First of all, you would have to provide us a copy of said email.
Would suggest you blur any sensitive information before sharing with us.

would suggest you don't enable it. Not all features, meant to make things easy, are good for you.

Should your email or phone get compromised, your account could be accessed and funds moved and you can't hold your bank because it's no fault of theirs.

The Indemnity form is a necessary policy requirement for all fund transfer instructions submitted through non-physical channels (i.e., email).

To your question, the person will also need to have access to your email, your signature and know who to send it to, which to me doesn't seem like a stranger.

For additional security, you can instruct your Relationship Manager to confirm all fund transfer requests above a specified threshold through a direct phone call to you.

Download the Stanbic Bank app 3.0, which is the new app, and you will see the BluNest module, which replaced the mutual funds module. Use the same login details, and you will be fine.

If you have not been paid interest into your registered bank account, it means you opted for interest reinvestment. Otherwise, check your bank statement; your interest would have been paid, or call the customer care to complain if you can't see your interest added to your capital at the end of each month in the past two quarters.
Thank you.
I used to be paid interest for about 3 years and then it suddenly stopped...

Talk to customer care to know the reason why the payment of your interest has stopped.

It's not only Stanbic, there are also others in that range of 16%+. You can add one more fund manager, like Norrenberger or First Ally, to augment.

Yes, very possible. Though for me, I prefer using different fund managers instead of having more than one MMF account with the same fund manager.
Sorry to bring back this old post but I was searching for answers and found this page on the thread.
I already have Stanbic MMF how do I open a new one MMF. The bluenest app keeps dropping on the new Stanbic App so I typically check my mutual funds on the older version and there I can see the option to open a new MMF . I only see options for the other funds

On the new app, login to your MMF account and click wallet.
Select buy funds then pick buy new funds it will take you to the list of all available funds including MMF; you can now select any product of your choice. Any fund picked this way, will create a new account even if you have the fund already.

By the way given the current rate of Stanbic, I advice you open a new MMF with Norrenberger to enjoy better rate at the moment instead of having more MMF with stanbic.

Stanbic MMF is 16.32% while Norrenberger is 19.07% as of today, 09 12 2025.

Based on what you just posted, I recommend that you read my previous posts on the issue you raised, particularly my response to @toby4ever on the previous page.

Please understand that those fund managers you mentioned are not tied to those banks as you think. Your invested funds have no connection with those banks. For your information, it's an offence, as stated by the SEC, for your invested money to be in any bank related to the fund manager.

Hence, we have the following as parties to a mutual fund

- SEC-registered Fund Manager
- Custodian bank - which must not be related to the fund manager in any way
- Trustees
- Regulator - The SEC

Clear your doubt about a fund manager

No more doubt about whether an operator is authentic or not.
It's not a matter of popularity, it's a matter of being authentic.

The cut-off time for Norrenberger MMF is now 3 pm on any business day.

It means that any deposit made before 3 pm will have the same-day value, and investors will earn interest on the same day.

This is a very good development, I observed it yesterday when I deposited 30k into my Norrenberger mutual fund around 11 am and I was surprised my 30k was already at work when I checked my account around 5 pm.

Kudos to Norrenberger asset managers at the moment, their 1% management fee is also a big GOAL for me, unlike the usual 1.5% from most asset managers.

However, we hope that Norrenberger keeps up with these encouraging developments and don't backslide.....

Stanbic IBTC isn't doing much at the moment, their rate hasn't been encouraging at all, their monthly reinvestment is what they are using as a bait and exactly what is still keeping many with them, but with the low rate they are giving, compared to others, even if they reinvest on weekly basis, they are still gonna be lagging behind

It is always good to have more than one asset manager, because the situation often changes with time.... Those asset managers with low rates and conditions today might be on top tomorrow....

Hi, I am thinking of investing about 100m on Norrenberger because their interest is very okay at the moment compared to others, however I am concerned about the confidence level on them at the moment considering the fact they just started operation about 8yrs ago. It's relatively new compared to some established asset management. Please I need advice from experienced investors, what do you think?

Norrenberger wants to challenge the status quo, apart from the cut-off time and rate; they are the only asset management firm that has its head office in Abuja. Watch out for these guys; they mean business. Seven years already and still counting...

With excellent operational efficiency, customers might even over-look 1%-2% difference.

When i see Stanbic slacking I just shake my head. Imagine them delaying a transaction for days cuz the person forget to put narration. Even after you send them evidence of payment showing transactions details in a follow-up mail immediately after payment.

It is like they have new generation of status quo workers, that don’t want to go even an extra mile, for any reason.

This is from experience, I use both Stanbic & FBNQ. I maintain a specific ratio between them. I didn’t know that for some reasons during that period, the bank i was using wasn’t sending customer narration.

24 hours later, FBNQ credited. After 3 days I was still speaking english with Stanbic. They were even the ones day that informed of the no narration problem. It was just very unnecessary, given the fact that i always message the customer service of both companies; immediately after payment, with screenshots, my Investment ID and evidence of payment. Imagine my disdain, reading from Stanbic customer service executive that the delay was because the initial transfer from an account also bearing my name oo had no narration angry like i also sent you a follow-up mail with evidence of payment why tf are telling me this undecided

I would never have imagined a few years back, that FBNQ would over take Stanbic in terms of operational efficiency. FBNQ wey before they open my Money Market account, I know wetin my eye see lol. The mail trail long.

With Stanbic’s abysmal rates nowadays, my funds movement is sure. I just never get their time.

I have written much about this at different occasions on this thread that the safety of your fund or risk associated with it doesn't depend on the fund mansger rather, it depends on the nature of the fund.

For as much as a fund manager is regulated by SEC and all the parties to the fund are present, no worries irrespective of the age of the fund manager, your investment is safe.

I'm not writing this because I'm a rep to Norrenberger, it's the fact about asset management from experience of over 20 years.

IamtheDef:
This is actually incorrect, these companies that you have listed are separate entities distinct from the banks that you have mentioned (they used to be under the same umbrella but not anymore) . Different scope of business and regulators, if something were to happen to FBNQuest for example, First bank isn't going to refund your investment nor is it their business
But atleast the reputation built by first bank over the years means this FBNQuest is unlikely to fold up.
Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 10:15am On Dec 13, 2025
suckprick:
Thank you. Please can you shed more light on the bolded.
On Point 1: Nature of Mutual Funds

Mutual funds are primarily defined by the nature of the fund, not by the fund manager. Broadly, they are categorized as:

Low risk – e.g., Money Market Funds (MMF)

Medium risk – e.g., Bond Funds

High risk – e.g., Equity Funds

Irrespective of the fund manager, the safest category—by definition—is the Money Market Fund. Whether the fund manager is old or newly established, an MMF remains low risk and focused on capital preservation.

For example, an equity fund does not become less risky because it is managed by Stanbic, nor does it become more risky because it is managed by Norrenberger or a firm that started less than a year ago. Risk is determined by the asset class, not the brand name of the fund manager.

On Point 2: SEC-Mandated Checks and Balances

For every fund type, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) mandates a strict structure of checks and balances. These include the following parties:

- Registered Fund Manager
The fund manager must be registered not only with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) but also licensed by the SEC. SEC registration is the key requirement here.

- Custodian Bank
This is an independent bank that is completely unrelated to the fund manager. A fund manager that belongs to a banking group cannot use its affiliate bank as custodian.
Examples:

Stanbic Asset Management → Custodian: UBA

Norrenberger → Custodian: UBA

FBNQuest → Custodian: Citibank

United Capital (UCAP) → Custodian: Stanbic Bank

Therefore, assuming you are dealing with a bank simply because the asset manager belongs to the same group is a misconception. The bank and the asset manager are separate entities with no operational overlap in this regard.

- Trustees
Trustees act as co-signatories to the fund accounts. This is why collection accounts of fund managers typically carry two names.
No funds move in or out without the knowledge and authorization of the trustees. They also ensure that the fund’s mandate is strictly followed. For example, they ensure that investors’ funds in an MMF are invested only in approved instruments such as Treasury Bills and commercial papers, and not diverted into equities or other high-risk instruments, regardless of attractive rates.

- SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission)
In the capital market, the SEC is the apex regulator. It oversees and regulates all activities of fund and asset managers.
Simply put, the SEC is to fund/asset managers what the CBN is to commercial banks and other deposit money banks.

Finally,

Any fund that operates with all the structures above in place is safe to invest in, even for very large sums, and investors can be confident and at rest.

Anything outside this framework—regardless of the name, promised returns, or how long it has existed—should be treated with caution, as it is likely a Ponzi scheme.

Also, the fact that I share registration links does not make me your fund manager, nor does it mean you are investing with me. By reason of knowledge and experience, I am simply a representative and ambassador of some of these firms.

Please be well guided.

Kindly click the second link in my signature to register with Norrenberger and support my ministry, or feel free to reach out to me for more information on mutual funds or stocks.

Happy investing!
