In the 1980's and backwards parents had the blessing of seeing even their great-grandchildren before they died.

Simple maths: If one family births an average of 8 children, if those children marry each other, how many would they be?

Answer: it takes 2 to birth have a child.

So we have 4 couples. Each couple has 8 kids.

How many are they now?

Out of 32, remove the 8 parents, so we have 24 children who marry.

That means 12 couples with 8 children each. How many children now? That is 12 x 8 children = 96 children.
