Just got back from X, and according to Osasu, he said he spoke with some people and that there'll be little to no changes at all from the squad that went to the playoffs in Morocco, because according to them, "they need people they already know" or something like that.

Are y'all still hopeful Nigeria will perform? 😂
If they don't do well in this nations cup what will happen next will be worse than the change they are against. The whole team may be disbanded and overhauled. Home based players and unknown players will come in. The temptation to disband rhrm will be too great. This team is gradually fading out. Its better they make the changes now and see what happens. Right now maybe injecting 3 to 7 players will make the difference. If they don't do well in the nations cup the call for an outright disbandment of the team will be too much to resist. The logic will be that after all the worst has happened and we don't have anything to loose again. What happened afterv2010 world cup and just before the 2002 world cup may happen again. Its better they just inject some new players now and see what happens. I am nit saying disbanding them is good. Its just that people will simple get tired of their failures and disappointments.

If the coaches feel he can do it,no problem.
But I feel more confident having someone like Nwabali or Enyeama in post than Okoye or Uzoho.
Alright.

TheCongo2:
That still doesn’t change the simple point: Nigeria has lost its football identity. The moment you enter a Nigerian forum like Nairaland, almost every discussion is about the British league. It’s as if the country doesn’t even have a league of its own. Whether you admit it or not, sport-wise, Nigeria still operates like a British subject.

And let me be clear: I’ve never supported African countries depending on foreign-born players to build a national team. Show me what any of these countries — including Nigeria — have achieved on the world stage with this strategy, apart from the occasional AFCON run. Nothing.

Now, comparing Nigeria’s local football identity to Congo’s is like comparing day and night. Nigeria has no football culture to stand on. The dependence runs deep.

Meanwhile, Congo has built its own football backbone with local work, local clubs, and local talent:

In the last 20 years, Congolese clubs have won four African club competitions.
Congo has won two CHAN titles, a tournament specifically for local-based players.

Nigeria? Zero CHAN titles. Zero African club trophies in the last 20 years.

TP Mazembe went all the way to the FIFA Club World Cup final, beating the Brazilian champion Internacional in the semifinal.

When I once met a Brazilian guy and said I was from Congo, his first reaction was, “TP Mazembe!” He even mentioned Kidiaba’s dance — it became famous in Brazil.

That is what football identity looks like. A country that earns global recognition without depending on foreign aid.
2022 was not too long ago. First world cup semi final for an african side achieved by a majorly foreign based morroco. You cant see home based countries like dr congo in such records. Football identity is also not limited to clubs alone. Mention jay jay in turkiye and you might see someone carry you like a baby for being a nigerian. If i ask you to show me what your development has given you other than your tp mazambe, you will give me stories as usual because to you national football identity only revolves around Chan and caf champions league trophies. Nigeria's football identity has produced 21 african player of the year awards both in male and female category. ALL our NATIONAL TEAMS from senior to youth teams have won a trophy in their respective sections. Osimhen was born in nigeria, came through our youth teams and was still the african player of the year 3 awards ago. When last has any player from your country gone through this process to become the african player of the year? Instead of you to be praying to get to our level, you are alienating a thousand other criterias and sticking to chan and CAFCL to claim the better football identity.
