*Enugu Govt Debunks Fake News Ceding Border Community to Kogi*

The Enugu State Government has debunked a fake report, which claimed that the National Boundary Commission, NBC, had ceded Ette, a border community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area to Kogi State.

In a statement issued by the Secretary, Enugu State Boundary Committee, Dr. Solomon Ejim, on Friday, the state government assured the people of Ette as well as Igbo-Eze North LGA and Enugu State in general that the NBC was yet to publish any report or decision on the protracted interstate land dispute.

The statement read, “The attention of the Enugu State Government has been drawn to a fake and misleading online report claiming that the National Boundary Commission (NBC) has made a decision on the age-long interstate boundary dispute between Enugu State and Kogi State to the effect that Ette community in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State has been administratively ceded to Kogi State.

“The Enugu State Government wishes to state categorically that the report is fake. The Director-General of NBC has also been contacted by the government and he vehemently debunked and disowned the report as outrightly false and not emanating from the Commission.

Therefore, the people of Igbo-Eze North LGA and Enugu State in general are by this press statement enjoined to ignore the fake news, which is a clear handiwork of mischief makers. They are further enjoined not to entertain any form of anxiety, but go about their normal businesses, as no such resolution has been reached by the Commission in respect of the Enugu State–Kogi State.According to him, he was legally allocated a parcel of land after making a genuine offer of payment for the establishment of the University of Sports, which he said has since become a beneficial institution in his community.

Tell those people that we the Ette aboriginals are coming for our land. Image those people, when their relatives dies, they will take the corpse to Benue state for burial but they're busy ceding out land to Kogi state. Talk to your people before we change our minds.

I will be the last to believe any SE state will cede their land to somebody outside core Igbo land infact it is not possible, kogi chop witch or what? It can never happen so from onset I knew it was all fake news.

Ette is idoma speaking part of Enugu state. So Ette is supposed to be part of Benue state and not Kogi.

A land is not defined by a name you give it.
It is defined by the people that live on it.
If you like, cede it to another entity, its people defines its presence.

Ette is a border town between Kogi, Benue and Enugu state. The major tribes in Ette are Idoma, Igala and some handful of Igbo who migrated to Ette many years ago. Na Kogi and Benue suppose dey drag Ette no be Enugu because the people living in Ette are Indigenous Igala and Idoma

How does a whole community get ceded in a 'fake report' and the DG of NBC has to be called on the phone like a lost relative? This 'debunking' sounds like a man catching his wife in a hotel and saying she was only there to 'charge phone.' Ette people, better hold your land tight before you wake up with Kogi Indigene certificates.

Not all ette people, it's igalla speaking part of ette that's clamouring to be with kogi state.

The idoma and Igbo speaking side will not associate themselves with kogi.

The present vice chairman of igbo Eze North LGA is from ette. He from idoma speaking community.

You are wrong, the Ette situation is not particular to only them, go to Anambra you did find Igalas, go to Delta you will find Igalas, go to Nasarawa you will find Tivs, go to Taraba you will find Tivs. Ette has no border with Benue, only Kogi and Enugu. Politically Ette is recognized under Enugu, Inec,NPC etc.

So Kogi gat boundary with Enugu??
