segsdynamic:. Good afternoon boss, let’s break your codes down properly. All five codes — P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, P2419 — point to one structured problem, and it’s not the “mere fault” your mechanic mentioned. This is a clear EVAP-system failure on the Corolla. ⸻ 🔍 TECHNICAL BREAKDOWN (DIAGNOSTIC INSIGHT) 1. WHAT THESE FIVE CODES MEAN TOGETHER When these exact codes appear at once, it means the EVAP system is no longer sealing, venting, or monitoring pressure correctly. Specifically: • P043E & P043F → Vent valve stuck / Switching valve incorrect flow • P2401 & P2402 → Leak Detection Pump (LDP) weak, open, or shorted • P2419 → EVAP switching valve circuit malfunction All pointing to the canister area at the rear of your Corolla. ⸻ 2. LIKELY ROOT CAUSES (BASED ON YOUR CODES) A. Faulty EVAP Canister Vent Valve Most common failure on Corolla 2005–2010. B. Failed Leak Detection Pump (LDP) Your P2401 + P2402 confirm it’s either shorted or not building pressure. C. Clogged/Saturated Charcoal Canister Dust or moisture blocks the vent and triggers switching-valve errors. D. Cracked/Loose EVAP Hoses Heat + age causes micro cracks around the fuel tank. E. Electrical issue in the EVAP harness Less common but possible. ⸻ 3. WHY THE ENGINE LIGHT WON’T GO OFF The Corolla ECU performs EVAP self-tests during driving. If the system cannot: • Seal, • Vent, or • Hold pressure, The ECU instantly re-triggers the light. That’s why clearing the code won’t solve anything until the real cause is fixed. ⸻ ⚙️ RYAN AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOP PROFESSIONAL TAKE We’ve handled this exact EVAP code combination several times on Corolla 2006–2010. The usual scenarios we see: • Mechanic ignores it → Codes return • Fuel smell begins • Fuel economy drops • Check-engine light becomes permanent • Driver gets used to the light, but the system remains faulty At our workshop, we run a proper EVAP diagnostic, including: 1. EVAP smoke test 2. Vent valve 12V activation test 3. Leak Detection Pump output/electrical test 4. Hose integrity/pressure test 5. Switching-valve circuit inspection These steps pinpoint the exact fault so only the failed part is replaced — no guesswork, no wasting money on canister replacement that doesn’t solve anything. If you’re around Lagos and want the issue handled cleanly and professionally, you can reach out to us directly — we’ll run the accurate tests and resolve the fault permanently. ⸻ 📌 PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY Your EVAP fault is real, not harmless. The correct procedure is: Smoke test → Electrical diagnosis → Replace the exact faulty valve/pump → Clear codes. After this, your check-engine light will go off and stay off. ⸻ Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. Transparency. Excellence. freemanbubble:Good day boss, let’s break this down properly because thermostat removal is one of the biggest mistakes we see on Lexus ES350 engines in Nigeria. ⸻ 🔍 TECHNICAL BREAKDOWN (DIAGNOSTIC INSIGHT) 1. SHOULD YOU REMOVE YOUR THERMOSTAT? — CLEAR ANSWER: NO. Removing the thermostat on an ES350 does not “help African weather.” It actually damages the engine slowly, and most mechanics don’t understand how the ES350 cooling system is designed. Here’s what happens when you remove it: A. Engine runs below optimal temperature The ES350 ECU is programmed to run at 80–90°C. Without the thermostat: • Engine stays too cold • Fuel mixture becomes richer • Fuel consumption increases • Carbon builds up in the intake valves • Catalytic converter gets stressed B. Cooling system loses pressure stability The thermostat helps regulate coolant flow. Removing it causes: • Poor coolant circulation • Air pockets • Temperature fluctuation • Higher risk of overheating in traffic C. Gearbox performance suffers The ES350 transmission relies on engine temperature. Cold engine = sluggish gear shifts & delay when hot. D. Overheating becomes more likely Ironically, many people remove thermostats thinking it prevents overheating. But on the ES350: • The coolant flows too fast • It doesn’t stay long enough to absorb heat • Fans run longer • Engine overheats under load or AC So thermostat removal does more harm than good. ⸻ ⚙️ RYAN AUTOMOTIVE WORKSHOP PROFESSIONAL TAKE We’ve repaired many ES350 engines where the owner removed the thermostat because “mechanic said it’s better in Africa.” The results we usually see: • Rough idle • High fuel consumption • AC load dragging the engine • Random overheating after months • Dirty engine oil • Catalytic converter failure • Transmission jerks when cold Every single time, once we reinstall a proper thermostat and bleed the system correctly, the engine stabilizes. The ES350 cooling system is built for hot climates. Toyota/Lexus ships the same thermostat to: Nigeria, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait — all hotter than Nigeria. So “African heat” is not an excuse. If your car is overheating, the thermostat is rarely the cause. The real issues are usually: • Weak water pump • Blocked radiator • Wrong coolant • Fan relay problem • Air trapped in the system • Head-gasket pressure leak Removing thermostat hides the problem and creates new ones. If you want the car checked properly in Lagos, you can reach out to Ryan Automotive Limited — we run clean diagnostic tests and fix overheating the right way. ⸻ 📌 PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY No, don’t remove your thermostat. It will increase fuel consumption, affect engine health, stress your transmission, and can even cause overheating. Fix the real cause instead of bypassing a critical cooling component. ⸻ Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. Transparency. Excellence. Good evening everyone, I drive a 2010 Toyota Corolla and I’ve been experiencing some issues: While driving, the car will suddenly rev on its own. This also happens occasionally when the car is idle. While parked the rpm goes close to 2, thou this rarely occurs. After driving for about 30 minutes or more, when I stop and shift the gear to Park, the RPM drops below 1, the engine vibrates, and then gradually returns to normal. While driving especially when climbing a hill the car makes a noise as if it’s struggling to climb. After a few seconds, it becomes stable again. Things I have done so far: A. Changed the fuel pump B. Bought new plugs C. Serviced the nozzles D. Changed the injector mouth When I first changed the fuel pump and plugs, the hill-climbing issue stopped, but after 3–4 days it returned. All the other problems are still present |

My Corolla 03 stalls once engage on drive or reverse in trying to find solutions now the car won't start was told the brain box has been damaged in the process.. another brain box was used to check it yet car still won't start. When scanned reads communication error |
| Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by RyanAutomotive: 6:28pm On Dec 09, 2025 |
Somdivaa:Good evening sir, Thank you for clearly explaining your situation on the Toyota Corolla 2003. From a professional diagnostic standpoint, this is not random engine failure — this is a communication and power supply fault between the ECU (brain box) and the vehicle’s main control system. ⸻ 🔧 Technical Breakdown 1. Original Stalling When Engaging Drive/Reverse The stalling when shifting into D or R usually happens due to: • Failed idle air control (IAC) system • Faulty throttle body operation • Torque converter clutch (TCC) sticking • ECU idle compensation failure These are control-related faults, not mechanical engine damage. ⸻ 2. Why It No Longer Starts Now Since the car was worked on and now refuses to start: • The ECU is likely not communicating with the system • Power or ground to the ECU is missing • Immobilizer mismatch • Blown ECU fuse or relay This is why the scanner now shows “communication error.” ⸻ 3. Important Truth Changing the brain box blindly will not fix this kind of fault. The problem is often: • Power supply wiring • ECU grounds • Burnt fuse lines • Corrupted communication lines (CAN / K-line) Until those are tested, replacing ECU will keep failing. ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop Professional Take At Ryan Automotive Limited, we’ve handled this exact case multiple times on Corolla, Camry and Yaris models. In most cases, the ECU was not damaged — the real issue was blown ECU power lines, faulty main relay, or immobilizer conflict, and we restored communication without wasting money on brain boxes. ⸻ ✅ Professional Summary This is an electrical/communication fault, not a dead engine. The car needs proper ECU communication testing, not guessing. ⸻ If you want this fixed professionally in Lagos, contact: Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. Transparency. Excellence. martins946:Good evening sir, Thank you for the clear explanation of your 2003 Honda Civic transmission concern and the fault code P0753 (Shift Solenoid ‘A’ Circuit Electrical). From a professional diagnostic perspective, this fault sits at the borderline between electrical control failure and internal gearbox (automatic transmission) hydraulic fault — and it must be confirmed properly before any major decision. ⸻ 🔧 Technical Breakdown — Professional Insight 1. What P0753 Really Means This code does not just mean “bad solenoid”. It means the transmission control module cannot correctly complete the electrical command cycle to the hydraulic system. This failure can originate from: • A damaged shift solenoid • Burnt or shorted solenoid wiring • A failing transmission control driver inside the ECU • Or internal hydraulic pressure leakage inside the gearbox ⸻ 2. When It’s NOT Just Electrical — Gearbox Side Possibility If computerized diagnostics and live pressure testing show: • Correct electrical commands leaving the ECU ✅ • Good solenoid resistance ✅ • Good wiring continuity ✅ …but the gearbox still fails to respond, then the fault becomes internal gearbox-side, such as: • Worn clutch packs • Valve body hydraulic leakage • Stuck shift valves • Internal pressure loss inside the gearbox At this stage, it becomes a gearbox (transmission) mechanical-hydraulic fault, not just a sensor problem. ⸻ 3. Professional Diagnostic A correct workshop will: • Perform advanced scan tool testing • Run live solenoid actuation tests • Measure line pressure inside the gearbox • Compare commanded vs actual gear change response Only after these steps can a technician confirm whether the fault is: ✅ Electrical-side or ✅ Gearbox internal failure ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop Professional Take At Ryan Automotive Limited, we handle this level of diagnosis routinely. We have repaired cases where P0753 turned out to be: • Simple solenoid faults ✅ • ECU control driver failures ✅ • AND cases where the gearbox internal valve body had failed ✅ Because of this, we do not guess — we confirm with live diagnostics before recommending gearbox repair or replacement. ⸻ ✅ Professional Summary This fault cannot be judged by code alone. P0753 can be either an electrical control failure or a mechanical gearbox hydraulic failure. Only a structured computerized diagnostic process can determine the true root cause. ⸻ If you require professional-level diagnostics, fault isolation, or transmission repair consultation, you can reach out to: Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. AmazingG007:Good morning sir, Thank you for reaching out regarding your 2013 Toyota Camry. Based on your description, having the Tire Pressure, ABS, Traction/Slip, and Parking Brake lights all illuminated at the same time points to a linked system fault, not random or isolated issues. ⸻ 🔧 Professional Diagnostic Insight 1️⃣ Primary Cause — ABS / Wheel Speed System On Camry models, the ABS, Traction Control, Parking Brake, and TPMS lights are interconnected. If the ABS system cannot read wheel speed properly, it automatically disables ABS and traction control, triggering all related dashboard warnings. Common causes: • Faulty wheel speed sensor(s) • Damaged wiring or connectors to ABS sensors • Worn/damaged wheel hub bearing • Low brake fluid or faulty brake fluid level sensor • ABS module internal fault ⸻ 2️⃣ Why the TPMS Light Also Came On Even with correct tire pressures, the TPMS light may illuminate because: • There is a general electrical/system fault • The ABS module loses communication with the ECU • The car activates fail-safe mode This is expected in such ABS-related faults. ⸻ 3️⃣ Correct Repair Approach This should not be treated as guesswork. The proper steps are: 1. Full OBD2 + ABS Scan – Identifies the exact wheel or component causing the fault. Codes often seen: C0210, C0205, C1234, C1201. 2. Inspect Wheel Speed Sensors & Wiring – Look for broken wires, dirty sensor tips, loose connectors, or damaged rotor rings. 3. Repair / Replace Faulty Component – Replace sensor or hub bearing if needed, top up brake fluid, repair wiring, or replace ABS module only if confirmed faulty. Clearing codes before repair or random replacement often results in the lights returning. ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop Professional Take We have resolved this exact scenario multiple times on Camry and Corolla models between 2012–2015. • 95% of the time, the problem is a faulty wheel speed sensor or damaged hub bearing. • Proper scanning and targeted repair resolves all linked warning lights reliably. We strongly advise against guessing parts — Toyota’s systems are linked, and guessing can lead to repeated costs. ⸻ 🧩 Summary & Next Steps Your Camry is in ABS/Traction fail-safe mode due to a wheel-speed/ABS system fault. ✅ Correct action: Scan first → Identify faulty part → Repair → Clear codes For precise diagnosis and repair, we invite you to bring your Camry to Ryan Automotive Limited. Our team will: • Run a full ABS + ECU diagnostic scan • Provide a detailed fault report • Recommend exact repairs and cost • Fix the problem professionally, ensuring all dashboard lights go off ⸻ Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. | Re: Tell Us Your Car Faults. Let's Assess And Fix Them by RyanAutomotive: 2:51pm On Dec 11, 2025 |
AmazingG007:Since you mentioned the ABS, Traction and Parking Brake lights went off immediately you replaced the spare tire with the correct-sized tire, that confirms the issue was caused by wheel-speed mismatch from the spare. That part is already resolved. The only reason the TPMS (tire pressure) light is still on is either low pressure on one of the four tires or the TPMS sensor on that wheel hasn’t fully reset yet. Once the pressures are properly set and the sensor reads correctly, the light will clear. If the light stays on after correcting tire pressures, you can bring the car down to Ryan Automotive Limited for a quick TPMS/ABS scan so we can reset it properly and confirm the sensor status. obisite:Good afternoon sir, Thank you for the clear description — a car that starts but immediately goes off, and temporarily responds after refueling, is a classic symptom that requires a scan-first, inspect-second approach. Below is a full Ryan Automotive Limited diagnostic reply you can post professionally on Nairaland. ⸻ 🔧 Professional Diagnostic Insight 1️⃣ Primary Causes — what most commonly leads to starting but immediately stalling • Fuel delivery issues (most common): Clogged fuel filter, weak fuel pump, or contaminated fuel can cause the engine to start but fail to sustain idle. Even after refueling, if the pump or filter is faulty, the problem returns. • Ignition or crank/cam sensor faults: A failing crankshaft or camshaft position sensor can intermittently cut ignition/fuel supply, causing the engine to start briefly and then die. • Air intake or idle control problems: Dirty throttle body, malfunctioning idle air control (IAC) valve, or vacuum leaks can prevent proper air-fuel mixture at idle, making the car stall immediately. • Electrical/fuel relay issues (less common): A weak fuel relay, ECU glitch, or poor grounding can intermittently cut power to the fuel system or ignition, causing short-lived starts. ⸻ 2️⃣ Symptoms that point to each cause (what to observe) • Fuel system: Engine dies seconds after start; sometimes improved by direct fuel top-up; may hear fuel pump struggle or clicking in the tank. • Sensors: Engine starts normally for a brief moment but dies; check engine light may appear intermittently. • Air intake/IAC: Rough or uneven idle, engine struggles to take in air; stalling occurs even with full fuel. • Electrical/relay: Car may start and die unpredictably; other electrical quirks like flickering dash lights may accompany. ⸻ 3️⃣ Correct (non-guess) Repair & Diagnostic Steps — scan-first, inspect-second 1. Full OBD2 scan — check engine codes for fuel, ignition, and sensor faults. 2. Fuel system inspection: • Check fuel pump pressure and delivery. • Inspect fuel filter and fuel quality. • Inspect fuel injectors for clogging. 3. Air intake check: Clean throttle body and inspect idle air control valve; check for vacuum leaks. 4. Sensor check: Test crankshaft/camshaft sensors for correct signal output. 5. Electrical system check: Inspect fuel relays, fuses, and ground connections. 6. Confirm fault and replace only the failed component(s) — fuel pump, filter, sensor, or IAC — using Toyota-recommended parts and torque settings. ⸻ ⚙️ Ryan Automotive Workshop Professional Take In our experience with Toyota Corolla 2000–2008 models: • ~50% of these short-start stalling cases are fuel pump or filter-related. • ~30% are sensor faults, primarily crankshaft/camshaft sensors. • The remaining 20% involve air intake or relay/electrical issues. We always recommend a scan-first approach, followed by targeted inspections. Random parts replacement often leads to wasted cost and repeated visits. ⸻ 🧩 Professional Summary & Next Steps Short-term: ✅ Do not continue attempting repeated starts without inspection — this can stress the starter and fuel system. ✅ Ensure fuel is clean and tank is free from debris. Next step: ➡️ Bring your Corolla (parked for several hours so it is cold) to Ryan Automotive Limited for a full diagnostic. We will: • Run OBD2 scan and live data checks • Inspect fuel system, sensors, and air intake • Advise precise, costed repair plan When posting on Nairaland, please include: full year, engine size, mileage, and recent service history. This ensures a more accurate first-response. ⸻ Ryan Automotive Limited Precision. Transparency. Excellence.
