Wasteful country. Why can't someone in Nigeria also create a religion, let it go viral so that other countries will be touring our country like this? If we can't invent technology that will be well sought after by other countries, then at least we can invent a good religion, far better than Xtianity and Islam which can bring future people to our land for pilgrimage. But no, African follow follow is like City and Arsenal in the EPL title race

Pilgrims pay the Federal Government, through the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) for their pilgrimage.

The government's role (through the National Hajj Commission and the National Christian Pilgrimage Commission) is to receive money from pilgrims and help them organise the pilgrimage. The government helps the pilgrims to negotiate with airlines and get a good deal (discounts, etc), but the airfare is paid by the pilgrims. The government provides consular services to ensure that the registered pilgrims can enter the Holy Lands and that they are safe there, etc. but the cost of the pilgrimage is borne by the pilgrims.

The National Hajj Commission has set a deadline of December 5th for pilgrims to pay for the pilgrimage, but the Kebbi State Government says that some of its citizens will not be able to pay by that date and so it is giving them a loan, that is, it will pay on their behalf and then they can repay the state government later.

This has sparked a debate among northerners on social media.

Religion have not helped humanity, it's only keep hope alive and a form of control.
I have no problem with identifying with religion but it's only becomes a problem when one start doing it without sense, go to the West, many things we pray for they have it in abundance and you don't need to pray before getting it.
Religion has created more problem for us than anything, if you want to be truthful to yourself you can see the problem around you

1. Religion has not helped humanity, abi? Why then single out Islam for your diatribes?
2. Many of the things we pray for here are in abundance in the West? May be yes and may be know. It depends on what you are praying for. Many have shelter over their heads here yet. Still pray for Shelter. We rat here top yet pray for food. What am I saying? Our aim and aspirations are different, and you can't use yours to gauge and measure my life. I may be comfortable and satisfied with my state in a 2 bed room apartment while you pray for a Duolex or indeed stay in a duplex. To now say that your life is better than mine is only subjective as you alone can internalise the "gains and benefits" of staying in a duplex.
3. Religion has not created any problem. Religion came to regulate man's life. To live it a notch better than that of the Animals where there are seemingly no rules. The strong and the powerful usually hold sway. Religion only brought rules so that man can be above the brutes. However Men, taking on the roles of God's Assitant, have muddied the whole thing that hardly can you tell what God commands and what men commands.
