suckprick:In your earliest post, I saw you quoted 100M to invest. I would advise you spread your investment into Tbills and MMF to enjoy both privileges. Lock 30% in Tbills when Tbills rate is high and Invest 50% in a MMF of choice permanently. Always Use 10% to shop around different MMF offering the best rate after 30 days. Lastly, Invest the remaining 10% in a balanced Mutual funds that has both stocks and bonds. If you follow this strategy, whether rates are poor or not, you will always smile because your financial power (investment volume) is making you enjoy good returns from all sides. (Tbills, MMFs, Stocks and Bond) For more insight, see my YouTube channel down |

Creditalerts:I just posted a video on YouTube why some MMF earns better than others. Check it out. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Beeron: 7:38am On Dec 18, 2025 |
ipobcannibals:Let me shock you. Do you know you don't get REAL YIELD from T.Bills regardless of the bank you buy from? If I am lying about this. Check FMDQ to know that only banks enjoy Tbills real yield and they only increase returns for you to buy when bank liquidity is tight. CBN cutting rate or not doesn't move them. Auction is just like playful bazaar to them. Now I am telling you this because, MMF is really where you enjoy from all sides without locking up your money for so long. You have to be liquid with cash to shop around. Banks knows this, that's why they bait and hook you with Tbills yield, then turn around to use that same money to invest in their own Tbills or OMO for higher yield. Your money is gone for one year. See more in my recent video on YTube. |

Hello @emmasoft, with this info from Norrenberger, does it mean Mutual funds are exempted from the 10% WHT?
|
| Re: Mutual Funds by emmasoft(m): 2:40pm On Dec 18, 2025 |
nickae:Based on the mail, since the underlying asset - Tbills will be taxed, there will be no tax on MMF. It means that before the returns are given to investors, all necessary taxation or deductions would have been effected. However, we wait to see exactly what will play out by next year and going forward. |

For tbose with norrenberg, it is only payment through credit card that is available for mutual fund investment? |
| Re: Mutual Funds by nickae: 7:21pm On Dec 18, 2025 |
squad1:I asked this same question a time ago and this was the advice: Don't use that method to fund. Once you complete the form and submit, wait they will send you the collection account. You don't need to use third party payment system to avoid high charges. Their collection account is a UBA account, you make a transfer to it and you will be fine. Use your name as narration and send evidence to them. For about 7yrs now, I have attentively studied the best options between MMF and Treasury bills, at the end of my intensed observation, after investing aggressively in both instruments, I honestly want to tell you all that MMF has far more advantages than treasury bills in all ramification, and MMF is one of the best ways to accumulate great wealth, with LIQUIDITY. Most people often think treasury bills is the best options, I wouldn't blame them because I was in that position before... Let me break it down properly... Patient is one of the greatest advantages most successful or wealthy investors have over others, and in MMF you need a whole lot of patience to count your multiple wins and patience is what most Nigerians don't have, because of our quest for urgent results or wealth... If you calculate the YEAR-TO-DATE (YTD) rates of most asset managers like Stanbic, FBNQuest, Norrenberger etc, you gonna be having 17% and above, with the advantage of reinvesting your fund quarterly or monthly (by stanbic only) Treasury bill is good if you are the impatient investor, but MMF is for those with passion to build great wealth beyond 364 days |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Beeron: 10:34pm On Dec 18, 2025 |
I'm Donbrig:Nigeria MMF is an equivalent of U.S Blue Chip Stocks ETF investment. The people really milking the best out of it are people looking to hide their massive loot, political exposed people and foreign investors who has root in Nigeria. The most I study Nigeria capital market, the more it's clear to me that, it's an incestrual relationship between the government and the banks. |

| Re: Mutual Funds by Donbrig: 7:24pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Gone are the days when we had very few asset managers like FBNQuest or Stanbic, we now have so many asset managers working hard to change the narratives in the industry, with cutting edge technology... There has never been a better time to make money while asleep. emmasoft: |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Beeron: 7:34pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Odunharry:No one said, Tbills was doing 30% sir. Re-read again, then you will see a different meaning to it. If Tbills was doing 30%, that means the economy is overheating. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Creditalerts: 7:46pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Donbrig:I am really regretting while I invested most of my money on stanbic MMF 😢their 16% is very annoying next week I will pull out my fund to other MMF doing well |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Odunharry(m): 9:19pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Beeron:Just saw it.. Around last year yield was as high as 30% though inflation then was over 30% |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Beeron: 9:48pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Odunharry:Gbam! The economy was overheating at that point. It was at that point that Cardoso felt the need to do CPI rebasing. And kept hiking MPR. The funny thing is, we weren't seeing results as FX was threatening to spiral out of control. Cardoso had to double down by rebasing the GDP and refused to cut MPR. People on this thread were happy for high MMF rates and Tbills rates. I was just laughing and thinking, only if they knew the sleepless night Cardoso was having. Now suddenly, Inflation began to drop It all seem like a sleight of hand to me because, personally, what I think is happening is: Strip out the rebasing, Nigeria inflation is still very much high. Now Inflation numbers has been coming down because we now exiting the rainning season when there is abundance of food. Now strip away food inflation and let's focus on core inflation. You will realize the fear in Cardoso's mind which is why he refused to cut rate in the last MPC meeting. Our economy is very fragile. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Odunharry(m): 10:12pm On Dec 19, 2025 |
Beeron:True this. I forsee a rate cut by February 2026. Thought assymetric corridor was lowered. Inter banks hovers currently around 22%. The last auction saw over a trillion subscription. The one bfre was around 500b or so for the longest tenure. DMO needed money, hence they increased rate slightly for the longest tenure. People should enjoy the double digit rates for now, who knows in the future, we might get to see rate drop to single digit as it was few years ago |

Creditalerts:see eh, don't get discouraged just yet. Even if others are giving you 18% while stanbic gives you 16%, hope you very much aware stanbic compounds on monthly basis vs others that doe so quarterly (every 3-months) I am yet to run a test (which I intends doing soon) BUT the fact stanbic compounds monthly should fill up most of those gaps + those high rates ain't often steady. It's 21% today doesn't mean it would remain so tomorrow or the next. I recall shared the idea of using at least 3 fund managers but most people argued I was wrong. Me wey be say I no sabi chop 1 soup for canteen (I must mix all the best soups into 1 plate), you expect me to follow just one fund manager. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Creditalerts: 12:41pm On Dec 20, 2025 |
bassdow:I'm discouraged already they are lagging behind and I will jump ship, stanbic MMF should be doing at least 17-18% now as a big fish in the game not that patry 16%😡.others have better side offers . |
| Re: Mutual Funds by IamtheDef: 1:30pm On Dec 20, 2025 |
bassdow:I have run it(although i should also add that varying rates makes it tricky and not particularly a dependable result) but based on a range of prevailing rates, those quarterly compounding trumps Stanbics monthly compounding. Like you rightly pointed out, the best way to take advantage is to have multiple fund managers |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Donbrig: 1:44pm On Dec 20, 2025 |
We should still be patient with Stanbic, I still have over 80% of my funds with them, not that Stanbic fund managers aren't good, just that we now have multiple fund managers who are working extremely hard to make a big name for their brands in the industry. I hope Stanbic fund managers improves in 2026, I strongly believe they will come up with new features to reclaim their position in the industry. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by bassdow: 5:44pm On Dec 20, 2025 |
One thing people should be aware of is, the maturedbig brands are not really in same position (desperate) as the new guys hence reason the likes of norrenberger would try to woo you with higher rates while the likes of Stanbic IBTC seem unBothered. Afterall iPhone no dey fear to put big price on top their phones whereAs the likes of tecNo no fit try am else no market. Another thing is, hopefully, those offering higher rates, ain't doing shady things. |
| Re: Mutual Funds by Donbrig: 8:00pm On Dec 20, 2025 |
Norrenberger is well positioned, they are street stmart, quiet and tactically grounded. I think they are the only fund managers with headoffice in Abuja. We wey dey with Stanbic IBTC dey envy them sometimes.... There's every reason for Stanbic fund managers to be bothered ohhh, with today's high-tech in our financial sector, any new fund manager could become the king in the industry in a short period of time... Stanbic fund managers should upgrade and put more smiles on investors faces, not easy seeing other fund managers hitting 17+% and almighty Stanbic had been battling with 16% for a while... No doubt Stanbic IBTC had made a great reputation for their brand in the industry, but when big brands don't upgrade and catch up with current realities in the market, new brands will take over in no time.... Go and ask FBNQuest fund managers. bassdow: |
