When Did The Kingdom Of God Come? by Preciousgirl(op): 7:42am On Dec 06, 2025
Jesus said in Mark 9:1

And He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.”

Who were those who did not taste death till they saw the kingdom of God in power? When did they see it?

I believe Jesus was referring to literal death, similar to the case of Simeon in the Bible who was promised he wouldn't die until he saw the Messiah.

Take John the Beloved for instance; history has it that he was banished to the Isle of Patmos because they couldn't kill him, but he eventually died of old age after writing Revelation. All the Apostles died, but only after they had fulfilled their missions.

Even Stephen fits this description. Before he was stoned to death, the heavens opened and he saw the Kingdom of God present with power. So, the prophecy was fulfilled: they saw the Kingdom, and then they "tasted death."

James, John and Peter.

Preciousgirl:
When did they see it?
They saw the future marvelous works the Lord will do by the time God's Kingdom comes when Moses and Elijah (both dead) were talking with Jesus as he was transfigured in their presence.
So from that moment if all others were still doubting whether Jesus is the Christ or whether there is going to be a resurrection of the righteous servants of God Peter, James and John are no longer in doubt from that very moment.
So instantly they asked Jesus:

“Why, then, do the scribes say that E·liʹjah must come first?” Matthew 17:10

The scriptures say Elijah will come first before the Messiah but now they are fully convinced that Jesus the Messiah is right there with them so they asked him why he came before Elijah.

Jesus responded:

“E·liʹjah is indeed coming and will restore all things. However, I say to you that E·liʹjah has already come, and they did not recognize him but did whatever they wanted with him. In this way also, the Son of man is going to suffer at their hands." Matthew 17:11-12

Now they understand that John the baptist was the long awaited Elijah who is to come before the Christ! Matthew 17:13

So the three saw God's Kingdom come in that vision not literally!

Jesus saying "see the kingdom of God" means EXPERIENCE the Kingdom of God (not by sight).
Which for the Believer, happens when you become Born-Again in Christ Jesus.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Your interpretation doesn’t connect. Why?

Simple: The disciples were already "born again" (or equivalent to it) before he made that statement, not after.

1. They had already abandoned their former lives, their fishing boats, and even their families to follow God/Christ.

2. They had already forsaken the "burdens of the past" (their previous sins/way of life), which is essentially the entire meaning of being born again.

If the statement was just about being born again, it makes no sense for him to direct it to people who had already made that ultimate sacrifice and commitment. The context suggests he was talking about something else entirely.

No such thing as: "born again" (or equivalent to it)

For the Believer, Born-Again is by Faith in His Finished Work on the Cross, &not by your works.

That Nicodemus chat (John 3) is key! When Jesus said "water and the Spirit," Nicodemus couldn't physically be reborn from the Spirit—because Jesus was the Holy Spirit in action (Father, Son, and Spirit are together).

The Spirit was present in the O.T. fathers, but Christ's coming was the activation the world needed. He had the Spirit, and after He went back to the Father, He sent it back to us as a Guide. The Holy Spirit always existed, but Christ's death was needed to activate it for everyone (Jews/Gentiles).

That's why being baptized in Spirit and truth (often with the laying on of hands) grants you the Spirit, which the Apostles already received in measure before Pentecost.

Here is the verse again:

"Truly I say to you that there are some of those standing here who will not taste death at all until first they see the Son of man coming in his Kingdom.” Matthew 16:28

See the son of man coming in his Kingdom
Is the point of emphasis!

It is the same ol not-born again sinners claiming they believers, who say this.

Whereas every fair and reasonable person knows that God is looking for people who have run away from fornication, adultery, stealing, lying and from all the sin full way of living that they are accustomed to. Those are the kind of people God is looking for hence the need for anyone who wants to follow God must be born again

And you can’t engage in any meaningful debate without wearing your ‘righteousness’ as a garment.

Scribes and Pharisees☺️

Don’t bother replying, so you don’t derail the thread. Keep living your “self righteous” life. I just hate your hypocrisy because I can see through your veil and your righteousness is filth. I’ll advise you repent. Remember the Pharisee and tax collectors that prayed to God. Pride goes before a fall. I just don’t want you claiming ignorance on the last day.

You definitely know what someone that doesn’t have a creation date wants.

Lemme give you knowledge and wisdom. The moment you ever feel “Socratic” or more knowledgeable than others, it shows you’re unintelligible. If you can read, I’ll ask you to read wisdom of Sirach. The apocryphal Bible. He said he only scooped out of the cistern and not the whole fountain of knowledge. The more you keep thinking you’re holier than others, I’m hoping to see you on the last days. I’d have ignored you but I’m compelled to give you this Christlike advice…….

Shalom✌️

It is written, Timothy 5:20 - Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

And every reasonable person can see that this Law applies to me, if and when you see me say or do something bad.

But till then, if ye continue in sins, ye have already heard that it is Written that

But we are sure that the judgment of God is against them which commit such things.

So if you like flee your normal way of living or you can keep continuing in it, that is your plate of beans for you have already seen what God has Said and Declared and your pretending it does not exist won't change its existence

When Christ resurrected that was the beginning of Christianity, therefore Christianity is the kingdom

Who were those who did not taste death till they saw the kingdom of God in power? When did they see it?
They saw it!
The kingdom of God came the moment Christ resurrected.

When Christ resurrected, that was the beginning of Christianity which is God's kingdom

Some of the disciples who stood with him at the time before he was crucified were those who didn't taste death before they saw him resurrected.

Your point blank toxic and judgmental. You don’t know anything about a person and you conclude the person is an unbeliever, you call people adulterers and fornicators ‘on an online forum 😳’ if you’re this judgmental online, I wonder how your offline life will look like. You can’t debate with evidences or facts but you try to use insults. I’m sure you can’t change. It’s in your blood and stop telling people you’re a lawyer, you’re just a clerk in the court. Go learn from Samantha how a lawyer debates. I’ll be very happy if you get off people back because your toxicity can be infectious.

I hope you find peace.

It is your conscience that is disturbing you for there was nothing to debate even when you came crying because I pointed out that no fornicator, adulterer, liar, thief who continue in them are born agains.

And this forum already shows and proves how people love fornication, adultery, lying, stealing not to talk of the fact that we see them everyday in our areas, office, churches, etc.,

So, there is no debate only you wailing because your conscience is judging you not to talk about the fact that you said heaven is a witness and then I reminded you that it is not just a witness but it bears record like the I.P.O.

So it's clear you do not have reasonable thing to say but to wail for your sins and use style to insalt me because I told you that a fornicator, adulterer, liar, thief who continue in them are born agains. Insalting me will not change the fact.

Knowledge is a step-by-step journey. Just like a younger student isn't a "dullard," a fellow Christian with a different understanding is not an enemy.

The Apostles debated. They were divided. But they didn't resort to name-calling or spiritual arrogance.

Why is it that today, disagreement instantly makes someone an "advocate of Satan?" This is not the Christian way.

If we keep condemning everyone who differs, we lose our moral distinction. Correction must be founded in love.

There is no contradictions among Jesus' first century disciples, though they had arguments among them before Jesus' death but after his prayers for them to have the same line of thought {John 17:22} and anointing of God's Holy Spirit at Pentecost {Act 2:14} all Christians in the first century were unitedly obedient to the teachings of the Apostles! The famous argument between Peter and Paul (recorded in Galatians 2) happened in Antioch and centered on whether Gentile (non-Jewish) Christians needed to follow Jewish Law (like dietary rules) to be fully accepted. After they’ve all accepted the holy ghost on the day of Pentecost.

1. The Conflict: Peter was initially eating freely with Gentile believers.

2. Peter's Change: When strict Jewish Christians arrived from Jerusalem, Peter got scared of their criticism and stopped eating with the Gentiles.

3. Paul's Reaction: Paul saw this as hypocrisy. He publicly confronted Peter, arguing that Peter's action suggested that faith in Christ alone wasn't enough, which jeopardized the core message of salvation by grace through faith for everyone.

4. The confrontation was crucial for establishing that Gentile Christians did not need to become Jews first. They were still growing in knowledge after the Holy Ghost arrival. Like when Peter was shown to eat unclean animals but was later given another revelation. The more they walked with God the more he updated their OS. They didn’t receive all the revelations at once.

You are just looking for unnecessary arguments for even my comment shows that I did not say "hey Ganagibros, you are a fornicator, adulterer etc".

I only responded to his post on "For the Believer, Born-Again is by Faith in His Finished Work on the Cross," stating that born again means one who has run away from fornication, adultery, stealing, lying and all the sin full way of living that they are accustomed to"

The word "they" is even there which means I did not Ganagibros aka the commenter.

So, this is you fighting your own conscience.

And no, I do not try to win souls, most especially as people do not like to change

Even Jesus Christ did not try winning any soul. All He did was simply state the Law and pointed out the judgement, which is all I am repeating.
