The truth about the matter is the Nigeria of 1960 is not the Nigeria of today. Things have changed on so many levels.

It’s like a 60yr old man who abandoned a promising career at 22 to face music only to realize that this music dream isn’t working. He can’t go back to the career he had before because things have changed in that time! The people are different, the leaders are different, everything is different!. In 36 states you have people who are planning to be governor and when their turn comes you say they should revert to 4 or 6 regions? Let’s say that I was assured of governor of small Ekiti state , I have played the game right, zoning favours me, I have received the endorsement of the godfathers and kingmakers, i have spent money on borehole transformer and scholarships (lol). I should now go and compete with aspirants from 5 other states including moneybag states like Lagos for governor of western region?

And you think he he political heavyweights will instruct my state senators, house and state assembly members to vote I. Favour of this new constitution?

All this assumes you can even get the votes for a new constitution.

Independence constitution can be with any number of states. What is best is total division. Yoruba are for one too large to not have their nation fully under their control. Every ethnic nationality should have their land under their control with police at least.

Anioma lies on oil and gas. The land is rich in mineral resources. The same in the SE with Imo and Anambra states holding huge reserves of gas.

There’s now no stopping it from happening, with members of the NASS agreeing. Now to complete the processes and the pronouncement in 2026. Get ready to be called Onye Igbo. But there is absolutely nothing to gain Joining the SE.
Not with IPOB and UGM having a free rein there.

Anioma would be best as a south south state.

Any group that wants a state should be given a state. That is the idea in the independence constitution but states should not be equally represented at any level. States are not equal.

The South East didn't come together to do ñSit at home. It wasn't initiated by their government and so anioma joining east will not make them to do sit at home. Many places in the same east don't do it. Enugu, awka, Owerri, Ebonyi , Umuahia don't do it.

The same bridge joining the two cities of asaba and Onitsha will continue joining it. Anioma will not develop legs and migrate to the Onitsha side of the bridge.
