I really wish we had the kind of top businessmen and industrialist speak up and posit their views on our public finances and the true way forward for our economy the way Elon did in the US in reaction to Trump's BBB.

And the way you hear industry leaders in the UK and other European countries engage the media and the citizens on alternative ways the economy cam be handled be cause they do know a lot.

The reason is simple. Alternative ideas shared by politicians alone are often seen as posturing but when those who are affected speak up and push for better ways then the nation takes note.

There used to be a time when the likes of Christopher Kolade and Ernest Shonekan openly aired their views on things economic policy, wrote articles in the media on the state of Nigeria's economy.

But today there is palpable silence. Everyone appears to be scared about putting out their views even when they are badly affected by the way government is run, by the sheer amount of resources that are wasted in administering this country.

It should not be up to the political class alone to do the dirty work of challenging the misdeeds of government.
