Yes. I was asked to provide the invitation letter. I found that the consulate has been rejecting invitation letters drafted by the caller themselves, and this usually results in unnecessary delays. To fast-track the process, the caller needs to go to a cartório in Brazil, where they will draft the letter for him and stamp it with recognition of authenticity. The version issued by the cartório is equivalent to a public deed—costly, though.
Hi, please i got an invitation letter with my family’s name attached to it from my institution in Brazil and it was notarized in Brazil but still haven’t heard from the embassy since I submitted my application on the 1st of December. Not even to mail or drop off or correct anything. What could be the issue please? Thank you in advance, anticipating your reply
Re: Giving Birth In Brazil by focus1256:
Since you just submitted your application on Dec 1, wait for them to email you. They usually respond after 4 weeks of submission to request for additional documents or family`s passport. If you didnt hear from them after 4 weeks, you can email them.

Hello, have you heard from them. If no, i suggest you email them.

I received an email from them to submit additional documents after 4 weeks of submitting the application. Here is the sample of an email you can send. you should adjust it:

Dear Consular Officer,

Good day. My name is......(the name of the spouse in Nigeria) I submitted my VITEM XI (Family Reunion) visa application on.........(date you submitted your visa application), together with those of my children......(name of yur children), to reunite with my husband/wife......(name of your spouse in Brazil - the caller)

Since the submission, I have not received any email or update regarding the application status. I would like to kindly know if there are any documents or additional information required from my side to complete the process.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Best regards,
the name of the spouse in Nigeria

Do you have an idea how long it took. I'm already in Brazil, is more than six weeks since I have booked an appointment, embassy hasn't asked us to submit our passport. My wife and kids are worried

Ok. Thank you very much. Apart from the letter notarized in cartorio, what else can they accept as an equivalent as written on the e-consular website? and please what extra documents did they email you to submit?

do not give yourself unnecessary anxiety, family reunion visa application takes time, don't expect to get a response just after one month. it can run from 3-5 months or more.

I think this visa usually takes some time than the others but rest assured you will get feedback soon. Please how long after you booked an appointment did they ask you to upload a notarized invitation letter and please what letter did you upload initially that was rejected?

Maybe they’re returning your original documents back to you. I think “I felt” might be a mistranslation and it’s same as sent because mine says that too but it’s under review. Maybe you can wait until you receive the returns first to ascertain what’s inside.

no. It was something else entirely. Got it yesterday. Brazilian embassy has now made it mandatory to legalize your documents before you can apply for student visa. And police character certificate must come with receipt from ministry of foreign affairs.

First authenticate at ministry of foreign affairs and ministry of education

Notarize at either of the 2 law chambers approved by the embassy

Legalize at embassy

That's when you can apply for student visa now.

That's why my documents were sent back. I only notarize and authenticated all documents. No legalization done. I need to get receipt for my police character certificate now before i can apply for legalization because it is mandatory

I’ve been on Christmas break. Hope you have done as instructed.

I received a mail to send new flight and hotel reservation today. Maybe because the one I booked previously has expired since my travel date has passed.

It stated as “forward your new flight and hotel reservation”. I’ve already sent via mail.

Still thinking whether to forward via courier to them too.
Mine is visiting visa.

Since you have already sent hard copies before and they just asked for update of this, I don’t thinks there is need to courier it again. While I was doing my study visa, I forgot to add manual visa application form and they mailed me to send it across. Although they specifically told me I can just email it across sha. I think it should apply to yours too.
