This is not to discourage you but Master in Public health (MPH) will lead you nowhere here, consider job opportunities after graduation except you plan to upgrade to a PhD.

Deeedeee:
Thanks so much for your response. I m grateful.
I am going for MPH. The first I had wasn’t an MPH rather MSPH. Although the school I chose doesn’t have a concentration more reason why I am drawn to it, but in the long I would love to practice more in global health/health administration. I have gone through the courses I will be taking and they are so different from what I have done in the past.

Has anyone gone for H1B/H4 stamping recently. I am in the US and I am planning on going back to do somethings and then go for my stamping on the 5th of January. I just wanted to know the situation of things as regards that. I heard visa appointments are be rescheduled in us embassies in India.
Additionally, what are the chances that Nigeria will me placed on travel ban?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by KingDeity:
Hello everyone,

Please I need an information regarding proof of finance. How many months(minimum) bank statement do I need pls?

Also, I was denied USA study visa 3 times in 2016/17, however, I’m currently in the UK. Are there any other considerations I need to know before going for my visa interview here in the UK?

Hello.

U.S. embassy does not really care much about how many months it takes you or your funder (sponsor) to gather the funds. What they care for is the availability of the funds, sources of the funds, and the authenticity of the funds. But in general terms, 6 to 12 months is acceptable.

Your 3- times previous denial will still keep hunting you at any U.S. embassy post, until you finally have a break through. In this respect, be prepare to explain those denials with wisdom, and your current genuine intention to travel for study.

Finally, your current location will also not do much good to your new visa application because of your previous denials. Hence, you will be label a forum/consular shopper at the U.S. A embassy in the UK, that is, if you do not have any strong ties overthere.
Thanks for the tips. You sound very knowledgeable about how they operate, like bruv, you good grin

Anyways, the same course that I was denied visa studying(Nursing) was the same course I later studied back in Nigeria, after which I practiced in Nigeria, left for the UK, and I’ve been practicing as a UKRN. My sibling is here in the UK and I have a full time job. And honestly I don’t know how to answer questions regarding my previous denials, cos Mehn I don’t know why I was even denied visa the previous time. I answered all my questions correctly, yet I got denied back to back.

Then the second question I have is regarding to the choice of my program. Someone told me(however I don’t know how truthful it is) that going for MSc Nursing with CPT has high denial rate, that I should use a program that doesn’t have CPT and I use any health related program, that when I get to the USA, I can switch program with another school. Please how feasible is this?

Thanks alot

Can you switch schools in the US ? Yes that is you have enough time to get admission in the other school

Then about high rate of denial unless that source has verifiable proof then ...
That a school offers CPT doesn't mean you have to use it.

How do you intend to find your MSc? That the real issue. Your school will ask for your proof of funds that will be indicated on your i20.

That's what the visa officer will see , be ready to respond to any deficit indicated there on the i20

Unlike the UK where you submit bank documents as part of your application for the US student visa application your funding is what the school will ask before giving you i20.

Omor huh

From your experience, is CPTs connected to visa denials? And for the POF, it’s not a problem at all. I just wanna do 30 calendar dates duration and print out statement without showing the deposits, do you think that would fly pls?

In this respect, you have good ties to the Uk, but the onus to display it comprehensively to the U.S consular lies within your visa-application prowess.
I will recommend that you display genuine intention to aquire a U.S nursing degree, and the keen interest in practising your nursing career in america other than the UK, or your country of origin. All these can be professionally outline in your new visa application.

YOU.
And honestly I don’t know how to answer questions regarding my previous denials, cos Mehn I don’t know why I was even denied visa the previous time. I answered all my questions correctly, yet I got denied back to back.

Well, denial under 214b is meant to keep all unsuccessful visa-applicants looking for the denial reasons, so that they wont have the clue to easy U.S.A visas, and they wont have the point to dispute had it been that there is availability of U.S.A visa appeal. Nonetheless, I am very very certain that the 3times visa denials was justifiable on their end. You obviously failed to address a particular point.

YOU.

No one has ever changed my life/career goals with official or unofficial bulletin or information, because I believe I can be the first to break the record or do my own in a unique way.
Msc Nursing (CPT) allows you to gain work experiences in any healthcare settings , ie hospitals, as part of your curriculum in order for you to be familiar with the U.S nursing roles prior to graduation, so how will this specifically affect your visa ? I even think you need this academic route since you are aiming to become an advanced practice nurse.

Anyways, your only worry should be how to put in a successful f1-visa application, and how to engage your next consular with wit.
Omorrr, burst my brains grin grin grin

Baba I thought they said that one of the best ways of having your visa approved is showing that u have genuine interest of leaving the USA after studying, right? Don’t u think telling them that I prefer practicing in the USA instead of the UK will mean shooting myself in the foot? I’m a bit confused about this

You have been working in the UK after your Bsc Nursing , so why did you not go back to Nigeria and look for job? The same way you will stay back in the U.S. after your Msc Nursing. That is the simple arithmetic the consular will use against you.

If you intend to return to the UK or Nigeria after your Msc in the United States, then why the need for you to chose the U.S for your Msc ? You have a U.K Bsc already and your present certificate can work in any country even in the U.S (with advanced certification exam), so ask yourself, what kind of Msc nursing will any U.S University give you that a public reseach UK University cannot give you ?

If you tell the the visa officer that you intend to return to the UK or Nigeria after your study then thats automatic denial because it means you are not being honest. You have shown desperation for america 3 times and got denied and this is your 4th attempt.

Honesty and aligned application is your last joker. By this stage, every consular you will be meeting will automatically knows via your past visa application records that you wanted to live in america. Dont you think genuine intention, and change of game is what you really need now ?
Olololo you don catch me grin grin grin

Like I said it is your school that will tell you what they need for proof of your ability to pay not anyone here.

Sorry if i am kind of harsh. But try and follow my path. You see, any time we say the truth to the consular or in our visa application, we usually relief them of a big task. If you let your intention known in a professional and natural ways, they will grant your visa.

I believe you are moving forward. I admire your humbleness. 👍
Far from it, you weren’t harsh grin

There is now travel ban.

🇺🇸 December 16, 2025: New Travel Proclamation

• Partial entry suspension was introduced for Nigerian nationals, affecting both immigrant visas (Green Cards) and major non‑immigrant categories: B-1, B-2, B-1/B‑2 (business/tourism), F (students), M (vocational), and J (exchange) visas.

• This action adds Nigeria to a list of 15 countries facing similar measures, aimed at countries with vetting/documentation and security-sharing deficiencies.

• Reasons cited include:
• High overstay rates in U.S.—5.56% for B‑1/B‑2 visas; 11.9% for F/M/J visas
• Security concerns related to Boko Haram and ISIS activity.

• Exceptions exist for U.S. lawful permanent residents, current visa holders, diplomats, athletes, etc., with waivers considered case‑by‑case.

• The proclamation is data-driven and intended as an incentive for Nigeria to improve vetting cooperation. Reviews are planned.

Note this is effective from January 1, 2026

I read it also on BCC and Washinton post but i am yet to see it posted officially on the U.S. embassy website, therefore, it is not official yet.

Whenever president Trump talks with frustration when answering journalists, that does not automatically turn his wishes to law. He has said and done many things like that in the past, but at the end it was not ratified by the white house or halt by the supreme court.

As of the time of typing this message , it is still a proposal (not official) that Nigeria might be place on "Temporary Entry Restiction (not visa ban) come January 2026.
