There is nothing like crown prince in most parts of Yorubaland. Kingship is rotated among different ruling families. Here is not England: we have our own way of doing things.
That way still goes with the Royal family bloodlines, right? Abi do you want to dispute that.

The ruling families you mentioned are of the royal bloodlines.

It would have make sense if you had quote me by telling us that Kwam 1 is part of the bloodline of the ruling families. Thank you

How do you mean?
Wasiu - KWAM1 -too has paid his Price in the Music Industry and as an Ambassador of Music and Youths in Global Arena. and that is a FACT.
His closeness to President Tinubu can be an advantage and disadvantage as well, depending on the Angle you are viewing it from 🪞!
I wish him well,as I don't think his drama at the Airport Few months ago is sufficient ground for disqualification,
FOR his Popularity Across the Globe -Should Be A Big Boost to Awujale Throne,
and let us Not forget those who Are Envious of him!
He should go and contest to become the King in the music industry.

Ignorance

Most kingships are rotated amongst ruling houses … even in the north and east.

The only popular stool I know of that actually doesn’t do that is the Benin royal stool
Let me just give you the same reply I gave a similar comment that quoted me.

kingship in Nigeria now has been bastardized, no more consultation of gods, ordinary Governor of the state can choose the next King.

Greedy and arrogant man.
That was the reason the quickly switch himself from Alfa caucuses to traditional herberlist group to enable him apply for awujale.

I pity ijebu land if they mistakingly give him.

The fact he signifies interest means it’s already sealed for him. Honesty Oba’s are customary ways of our fore fathers but in 2025, it should be considered obsolete. They bring absolutely no resources into communities but instead drain the resources meant for their communities. An Oba is entitled to monthly wages, official cars, police protection and then they get money to run their office. All this from a local government funding and then there’s way too many of them. In south west for example, a state might have 50-70 different Oba’s per each town.

Subject like this is what referendum is meant for. A vote need to be conducted if they need to be scrap or kept.
They use obas to collect people's land now.
Oba gbesele. I like how OBJ disregard them and place the kings under local government.

Why don't you just lay out the rule or method since you've read wide and know it. It would have been a better response to counter my comment rather than this lamenting comment you gave. What you wrote there raise no point.

Method or no method. Rule or no rule. The known fact about how power is ascended in a Royal or hierarchy is by bloodlines. The countries I mentioned have their own methods too and it's still fall under the bloodline, the next in line.
My reply may not be robust enough, but I'll try my best to explain. In Yoruba land, there can be more than a single founder to a settlement. For instance, in my town, my family is one of the royal houses. Each royal house (for instance as seen in KWAM 1 case, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House), has its time when they will produce the next king.

Each founding fathers' Houses of the community/village/town will produce kings at the appropriate time. No Royal House can easily produce two kings in successions. A demise of a king will usher in a new one from another Royal House/lineage.

This style doesn't apply to Ibadan oooooooooo

What about the crown prince of the family. The colonisers brought democracy for us, it doesn't mean we should make Royal a democracy too. We saw what happened after Queen of England died, his son the next in line took position.

Anybody cannot just come and say he or she wants to be the king of England, Spain, Dutch, Japan.

But corruption has run so deep in Nigerians DNA that they would turn a Royal heritage post to a democracy anyone could just get.
It's not only one family that rule in Yoruba land. They rotate the kingship between the ruling houses, each of which have to present only one candidate, if I'm not wrong.

Wasiu is not from the next ruling house to produce the next king. He's from my wife's family, which is the Fidipote family, and it's not their turn.
Unless I'm missing something.

If he qualifies to be from the correct ruling house, then let him compete with others. SO be it. But I doubt it.

Nothing like a crown prince here. They have a totally different formula.
They have about 4 ruling houses, and it's rotated between those families. It's been like that for 100s of years.
Re: KWAM 1: Wasiu Ayinde Wants To Be The Next Awujale Of Ijebuland by ObasaHF: 7:11pm On Dec 05, 2025
The thing is Ijebu land has four ruling houses, the fact that he comes from ruling houses next in ascension to the throne automatically qualifies him.

Wish him best of luck

Every legitimate son of a ruling house is eminently qualified to the stool of the royalty, but the characters and traits expected of whoever occupy the stool must have been exemplified by those aspiring to be so appointed to the royal stool long before the opportunity present itself.

I like how he generally responds to issues, he's the typical Yoruba man: urbane, savvy and fair-minded whether with or without formal education

Nope, he's not. I know this because my in-law told me several times that they grew up together in the Fidipote compound in Ijebu Ode. She knows him very very well growing up. I'm sure others will come out with the real facts.
Unless he has family ties to both ruling houses, such as a mother from one and a father from another.
I'll ask around.

Your comment is sensible than few others that quoted me earlier. I just used the crown prince to identify the next in line.

Is Kwam 1 a member of the four ruling families?
