You don't get to chose the cell tower your mobile connects to, it's done automatically by the telco. If you are moving from one point to another then it changes from the cell tower to the next available tower closest to your location. He must think everyone is as dumb as his party's supporters.

That was the job Pantami came to do and he did it so well. Buhari had strategically placed those ministers in positions and portfolios had been made known long before the appointment. This was one of the reasons why it took them over 7 months to appoint ministers because every faction that came together to form the apc refused to agree on certain terms. Fashola who appeared neutral didn't find it easy. The accountant he accused of stealing billions with several porch cars found in his yard is a fulani man. Till today, he's as free as anything. Instead of keeping Fashola there, they split the ministry so he'd stop opening their nyansh.

I remember some staff in that ministry crying foul during Pantami's term as minister when they discovered his plans. He denied it that there was nothing like that. They swept the matter under the carpet and nothing is heard till today. I don't want to talk about the thousands of foreign fulanis he registered for the NIN. We're deeply asleep in Nigeria. I hope it wouldn't be too late before acting.

The minister spoke in a chat with Seun Okinbaloye on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday night.

Tijani said the monitoring of bandits’ calls for intelligence purposes is “more technical” than Nigerians assume.

The minister said the criminals bounce calls off multiple towers to throw off security agents tracking their communication.

“The reason why the president actually pushed us to invest in towers in those areas is that we realised that there was a special kind of technology that they [the bandits] were using to call,” Tijani said.

“They were not using the normal towers; they bounce calls off multiple towers. That is why they enjoy living in areas that [are] unconnected.”

Tijani said the federal government is working on upgrading the country’s satellites in space to improve security monitoring.

“Because if our towers are not working, our satellites will work,” he said.

The minister said the situation emphasised the need for “significant investment” in telecommunication infrastructure.

“If you go to China, they have over four million 5G towers. The total number of towers we have in Nigeria is just about 40,000,” Tijani said.

There has been a surge in insecurity across the country in recent weeks, particularly in the north.

Schoolchildren have been abducted by bandits in Niger, Kebbi and churches were attacked in Kogi and Kwara states.

The spate of school abductions and killings in communities prompted the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to fix a nationwide protest for December 17.

I've ALWAYS emphasized for years now that Nigeria should purchase and launch low-earth orbit satellites for higher picture resolutions to pick images of the hiding spots of these highly IRRESPONSIBLE militia bandits in the forests in all parts of Nigeria.

Surveillance and attack drones too will complement the satellites and ground forces can then easily move in. Period.

Those insidious terror members aren't in the real sense illiterates.

Embedded right among them within the Foreign Fula militia bandits or jihadi insurgency gangs like JNIM or ISWAP are technologically-savvy jihadi members who handle these tech-related issues liked operating drones and making satellite phone calls or using cryptic messages via email

I recall that a former DSS DG, Mike Ejiofor from Issele Uku in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State told a media outlet how he was kidnapped by a gang of Fulas while driving through Kogi State on his way to the FCT in Nigeria, said some of the Fulas who kidnapped him spoke some English and one of them had a computer on him that he was using to communicate.

They had guns on them and eventually his folks paid ransom and he fortunately got freed. That's a whole former DG of the DSS during the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency who got kidnapped during the 2nd-term of the Buhari Presidency.

In 2024, I saw the video of a turbaned Fula bandit and his gang from one of the Sahellian countries chilling in the bush but that turbaned young Fula in his late 20s or early 30s was operating a small surveillance drone right in the video. That shows how far these criminals have gone in using technology to engage in crime in such a short time. Strategies have to change URGENTLY to the use of low-earth orbit satellites for tracking and monitoring these creeps to destroy their hiding places and criminal networks.
