The Bishop of Oji River Diocese, Enugu State, Bishop Ikechukwu Egbuonu, has shared his experience visiting IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu in Sokoto prison. Speaking on AIT, the Bishop said he had to visit Kanu to see how he was doing and was surprised to see that Kanu was in high spirits despite his travail. According to the Bishop, Kanu is still adamant that his trial was baseless as it was done on a none existent law, and that the illegal way he was kidnapped and brought to Nigeria meant the courts had no jurisdiction to try him

He said that Nnamdi Kanu urged him to tell Igbo youths not to turn violent over his conviction, that the judgment will definitely overturned at the court of appeal

When asked if he supports Nnamdi Kanu's agitation, Bishop Ebuonu said that although he does not support everything Nnamdi Kanu does, he supports the agitation because Nigeria is not working

The Igbos will first chose to be identified as Biafrans for that to happen because there is no ethnic group known as Biafrans anywhere in the world. Not a single one.
There was never an amalgamation that brought any of the other groups together to choose the name Biafra as identity.
Biafra was a declaration of a military warlord that was curtailed in 1970. It is a pity people still dwell in this imaginary identity to make themselves inferior under the Nigerian state.

I don't think the Nigerian government thought this through. I don't know how big or how much prisoners go in and out of the Sokoto prison system. But putting someone like NK who is a good orator in the midst of those who believe that the system is unjust to them isn't a very smart move.

You mighty argue that they are Muslim and that the differences in their believe systems may get in the way of messages, but at this point it is just a matter of those being oppressed by the system and their oppressor.
