Governor Uba Sani, CON, will serve as host for the strategic meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), under the chairmanship of the Governor of Gombe State, Mal. Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya. The high-level gathering will also include traditional rulers, security experts, and key stakeholders from across the region.

The meeting will focus on the prevailing security challenges in Northern Nigeria, with leaders expected to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the situation and proffer sustainable solutions. Discussions will also extend to other critical issues affecting the development and overall progress of the region.

Date: Monday, December 1, 2025
Venue: Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna

Governor Uba Sani is currently hosting a high-level meeting of the Northern States Governors’ Forum and Northern Traditional Leaders, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.

The meeting, chaired by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum and Governor of Gombe State, is taking place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in Kaduna.

Meeting upon meeting yet no result.

Northern Nigeria should focus on education, poverty eradication and birth control. I don't know why they have educated leaders that are too scared of agreeing to a regional birth control policy. How can people keep birthing children they cannot cater for and not expect them to become terrorists?

It's a good move , I don't know why a state/region will have leaders and some bandits/terrorists will be running amok .

Nigeria as a country should not be experiencing such in 21st century .

It's not about meetings and coming up with resolutions that ends no where.

If that meeting is going to implement most or all of the followings then I don't think it is serous..

1. Ban Almajiri system

2. prosecute any parent who refuses to send the child to school

3. Prosecute any parent who refuses to cater for the needs of his child

4. Arrest any Islamic teacher who teaches hate and jihad.

5. Abolish Shariah and arrest anyone who advocates for it.

6. Start doing things especially in government based on merit

7. Stop using government funds to sponsor any religious projects

8. Start prosecuting sponsors of terrorism

9. Start giving orientation to their people about education, child birth and family planning.

10. Start fighting terrorism genuinely and open programs for fighters who wish to stop on skill acquisition and empowerment.

Northern Governors should gather experts from all Northern States to hold a conference and develop an economic plan that will focus in how to empower its young population using agricultural activities, livestock management, food processing, products' distribution and exporting. They should quit looting and sleeping on duty.

Souther governors met on insecurity and development. Northern governors are meeting on insecurity and development. SE governors and politicians are planning pilgrimage to Sokoto prison and lobbying for the release of a terrorist.

Tomorrow they will be enter night bus to invade other people’s regions. Instead of them to ask what their governors are doing about insecurity and investment.

As much as I agree with your comment, the truth is that this is coming almost a bit too late as a traditional solution. That was the perfect solution 20 years ago. Quite painful though.

Now?

1. Use technology (drones and cctv especially) to safeguard everywhere. At least 10 drones in each local government constantly flying overhead.

What it does? Nothing much.

It only signals a new level of security awareness that will force terrorists to change their current winning strategy, in turn break the ongoing momentum.

2. Use the Lagos strategy to get no-work people to start working.

Tinubu organized miscreants as the transport workers to force a culture of "work and be rewarded" and also, "guard road territories against miscreants". It was a masterstroke.

The riverine areas have contracts for "bad boys" to guard pipelines.

The north needs a program that captures out-of-school youths into "low skilled", "soft work" yet "highly rewarding" jobs.

Governors from Kogi, Plateau, Taraba, kwara, Benue an Nasarawa states supposed not to be attending Northern governors meetings. There are from Middle Belt region of the country.
