yahweh and Allah.

If God exists, IT may very well be a neutral impersonal existential force at the root of all reality.

1. The non-scriptural references to him are painfully few - one or two references in Josephus stand out, and even there, it is argued that such were deliberate insertions by the Church/ establishment at a later point in order to establish the historical Jesus. There are references to Christ by Tacitus, Pliny the Younger and Suetonius - that of Tacitus stands out as well, but those of the other two do nothing to establish a historical Jesus but refer mainly to the existence of the early church and their worship of Christ.

2. There were several people during that same period who claimed to be the messiah and went about with some following and appeared to be said to do some wonders of some kind.

4. To the extent that the fundamental teaching of the resultant Jesus is said to be love, brotherhood and forgiveness, I see it as a high and noble teaching.
