Terrorists Strike Abuja Community Hours After Tinubu's Emergency Declaration, Kidnap Seven Residents
November 27, 2025
NEWS

No fewer than seven people were abducted from Gidan-Bijimi, a village in the Kawu ward of Bwari Area Council, Abuja, on Wednesday night, just hours after President Bola Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency.

The gunmen stormed the village around 10pm, shooting indiscriminately before whisking away the victims.

Residents told Daily Trust that the attackers struck from the border area between Abuja and Kaduna State, leaving panic and fear in their wake.

Suleiman Shuaibu, whose cousin was among the kidnapped, confirmed that the victims included a 16-year-old boy and six girls aged 17 to 23.

“It was around 9:53 pm when a call came from the Gidan-Bijimi community that some bandits invaded the village and abducted six young girls, unfortunately my cousin sister happened to be among the victims,” he said.

Shuaibu added that local vigilantes attempted to resist the attackers but were quickly overpowered by the bandits’ superior firepower.

Meanwhile, the abduction comes barely 24 hours after President Tinubu declared the nationwide security emergency, aimed at curbing the rising wave of bandit attacks in Kwara, Niger, Kebbi, and other states.

The president’s directive included the immediate recruitment of 20,000 police officers and 30,000 military personnel, conversion of NYSC camps into training depots, withdrawal of police escorts from high-profile officials, and deployment of State Security Service operatives to flush out bandits from forest hideouts.

BREAKING: Tinubu declares state of emergency on security, orders massive recruitment

…mulls backing for State Police

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday declared state of emergency on security and also ordered the recruitment of additional personnel for the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian Army as part of his resolve to end the scourge of insurgency, banditry and kidnappings in the country.

President Tinubu in a statement he personally signed and issued by State House, disclosed that additional 20,000 officers will be recruited for the Nigerian Police Force to bring the number to 50,000.

The statement was however silent on estimated figure of additional hands for the Army.

Also, in a bold move to get rid of terrorists who have taken over forests across the country as their safe haven, President Tinubu instructed the Department of State Services ” to immediately deploy all the forest guards already trained to flush out the terrorists and bandits lurking in our forests.

President Tinubu vowed that “there will be no more hiding places for agents of evil.”

The President also dropped the hint of his intention to support the National Assembly in creating an enabling legislation for the creation of State police.

President Tinubu, who last year created the Ministry of Livestock Development as part of his proactive measures to change the narrative on farmers-herders clashe,s particularly in the Middle Belt region, further declared that open grazing would no longer be tolerated.

President Tinubu maintained that “ranching is now the path forward for sustainable livestock farming and national harmony.”

His statement read in part, “Today, in view of the emerging security situation, I have decided to declare a nationwide security emergency and order additional recruitment into the Armed Forces.

“By this declaration, the police and the army are authorised to recruit more personnel. The police will recruit an additional 20,000 officers, bringing the total to 50,000.

“Although I had previously approved the nationwide upgrade of police training facilities, the police authorities are, by this statement, authorised to use various National Youth Service Corps camps as training depots.

The officers being withdrawn from VIP guard duties should undergo crash training to debrief them and deliver more efficient police services when deployed to security-challenged areas of the country.

“The DSS also has my authority to immediately deploy all the forest guards already trained to flush out the terrorists and bandits lurking in our forests.

“The agency also has my directive to recruit more men to man the forests. There will be no more hiding places for agents of evil.

“My fellow Nigerians, this is a national emergency, and we are responding by deploying more boots on the ground, especially in security-challenged areas.

“The times require all hands on deck. As Nigerians, we should all get involved in securing our nation.

“Let me take this moment to commend our security agencies for working together to secure the release of the 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and the 38 worshippers in Kwara State.

“We will continue to sustain the efforts to rescue the remaining students of Catholic School in Niger State and other Nigerians still being held hostage.

“To the leadership and rank and file of our Armed Forces, I commend your courage and your sacrifice. This is a challenging moment for our nation and for the military institution itself.

“I charge you to remain resolute, to restore peace across all theatres of operation, and to uphold the highest standards of discipline and integrity. There must be no compromise, no collusion, and no negligence.

“The Nigerian people are counting on you, and this administration will provide the support you need to succeed.

“In addition, our administration will support State Governments which have set up security outfits to safeguard their people from the terrorists bent on disrupting our national peace.

“I call on the National Assembly to begin reviewing our laws to allow States that require State police to establish them.

States should rethink establishing boarding schools in remote areas without adequate security. Mosques and churches should constantly seek police and other security protection when they gather for prayers, especially in vulnerable areas.

“Our administration created the Livestock Ministry to address the persistent clashes between herders and farmers. I call on all herder associations to take advantage of it, end open grazing and surrender illegal weapons.

“Ranching is now the path forward for sustainable livestock farming and national harmony. The Federal Government, in collaboration with the states, will work with you to solve this problem, once and for all.

“I sympathise with the families who have lost their loved ones in recent attacks on soft targets in Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Yobe, and Kwara States. I also pay tribute to our brave soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, including Brigadier-General Musa Uba.

“Those who want to test our resolve should never mistake our restraint for weakness. This administration has the courage and determination to keep the country safe and ensure our citizens live in peace.

“Fellow Compatriots, I urge you not to give in to fear and never succumb to despair. Let’s stand together in purpose and strength to defend our freedom and values.

“Our administration will continue to guarantee peaceful co-existence and preserve our union.

“I urge all Nigerians to remain calm and vigilant. Report suspicious activities. Cooperate with security agencies. We are in this fight together, and together we shall win.

“May God continue to bless Nigeria and keep our armed forces safe.”

That statement was a waste of time. If Tinubu is serious about fighting terrorism he will look inwards. Some members of his cabinet are terrorists apologists.

Hmmmmm

Meaning to quietly disband his government and leave office? If we factor in what Baraje of APC said about 2015 and accusations against some members of this government, then this government need to quietly leave on its own.

Arewa Forum Condemns Continued Detention Of Popular Hunter Musa Aljan Who Helped Government To Arrest Terrorist Kingpins
December 6, 2025
NEWS

The Arewa Youth Ambassadors (AYA) have demanded the immediate and unconditional release of renowned hunter and anti-terrorism volunteer, Shehu Musa Aljan, condemning his continued imprisonment by the Nigerian government despite his extraordinary contributions to national security.

In a statement issued by its National Coordinator, Comrade Yahaya M. Abdullahi, the group said Aljan, whose key roles led to the arrest of several terrorist kingpins and rescue of kidnapped victims and rustled cattles, deserved national recognition, not the 45-year jail term currently hanging over him.

AYA expressed concern that a man widely regarded across northern communities as a fearless frontline defender is being punished instead of honoured.

Arewa Youth Ambassadors (AYA)

According to the group, Aljan played a key role for years by assisting security agencies in tracking and apprehending terrorist kingpins, rescuing kidnapped victims, and providing critical intelligence in regions where state presence was weak or absent.

For more than a decade, local hunters in northern Nigeria have served as an informal but essential layer of security, especially in remote communities vulnerable to banditry and insurgency.

Their intimate knowledge of forests, hideouts, and escape routes has made them valuable partners for the military, police, and vigilante networks.

Experts say the efforts of these volunteers have prevented large-scale attacks, stabilised local communities, and complemented overstretched state resources.

Among them, Aljan emerged as one of the most trusted and effective figures.

Residents recount stories of his fearlessness, his willingness to pursue heavily armed criminals, and his consistent collaboration with security forces.

Community leaders say his work directly contributed to the arrest of several high-profile terrorist collaborators over the years.

Arewa Youth Ambassadors (AYA)

AYA said it was “deeply troubling” that an individual celebrated as a hero in many northern villages is now behind bars.

While acknowledging the importance of respecting judicial processes, the group argued that justice must consider the broader context of his service and sacrifices.

“Punishing a man who risked his life for this country sends the wrong message,” the statement read.

The organisation warned that imprisoning individuals like Aljan could discourage community cooperation, an element critical to Nigeria’s counter-terrorism strategy.

Security analysts have long emphasised that successful operations depend on strong relationships between citizens and state authorities.

The case has also ignited a wider debate about the treatment of non-state actors who assist in security operations.

Many Nigerians believe such individuals should receive national honours, protection, and structured integration into community policing frameworks.

Instead, Aljan’s imprisonment has raised concerns about fairness and the long-term consequences for public morale.

AYA called on the President, Minister of Justice, traditional leaders, and security agencies to urgently review the circumstances surrounding the conviction.

They insist that Aljan’s bravery should be formally acknowledged, not forgotten in a prison cell.

“The continued detention of Shehu Musa Aljan is a moral and strategic setback,” the group said, insisting that justice must not dampen patriotism but reinforce it through fairness and recognition.

"AYA concluded by reiterating that Shehu Musa Aljan should be celebrated, not forgotten behind bars. They maintain that: His contributions must be formally acknowledged. His case deserves urgent review. His continued detention is a moral and strategic setback. Justice must reflect fairness, not discourage patriotism," the Arewa Youth Ambassadors said.

EXCLUSIVE: Intelligence Report Exposes Kidnapping, Bandit Syndicates Across Northern Nigeria
December 8, 2025
NEWS
EXCLUSIVE

A comprehensive investigation into the activities of kidnappers and bandits across northern Nigeria reveals a complex web of criminal operations involving suspected kingpins, collaborators, and potential connections with politically exposed persons.

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) findings, based on a September 2020 intelligence report, span the North-West and North-East regions and provide detailed insights into the identities, movements, and alleged activities of hundreds of suspects.

North-West Axis: Katsina, Zamfara, and Kaduna Under Siege

The report highlights the North-West as a hotspot for kidnapping and banditry, with Katsina, Zamfara, and Kaduna states heavily affected.

Several high-profile suspects were identified in the report.

According to the report, Samaila Ibrahim (aka Kachalla, Dan Antuna), 24, operating out of Kaduna and Katsina, was reportedly involved in the abduction of Abdullahi Carpenter along the Kaduna–Abuja Expressway.

He is suspected of sourcing weapons or drugs through an associate, “Iliya Kaya.”

Aliyu Abubakar Umar, aka Lalbi 1 and Laibi 2, 25, is linked to multiple kidnappers and is suspected to have connections with law enforcement collaborators and local political figures.

Aish Buhari, 35, allegedly communicates internationally with France and Ghana and has strong ties to the Lalbi network.

Nasiru Mani, aka Sada Lawal, 26, a suspected kidnapper in Katsina, reportedly coordinates with Ibrahim Umaru (Ardo Alti) and receives communications from the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) at odd hours, suggesting possible logistical support for banditry operations.

Umar Sani (Uzairu), 83, maintains communications with suspected kidnappers at flashpoints across the North-West.

The report also identifies several suspected informants and logistics operators, including Ashiru Salisu, Shaaibu Sulaiman, and Sani Farouk, who allegedly provide critical support for abductions, ransom collection, and coordination across Katsina and Zamfara.
