As a person who has never cast a vote in any election anywhere on earth since the day I was born, and who cannot therefore lay claim to any political affiliation, a personal appraisal of any government running a given nation can best be informed by the two key indexes of civilized life and peaceful existence, namely security, and the economy.

In fairness to the currently elected federal government administering the Nigerian nation's affairs today as the year 2025 gives way to 2026, long festering security challenges, in concert with a post-COVID global economic recession, added up to enormous challenges that don't lend themselves to speedy resolution.

Now that the might of the US military is confirmed to be operating collaboratively to battle Nigeria's terror invasion alongside France, the UK and other well-meaning nations, even the most jaded observer can rest assured that by officially teaming up with the militaries of the democratic West, the government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu is FINALLY acting with the urgency necessitated by the rapidly spreading bloodstain of terror in Nigeria.

"Better late than never", as old saying goes. As a Muslim president of a secular democracy already under silent diplomatic pressure from Red China and Russian tyrant-warlord Putin to lean the wrong way, Bola Tinubu wisely took his time to consult, confer, and consider before doing the RIGHT thing, by allowing Uncle Sam to send a few of the toys in his inventory of ground-attack drones, with no strings attached besides perhaps favorable pricing for Nigeria's crude oil exports, after the smoke clears, when the last Islamist terrorist has either fled back to Mali, or has been recycled into organic agricultural fertilizer by millimeter-precise drone strikes.

All things considered, this one-time neutral political fence-sitter is now a die-hard Bola Tinubu supporter who is thankful that Tinubu recognized the enormity of the challenge posed to Nigeria by well-funded Islamist slave-raiding hordes, before acting swiftly and in good faith to accept offers of military assistance from the USA, France and the UK, rather than from any of the usual suspects featured in our planet's despot rogues gallery, who ALL harbor dark ulterior motives with genocidal implications, for Africa.

1. You speak as though Bola acted decisively, wisely and altruistically when even you know that whatever he is doing in the last few weeks is as a direct result of the fear and pressure Trump subjected him to. How does that make him a wise leader and convert you to a die hard fan? So you are converted when your leader is literarily forced, bullied, insulted and threated into action by a foreign power - a power who he knows has the capacity to unseat him? That is what impresses you? That is what converts you into a die hard fan?

+2. Nigeria is not a secular state, it only claims to be. No secular state has religious based criminal laws such as Sharia.

+3. In the red part of your post you surprisingly try to attribute the economic failure of this government to Covid and even global recession. Uncle Jaks, not even you can wish away the hasty and ill considered way in which subsidies were removed in a single day and the naira floated shortly thereafter, a combination with such bad timing especially in terms of proximity to one another that would crash any economy in a blink. How could you for heavens sake, even if you agree with those policies or the manner of their implementation, ignore them, only to reach for Covid and global recession as excuses?

Deep Sight you speak the truth about the nosedive of Nigeria's economy that is traceable to the abrupt removal of subsidies by the incoming administration. The subsequent precipitous devaluation of the naira alone has wrought devastation to the hard-currency worth of any asset held in Nigeria. On a personal finance level as one with modest investments in Nigeria, I suffered as a direct result oft he aforementioned economic policies that are yet to yield tangible benefits.

Despite my gripes about economic matters in Nigeria, I remain keenly aware that it is only when there is peace, with safe roads, cities and towns, that the citizens of any nation can enjoy the luxury of indulging in economic analysis. Right up until the point at which the Bola Tinubu government formally announced its strategically brilliant military alliance with the USA, Britain and France, I had been consumed with a gnawing sense unease with each new report indicating that terrorist slave-raids were occurring much deeper into the previously stable south of the nation, than at any time since the Islamist invasion kicked off in 2009.

Former Edo State Governor Oshiomole is among several Nigeria's of note who recently again raised the alarm about illegal Chinese gold, tantalite, and lithium miners operating in northern Nigerian Nasarawa and Gombe States, where low-flying helicopters ferry in arms for freelance Islamist gunmen to use against villagers living in the vicinity of areas where precious metals abound. Bola Tinubu's REFUSAL to choose China as a military partner in Nigeria's escalating war against terrorist slave-raiders can only therefore be described as a political masterstroke, given the conflict of interest that China has all over Africa, a land of bounteous natural resources.

Russian troops from the Wagner Group have earned a reputation for frequent massacres in all African countries where they were invited to intervene, from the Central African Republic to Mali. By steering well clear of Mad Vlad Putin's henchmen in Africa even in this Nigeria's desperate hour of need, Bola Tinubu again displayed a keen understanding of contemporary geopolitics. Putin, who has thus far in 2025 presided over the death of a million of his own Russian soldiers in his futile land-grab war in Ukraine, is NOT the sort of person whose offer of military assistance is worthy of consideration even for a second by any well-informed and wise African leader.

In short, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is my nomination for Africa's Man of the Year 2026. No shaking. We dey follow am for back.

Well you are entitled to your opinion, which I dont share. One thing is clear: BAT made no such "masterstroke" stance against China in anyway shape or form: if he had, the Chinese would not still be ripping up our mines (several of which I have been too over legal issues) till date. Neither would several billion dollar Chinese financing deals still be in the pipeline and on the way which far exceed any amount of Western financial aid. So please, let us tone down on attributing genius to Napoleon. I quote from George Orwell's "Animal Farm" - as follows -

"The pigs were in ecstasies over Napoleon's cunning. By seeming to be friendly with Pilkington he had forced Frederick to raise his price by twelve pounds. But the superior quality of Napoleon's mind, said Squealer, was shown in the fact that he trusted nobody, not even Frederick. Frederick had wanted to pay for the timber with something called a cheque, which, it seemed, was a piece of paper with a promise to pay written upon it. But Napoleon was too clever for him. He had demanded payment in real five-pound notes, which were to be handed over before the timber was removed. Already Frederick had paid up; and the sum he had paid was just enough to buy the machinery for the windmill."

Let me add that the said bank notes turned out to be fake.

It seems to me, that just like the pigs (the governing class in the book) you are currently "in ecstasies over Napoleon's cunning." Try to temper the ecstasy because it has already led you into praising Napoleon for things he most certainly has not done.

And still, for the life of me, I cannot comprehend why you say that Bola announced his "strategically brilliant military alliance with the USA, Britain and France" - repeatedly attempting to ignore the fact that you know that alliance was forced on him, stampeded indeed, with threats and insults of the highest order. Jaks, you are not addressing children. How can it be that these forced actions followed with threats of invasion are what you reserve to be for the credit and genius of Bola? Its just amazing that you can say that.

However, you are entitled to your opinion and do know that my great love of you will persist always.

Your comments about the debt burden Nigeria has incurred with China are cause for worry, concerning how that indebtedness will be discharged if Nigeria falls behind in its repayment schedule, given the loan shark extortionate clauses typically buried deep in the contract documents signed by Nigeria and China.

When it comes to the question of whether Tinubu's acceptance of American and European military assistance was a decision made of his own free will, as opposed to having been made under duress, I would say that the end justifies the means, in that regardless of how such an urgently needed Nigerian and American military cooperation pact came about, it is an alliance that is both positive and timely, which came to fruition during the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
