They want to bench Lookman for Adam because they think he is not good enough.

I just dey laugh. grin

He is arguably the best player in that team along with Osimhen.

Only if una wan deceive unaself you will put some players ahead of him.

See Atalanta, the same player that was poor under one coach suddenly regained form under another coach. Why? The latter trust his ability and gave him almost full time.

Lookma na second half player. Leave him till the end and see him perform.

Chelle lost it when he pulled him out against Dr Congo along with Osimhen. I couldn't understand his rational behind bring him out.

Trust him and he will deliver. But I know why they are against him. They feel he is not assisting Osimhen. Shuuuuu!!!

They even lied on this platform SE never scored more than 2 goals when he played. What an irony!!!

Make un dey lie small small

How old are you? All these small small boys sha! The same Nigeria hosted AFCON 2000, ALL AFRICAN GAMES AND UNDER 20 WORLD CUP. REST THIS CRAP ABEG. ORDINARY IVORY COAST HOSTED AFCON JUST 2 YEARS AGO.
If you think it's just about hosting I made that post then I'm sorry

The surroundings around the stadium
The setup

With Una wooden advertising boards Nigeria don't have upto 2 world class stadium

One of the thing that's giving me hope for the super eagles on this afcon is the pitch European standard so the players will be familiar with it and the weather

Don't lie to yourselves there haven't been this smooth afcon broadcasting

See clean camera angles and sharp replay lol

Forget Youth tournaments...Talk about the senior team.
Morocco's current run including their SF appearance at the World Cup is more impressive than anything the Super Eagles have ever done in their history..

A semi final run also done by South Korea in 2002 and then what?
Historically Morocco are still underachievers in African football. 1 Afcon title won in 1976.

And, why forget youth tournaments? Why forget women's football and all others? The point is total football achievements across all levels. Nigeria trumps by a wide margin and Nigeria's 5th rank in World football will never be toppled by any other African team. Morocco is 12th now right. That's good.

Nigeria can't host an AFCON in terms of what? Finance or what?
Edu93:
Nigeria can't even host Nations Cup nowadays. They have to involve Benin or Togo grin grin grin

I am also sick of people clouded by recency bias to not see the truth.

Who says we should sit down and not improve? Who says our administration is best in the world? Is it not still I who hit the NFF and other relevant authorities? So stop throwing around the obvious as if it is just you who see the wrong.

But still, did we not reach the final of the last afcon?? Where did Morocco reach at the last Afcon after the fine 2022 WC run? Where now?

Look, Nigeria is clearly Africa's biggest and most successful football nation all round. Nothing anyone says erases this fact. The history is there and stands tall for all to see and know. 1 year of downtimes does not delete it.

QueenJazz:
Doesn't mean we should sit on our bums because we have achieved so much.

Administration needs to step up their game and do the needful so that we can enjoy sports in the country again the way it used to be in the 80s and 90s. I'm sick and tired of people daydreaming about the past even though our present is in shambles.

Let's do things right and restore that national pride and confidence in our football.

Debating with someone who thought we got the "Giant of Africa" tag cos of football is a waste of time!
When we were winning al those you listed where was Morocco?
minfelix:
i like as most people dey always come out to defend this country 😂😂…its good sha, thats d spirit of patriotism for you…..but make we talk true…currently if we check things that makes us got that tag “giant of africa”, omo those things are slowly vanishing

- last hosting something major (u17 world cup 2009) almost 20yrs ago now
-presenting world class stadium ❌(only Uyo 30k capacity and maybe Abuja 60k capacity can compete with africa’s top stadia
- back to back winning or representing and doing well in male age grade soccer(u17 last won in 2015 10yrs ago, u20 best performance was in Holland 2005 20yrs ago, U23 olympic last best performance was 2016 rio 11yrs ago we dont even use to qualify to that one again sef
- Last CAFCL club victory, Enyimba 2005 20yrs ago
-Last senior men best world cup performance was 2014 11yrs ago, last world cup appearance 2018 7yrs ago

Na only female football still dey give us small bragging right
while Osimhen and Lookman managed to still put us on the map of african giant by winning back to back AFPOTY, and then super eagles reaching afcon final last edition still making us have small hope to call ourselves giant……infact delving into other sports where we normally use to rack up gold medal at the olympics, we no get hope again for that area…other african nation are slowly filling up these spaces especially Morocco, those guys in the nearest future will start to claim giant of africa oo🤣🤣
- hosted wafcon back to back to back
- got to wafcon final back to back to back, if they mistakenly lift am wahala don dey
-recently won the AFPOTY
-got to world cup semifinal
-recently won age grade competition (u17wc)
-hosting tournament like water from afcon to wafcon to u17 wafcon and will b hosting the FIFA world cup in 2030

issokaaay make we dey watch sha

Please I want to ask a few questions. If FIFA overrides Congo won't Cameroon and other teams that were opportuned to play them in the preliminary stages start their own protests too? Which time would there be to set up a knockouts tournament to decide who would play Jamaica in the fixture congested season next year? Or do people believe we'll automatically be chosen just like that cause we played them in the final?

Security challenge in my opinion is the only serious threat to us being able to host the AFCON...
You seem to forget the type of government we have....If it comes to it, they will secure the funds needed to host the tournament

Don't forget that we once put in a bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth games although we lost the bid, we didn't pull out and it was fully backed by the government...

Hosting the AFCON won't be that hard... We already have the stadiums available, what they need is an upgrade..

And I repeat, if our government want to, they can, and will secure the funds to host it

And so the **** what?

BAT making a push doesn't automatically translate to execution. We've seen countless grand declarations followed by nothing.

Cameroon has functional systems. Our problem isn't just funding. It's corruption, accountability gaps, and inability to complete projects. Political will without institutional capacity won't achieve jack squat.

Baba. no be say you talk but I talk the same thing after that DR Congo gane. Lookman is probably the only Super Eagles forward that drops into the half-spaces between the midfield and attack, and carries the ball forward. He brings dynamism to our play and should be starting ahead of other forwards as the second striker.

This was my post after the DR Congo game.

semid4lyfe:
I agree. I'll add that Lookman too shouldn't have been removed when he was. Twice in the first half, he got behind the Congolese right back.

The first substitutions that ought to have been made was removing Iwobi for Onyedika or Alhassan to shore up the midfield.

Then maybe later when the pressure was mounting switch to a 5 man defence and 5-3-1-1 by introducing an Awaziem or Ekong in the 2nd half. Ejuke and Simon were very ineffectual both offensively and defensively, and only brought pressure on on our wing backs, especially Benjamin Fredericks.

Then other substitutions would have followed based on the flow of the game. Well hindsight is 20-20. I hope we meet DR Congo and SA in the AFCON. I wan see wetin go sup.

Problem is Eric Chelle may be punished by FIFA/CAF disciplinary committee for his conduct during the penalty shootout, and may be given a touchline ban . So he may not sit on the bench in our first few games at the AFCON.
