Nairaland Full-Stack AI Coding Challenge by Seun(mod):
I plan to put up a challenge to discover people with strong vibe coding skills. People who can build good software with AI very efficiently.

You will be tasked with building a software project with minimal specifications. You'll build the backend and frontend. Everything.

To provide a level playing field, I will urge all contestants to use a frontier model such as Gemini 3 Pro in AI Studio for planning.

AI Coding will not be mandatory but you will likely not win if you don't use AI because of lack of velocity. You'll be too slow.

This is actually a solid move. A full-stack AI coding challenge is the perfect way to spot people who have both raw skill and the speed needed in 2025. Anyone can code, but not everyone can build end-to-end software fast, clean, and with good judgment.

Using a frontier model like Gemini 3 Pro for planning makes the contest fair as everyone gets the same “AI assistant,” so what sets people apart will be their creativity, reasoning, and ability to turn specs into a real product grin.

AI won’t be compulsory, but let’s be honest… if you’re not using it, you’ll get outrun. This challenge is about velocity, problem-solving, and how well you can collaborate with AI.

Looking forward to seeing the beasts who will emerge from this. wink

Great initiative. I’m definitely in.

But honestly, I’d still pick GPT-5 over Gemini any day, any time. The reasoning capabilities are on another level, especially for complex planning, debugging, and architecture decisions. Since I already have API credits for GPT-5, it just makes sense to stick with the tool I’m fastest and most efficient with.

But yeah, I’ve been deep in the AI space long before the boom — maybe I’ve been soaked in AI rays at this point grin.

Mr. Seun,

I am interested. Kindly let me know when this is on.

Looking forward to building great things together 🙌

You're right....GPT is def in its own world grin. They've been around for years before Google caught the AI fever.

I think GPT-6 may be aware. I mean it may possess something close to human conciousness. grin

Elon musk is planning to upload consciousness using LLM neuro pathways just like the replica movie or free Guy movie tech is getting strange at least we don't need such Level because of various religious beliefs and ethics.

I recently built a voice agent using Vapi and ElevenLabs, and honestly, if not for the fact that they haven’t perfected Nigerian accents like Igbo or Yoruba, you wouldn’t even know it’s AI. The quality is that good.

I’ve been telling people that in the next 2–4 years, actors and actresses are going to feel the impact heavily. Cos producers won’t always need physical actors anymore. With strong LLMs and realistic voice models, you can literally create your own characters from scratch.

We’re already seeing the signs. Most short ads and commercials you come across these days are made with AI, not real actors. That’s how quickly AI is eating into the acting space.

If you don't have the basics you might struggle with the way I struggle on frontend of this simple project I am working on.

I used cursor to generate frontend for my backend but na bug the dude give.

This is where vibe coding comes into play. If I were you I'd just copy the entire code and paste it on Claude and give it a promt to fix the bugs. And viola you'd have a bug free front and back end.

I do the same for JSON codes I use for my schema and AI agent.

Worse possible way to build anything lol... Unless it's just a portfolio project and not meant to generate any money

Lol. If you still believe that writing a 10,000 word code manually from scratch (like the one in his attachment) in this day and age is the best way to build anything...It’s either you don’t fully grasp how software engineering has evolved…or you seriously underestimate what today’s AI tools can do.

The actual skill isn’t proving to everyone that you can suffer so they can applaud you for the number of hours or days you spent building a wonderful project. It’s about knowing how to combine your technical understanding with AI efficiency so you can build smarter, faster, and cleaner.

Spending days typing out what an AI can handle in minutes doesn’t make you a better programmer. It just shows how you’re refusing to upgrade your toolkit while the rest of the industry has moved on.

You're right. Writing code from scratch is complete waste of time now. What you need now is having basic knowledge, from there start using AI. Ive built complex Arduino projects by using chatgpt. Knowing how to use ai now is the new skill needed now. But how do you use Claude without limitations of few prompts

You're telling him to just copy entirety of what he has no idea on and just paste it so the ai can fix.

Even if the AI fixes it he still doesn't particularly know how it was fixed or even if his code is safe and not opening tons of vulnerability.

I'm yet to see any of you vibe coders build any profitable app... Just noise and Tiktok videos

Exactly.

If you want to use Claude, you’ll need to create an account first. As soon as you sign up, you’re automatically placed on the free plan, but that free tier is very limited. You can run out of prompts quickly, and once you exhaust your daily quota, you'd have to wait until the next day before you can continue.

For people who use it heavily, especially for things like coding, where you might need well over 100 prompts in one day, the free plan won’t be enough. In that case, the Pro plan becomes the practical option. It’s about $17 per month, and it offers much more flexibility, higher limits, and overall better access to the model’s features. I'll recommend this one to you.

Lol.

Do you actually understand what we’re even discussing, or are you just dropping replies so you won’t lose the argument?

Didn't you read my last reply, where I said writing 10,000 lines of code manually doesn’t make you a better programmer?

By now, it should be clear to you that my suggested approach towards the guys plight would be to vibe code the entire structure of what he wants to build as a promt into the AI from scratch, then make edits to whatever the AI generates until the desired result is achieved.

And this your how many profitable apps have you built argument is really amusing. Since when did profitability become the standard qualification for being a programmer? So all the people writing backend systems, data scripts, automations, tools, libraries, open source contributions...etc, suddenly don’t count? Is programming now limited to build an app, sell the app and cash out?

In case you don't know, Programming is broader than just building an app. (Besides how many apps have you even built and sold sef to begin with). It’s logic, structure, problem solving, design patterns, algorithms, debugging, and a million other things that have nothing to do with releasing a commercial app.

So please, stop sounding like someone who only has surface level exposure to coding and thinks a few YouTube tutorials equal industry knowledge. Programming goes way deeper than that.

Any ideas for what the challenge should be about?
I'm thinking of the delivery of end-to-end projects that can't be completed in time without using AI.
Where the backend and frontend will be assessed separately.

I think building separately makes sense in my opinion.
