Any ideas for what the challenge should be about?
I'm thinking of the delivery of end-to-end projects that can't be completed in time without using AI.
Where the backend and frontend will be assessed separately.
Here are my Suggestions.

1. A Smart E-Commerce Store With Inventory Automation

Not just a basic store. Participants must implement

Auto stock update

Product recommendations (AI assisted)

Receipt generation

Backend: Product system

Inventory algorithm

Order processing

Recommendation logic

Frontend:

Product display

Search + filter

Checkout flow

Responsive UI

Or

2. A Smart Estate/Hostel Management System

Features:

Tenant registration

Automated billing

Complaint system

Payment tracking

Admin analytics

Backend: Payment engine

User hierarchy

Automated billing algorithm

Frontend: Tenant dashboard

Admin control panel

School management system in the clouds.--teachers , students . The proprietor can assess it anywhere.

Is there a way to build something that sends signal to your phone whenever a trap catches something in the farm?. The farm has network coverage.

All my 🌽 were consumed by this bush rabbits.

Sure. You can install CCTV cameras around the spots where you place the traps and connect them to your phone. That way, whenever you wake up, you can just check the live footage to see if anything has been caught.

That is very simple, but depends on how you want to detect that the bush rabbit has entered your farm, with sounds?, with simple cameras?, or to make it inform you only when the "trap" catches the bush rabbits?. Each comes with its own different approach so only the way you know is the most reliable way that you start with and for example you can play a very loud sounds that can scare the rabbits anytime it detects their presences

Poison may be more reliable than traps. Traps won't catch all of them. I'd suggest fencing the farm and dropping bait inside the perimeter.

Hello Seun,
Feature request:

Could you please add a polling feature to NL if it doesn't already exist?

I think it could have a use case for avoiding heated arguments when opinions are divided.

We can easily spin up a poll, and each side sees what other thread participants think of their opinions/perspective.

A good challenge is if you could somehow make it float or roll over to say the next 3 pages of the thread, or stay visible on all thread pages for say the next hour or 2. Whatever achieves a good balance of visibility and guide against abuse of the tool.

Jesus loves you!

I just tested. Everything works smooth. Thank you.

How can we get more mods on the stock market thread?

I think the creator has abandoned us for a long time now.
Re: Nairaland Full-Stack AI Coding Challenge by awesomeJ(m): 11:53am On Jan 03
Also, the 24 hours is a good default.

Can we allow the lifespan be something that the creator can set as well ( 1 hour <= lifespan <= 24 hours && lifespan is type integer)

Maybe an option to end it prematurely too.
Especially useful since trying to edit the lifespan (or anything else) mutates the data.

If mod sets 6 hours (based on his judgement) but enough responses come in after 2 hours, (s)he should be able to end the poll without having to wait out 6 hours. Especially if (s)he would like to spin up a new poll.

Please refine these suggestions and only pick what's genuinely relevant.

Lol. If you still believe that writing a 10,000 word code manually from scratch (like the one in his attachment) in this day and age is the best way to build anything...It’s either you don’t fully grasp how software engineering has evolved…or you seriously underestimate what today’s AI tools can do.

The actual skill isn’t proving to everyone that you can suffer so they can applaud you for the number of hours or days you spent building a wonderful project. It’s about knowing how to combine your technical understanding with AI efficiency so you can build smarter, faster, and cleaner.

Spending days typing out what an AI can handle in minutes doesn’t make you a better programmer. It just shows how you’re refusing to upgrade your toolkit while the rest of the industry has moved on.
You ought to put points in proper perspective here. True we don't need to write all from scratch again but i believe he is trying to say that having details of the fundamentals in important. Because of the believe in AI perfection, many sudden software developers, deveOps, etc. will rise leading bug-filled software products and increasing cyber attacks, many of which are going to be successful. Too much abstraction is hiding fundamental knowledge needed to be creative and this act has crawled creativity in this part of the world.
I am not against AI i use it too but i control it a lot. We should be talking about building our own AI platforms building our systems, etc., not always consuming end products.
So sad we are lost in the simplicity that abstraction has brought us claiming it hides complexity but originally hides and impairs creativity.Meanwhile complexity itself is simplicity in its multiplied form.
China understood this, brokedown Western technology and created her own technology! China didn't invent anything.
We need mental revolution than the largely bloody revolution craved for.

Please when are you giving us "permanent" block and a block list? We can unblock when we want if they show good behaviour which they haven't.

Hey guys

With the AI boom and the direction of things in the tech space right now, is it still worth it to learn how to code manually?

I mean I've seen and read about the amazing things these AI chat bots are doing... Especially Claude's opus 4.5.

What will be the best approach for beginners in software engineering these days?

I need good answers please 🤲🏿🤲🏿

1 Lol. If no one decides to learn how to code and everyone only focuses on consuming the output of code, who do you think will be left to build, improve, and maintain these tools when the current engineers eventually retire?

2 Don’t you think avoiding learning how to code will only widen the gap between those who can build things and those who can’t? A small group will understand how these systems work and how to maintain them, while everyone else just consumes the tools. That kind of imbalance doesn’t end well.

3 If you want an easier life, solve harder problems. You can choose to become a checkout teller at ShopRite. Short training, simple problems, and you start earning in a couple of weeks. Or you can choose the harder path: spend years learning a difficult skill like science or engineering, become highly competent, and be rewarded not just financially but with long-term relevance and leverage.

The choice is yours.

I plan to put up a challenge to discover people with strong vibe coding skills. People who can build good software with AI very efficiently.

You will be tasked with building a software project with minimal specifications. You'll build the backend and frontend. Everything.

To provide a level playing field, I will urge all contestants to use a frontier model such as Gemini 3 Pro in AI Studio for planning.

AI Coding will not be mandatory but you will likely not win if you don't use AI because of lack of velocity. You'll be too slow.
Hi boss! I built a robust sports analytical and forecasting web app completely from scratch using lovable AI.

Here are some screenshots of the web app and it's performance.

This is where vibe coding comes into play. If I were you I'd just copy the entire code and paste it on Claude and give it a promt to fix the bugs. And viola you'd have a bug free front and back end.

I do the same for JSON codes I use for my schema and AI agent.
Boss can I DM you
