Hello everyone, good evening! I just got a used Nigerian Toyota Camry 08 XLE.
It's my first car..

The mechanic checked everything out – engine, gearbox, and catalyst – and gave it a thumbs up. The only thing he mentioned was some work needed on the car's shaft and oil filter because of [b]oil leakage [/b]he spotted..

Could anyone recommend some essential maintenance I should get done now that I have it?

Also, what scan tool would you suggest I get for it? Thanks in advance for any advice!

This are my concerns in this your post......

Oil leak... This to me is a red flag when buying tokunbo or naija used cars. Where is the oil leak coming from

Filters... It is highly recommended to always change filters when doing oil change. The previous owner must of not being changing oil filter for the mechanic to say that there is oil leak because of filters.....

A bad oil filter will must likely caused your engine to have issues due to poor quality or fake ..

So, the oil was checked, and the vehicle was parked for 48 hours. The mechanic checked again and said that if the oil level had dropped, then the engine was likely in bad shape. However, since the oil wasn't leaking significantly, just a few drops, he thinks it might be a faulty oil filter.

What do you think about that, sir?

Because me I never hear say oil they leak coz of faulty oil filter. Well maybe it dey possible. Coz me just dey confused

Good morning all, the leak was from the oil seal.. it has been fixed and i have not seen any oil leak for for some days now..

It sometimes needs to be repeatedly like two or three times to start..

The car is thumb starter..
The mechanic said he will change the switch which he has done but the problem is still there..

When it doesnt stat at once. Are you sure there is enough fuel inside it.... secondly the plugs maybe bad or expired.if 1 or two of the pkugs are bad.the car would be having hard starting. A good plugs is always brown or tan brown. A bd plug is pure black with enuf carbon at the tip...thirdly its possible the car battery don dey sapa. Mybe the owner bought the battery 3 years ago.u might ned to check the plugs and coils,check the battery if it still has water...a weak battery will cause hard starting. U never even enjoy the car,meko with rewire are already wanking to spoil the car 4u. B4 the scammer rewire jumps to start saying its starter. B4 then. Go to where you have the fusebox..check on the diagram behind the fuse box plastic and locate the fuse tagged efi.if its bad
It might be giving you hard starts

A rewire would be best for that kind of problem. The kick starter might be the culprit.

Alaye it's a used car,so no fear. If e too bad maybe na oil seal change which is mechanical ,no big deal.camry doest have complex wiring for electricals,buy am if u wan buy am. Sha no raise engine.e go knock. No be sports car ot high rev engine

The airbag off and on disappeared on it own, i haven't seem in for some days now, I didn't scan or do any work on the car..
The car bring out this noise when it is selecting gears..
But the gear selections is good.

Ac in drivers side and passenger vent at the back side is not chilling.
The passenger seat at the front chills well..

The car speakers seems to be damaged because if u put a song above 15 it's starts sounding like the speaker is broken..

Thy dont raise or rev or race 4plugs engine .the engine go knock. The rods aint thick. Ud brek them and then become broke. A 4plugs is suposed to be driven gently.even if it is camry sports.

Speaker not broken. Its the radiator of the speaker,the foam surrounding it is probably torn.check it out.if its shifteduse super fluebto gum it back.if its torn.replace it. Ac vents .either bad thermostat,leaking ac pipes,low gas or almighty weak compressor.

Seems the parts are expensive..
My guys don put fear for my body so..
Should i sell it and look for v4 4 plug.
Everything i complained about has been fixed and its in good shape currently..
