Paul believed he was persecuting Christians and he thought he was being right about it.

He believed he was fighting for God.(He was involved in the stoning of Stephen)
He was zealous for the wrong cause.
So he was surprised that the God he thought he was fighting for, told him that he(Paul) was fighting against God his creator!

He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul! Saul! Why are you persecuting me?" (Acts 9: 4)


This turned his zeal all around to work for the good cause.
And he could do a lot even more than the disciples (if you see it in a particular way) because his zeal increased and he wanted to make things right as much as he could.

They believe that they are fighting for God(still remains funny how people think God cannot fight) but then, they don't know exactly who the true God is. In one night,a Single angel killed 185000 soldiers.
These terrorists don't know that God simply wants them to repent and become Pauls, otherwise, it does not cost God a second to send hundred of that kind of Angel to kill every existing Terrorist in a matter of seconds.
But, we as Christians pray that we don't wan't them dead but that God have mercy on them and reveal himself to them. Then, they would know what they are doing...

Normally,the fact that those people stoned Stephen, they are already condemned to death
But, Stephen's prayer of Forgiveness brought Paul out of his ignorance.

Our prayers now should be that God brings the Terrorists/Bandits out of Ignorance and Greed.

Since you can do this, this means the best way to know if Paul was actually called by Jesus is to look at the instructions given to Paul and the message Paul preached in parallel to Jesus own message and the Apostles.

Then we can extend the same to Muhammad because muhammad only made a claim like that of Paul.

I just want to know how Paul knew it was Jesus talking when he never knew him before! Did someone who met Jesus before in real life confirmed to him that that was truly Jesus?

Secondly, no Pharisee would want to be seen with Jesus then. That's why Nicodemus went to see Jesus in the night.
