See people daydreaming about going to the world cup because Congo fielded an ineligible player yet they can't mention the name of the said player.

Better focus on the Afcon

Hmmm the way this Congo matter is gathering momentum.

Even Osasu that's not exactly the NFF's biggest fan is on the matter.

Anyway until a miracle happens let's just nurse our failure jeje and plan for the future.

Nairalands who na dey forget things so easily.. remember is because of this dual citizenship that's the reason a goalkeeper in austria name Tobias lawal and ehizigue that play for udinese couldn't play for the super eagle, because they refuse to renounce their other citizenship.

But even if it happens, don't you think a replay should be ordered between Nigeria and Cameroon as the Congolese went through Cameroon also. In the spirit of fairness.

So what happens next if DRC is slammed ?
The CAF play-off final will be replayed between Nigeria and Cameroon?
It can't be that straight forward as I am sure many of these players also played qualifiers in the group before the play offs. This will ultimately affect the results of their group especially if they featured in those games. It simply means, they may not even be 2nd in that group and the whole exercise involving them gets cancelled (3 points 3 goals to each opponent they beat before the caf qualifiers).

If the above is true... Then FIFA is going to do so much Surgery with points and as Osasu said, this is gonna be a serious storm!

Is not like Stanley is better than him, he doesn't have to understudy anyone, so how is he a freeloader sir??

If (a very big if) FIFA suspends DR Congo and Nigeria eventually makes it to the world cup

1. Will Troost-Ekong come out of retirement to play in the world cup?

2. How will Maduka Okoye be feeling with his decision to opt out of the AFCON and the possibility of the coach axing him from the team and not selecting him for America?

I imagine both would have conflicted emotions, and be ruing their decisions.
Okoye had nothing to lose since after that game against TUNISIA, or It's ALGERIA, he had been going from strength to strength, if anything at all SE are the ones at lost here,

By now we should be boasting of 2-3 solid goalkeepers, ( OKOYE,STANLEY, and one other person )

But one small mistake we nearly crucified him, since then he had done well for himself and club,

While national team is an unforgiving ground, it takes patience to build and guides,

But we SE no even get one grain of patience, Same as awa glass house people wey sabi sack Coach

You're right. Scheduling difficulties would probably play a part but who says it can't happen in Mexico during the last round of playoffs.

All this is just speculation because for all we know we're just clutching at straws.

All this won't have been necessary if the boys had just qualified all the pitch.

Eric Chelle has to see Nigeria off to the inter-confederation playoffs and possibly the World Cup. He must not go just yet. Of course, that depends on his AFCON performance but I'm sure he'll do well. cool

Okoye came into the team suspiciously as a third tier club GK. Platter of gold.
Fate handed him starting shirt. Platter of gold.

He shat the bed and rightly lost it.
He did nothing to get the shirt in the first place, did nothing to keep it and has done nothing to get it back.

And what criteria do you have to not rate Stanley over him?

The lad is an entitled freeloader

I am pessimistic about Afcon but today match should be interesting, let’s see the new boys and what they have to offer against quality opposition.

No Moses no
Iwobi no ndidi

The new midfielders..

This would give us a new angle

What's our offence against Okoye, are we the one that made Nwabali to snatched number one from Okoye and Uzoho, now he made a request to be number one which coach declined, even great Enyeama and Rufai never made such request...Onana as man utd first choice was on the bench during Afcon, then who is Okoye, fact eagles made Okoye despite being a foreign born,he got the opportunity,a regional league goalkeeper to national team,it was obvious he wasn't ready but Rohr guided him and used national team to secure his first major European moved to Rotterdam. He should be grateful.

God bless you for this comment. What an insult asking to be number one even Osimhen didn't asked to be number 9,every players need to work for starting XI...with Nwabali fitness and erratic displayed of recent,Okoye has the opportunity to be number one in Afcon but decided to be left out

I said it here if Congo did anything against FIFA rule then they should forget it,there are rules guiding switching of nationality.I discussed this with my brother a SAN and member of FIFA legal team and he said and I quote "there are rules and if any nation goes against it then FIFA sanctions will be enforced strictly"

I don’t just want to argue initially but you nailed it here. Most of us Nigerians don’t understand how the western or global world works. Just like you said it’s all about documentation to verify any claim just like it was found out about the SA player who had two yellow cards to be suspended, was it documented that he was suspended? Of course yes and that’s it. It has nothing to do with what anyone said at any time but paper and documentation to back up any claim. What Congo needs to do is to back up whatever they claim with documentation or credentials as you call it and all arguments will cease including those talking about wuruwuru. In fact I will be happy for DRC if all documentation shows they are in order but if not o ti lo.
This your last sentence make me laugh.

People think it's personal but that's a projection of the Nigerian mind set where laws are not respected but are instead used as a tool to either favor one person or punish another person.

That's not Oyibo man's outlook. Outside the qualification process, Fifa does not care if Nigeria qualifies or not. They are not interested in favoring Nigeria or punishing Congo. Rather It's about the sanctity of the law. It's about consequences, it's about tomorrow.

If Congo failed to follow due process, the axe that fell on SA will fall on them. Shikena
