Court Remands Former Labour Minister Ngige In Kuje Over Alleged Corruption by Newsgeek24(op): 11:32am On Dec 12, 2025

Justice Mariam Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has ordered the remand of the former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, at the Kuje Correctional Center, Very Nigerian reports.

Ngige, who was arraigned on an alleged corruption charge, will remain in Kuje Correctional Centre until Monday, when his bail application will be heard

The minister was specifically charged with conferring unfair advantage on his associates in the award of several contracts when he held office as minister between 2015 and 2023.

He was also accused of corruptly accepting gifts of several million naira through his organizations while he was in office.

The ex-minister, however, pleaded not guilty to all the eighth-count charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, his bail application could not be taken as it was served on the prosecution shortly before the court proceeded.

His lead counsel, Patrick Ikweato (SAN), pleaded with the court to admit the former minister on health grounds, pending the hearing of the bail.

But the request was opposed by EFCC’s Counsel Sylvanus Tahir (SAN), on claims that the former minister was a flight risk, adding that he would respond formally to the bail application.

In a short ruling, Justice Hassan adjourned till Monday, December 15, for the hearing in the bail application.

In the charge marked: FCT/HC/CR/726/2025, the former minister in count one was alleged to have used his position as Minister of Labour and Employment and the Supervising Minister of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), “to confer an unfair advantage upon Cezimo Nigeria Limited, a company whose MD/CEO and alter ego, Ezebinwa Amarachukwu Charles is your associate, by the award of Seven different contracts for consultancy, training and supply by the NSITF to the said company to the tune of N366,470,920.68 among other charges”.

The only problem be say even those currently in power would be doing the same things and even worse things than the one they are persecuting and prosecuting people for.

when the next set comes, we go through the same cycle..

now Imagine this: Abacha looted money, loots were recovered, another set relooted the recovered loot.. now EFCC is asking them to bring back the relooted loots.. then when it is brought back.. the new set loots their own..

It is now clear that those who shot at Ngige's convoy were not ESN or IPOB but Federal officers who wanted to arrest him..

Ngige being a stubborn man must have resisted the arrest, forcing the officers to apply force.

When the news came out, in order they save face, they blamed IPOB and Nnamdi Kanu who is in Sokoto prison.

You see how government uses the brains of Gbadorians to play Kalo-Kalo. grin

To be a Judge, you have to enter the Civil Service. Igbo people don't do much of Civil Service in Nigeria State. May be that's why.

This is not his first time

His corruption cases are a legion. These counts are perhaps the most recent ones.

If you search online, you will see corruption petitions against him by his people dating back to 2006!

Mr P. Obi alone, pinned questionable N11.8 billion debt on Ngige and his administration. N11.8 billion was worth $93 million then and equivalent to N139 billion today! And now this.

It's same Ngige who vehemently frustrated and stopped the upright late Chief Kokori from assuming office as Chairman of NISTF to pave way for the corruption in the 8 counts.

His corruption case seems to look more like the case of "everyday for the thief but one day for the owner."

Every one who has stolen and eaten government yam must vomit and poo it regardless of whose ox is gored.

There's nothing witch-hunt about it. You should be more concerned that at the end of the day nothing concrete is coming out of it. He will bailed and life continues as usual, yaya bello is a case in point.
This should worry anyone who is interested in Nigeria's progress

Remember when he was almost assassinated and kidnapped. Immediately they sent their members to flood the internet with IPOB-ESN propaganda.

Three days later he is in EFCC custody.

Now you see those that are working AGAINST IGBOs. What is Ngiges crime? So the UGM are actually Government sponsored.
