Odunayaw:Perhaps it's simply your lack of understanding. Political will without feasible systems, institutional frameworks, accountability mechanisms, and anti-corruption measures repeatedly fails. History shows countries with strong desire but weak systems don't succeed. The distinction matters because solutions require concrete structural changes, not just leadership claiming commitment. For instance, and without belaboring the details, China tried doing what Morocco has done today. They wanted to become football superpowers but they went about it the wrong way. |

NasirIbnLaAhad:We might not need to do much if we set at it, we don't need to be like Abu Dhabi or geneva to do that, every country has it's problems but you have to also show you're somewhat capable too to dissuade the premonition those giving rights have of you. simple as that |

Kilishihunter:Because we don't want too and not because Nigeria lacks the capacity. Nigeria has infrastructure to host AFCON. Stadiums Transportation (road, airports and train) Good hotels Inter city security What else do they have we don't have? |

Kilishihunter:Very well said. As long we continue to show unseriousness, FIFA or CAF is not obligated to serve you on a platter just because you are Nigeria. |

NasirIbnLaAhad:Nigeria is a federation and most of the sports facilities are state owned including the one in uyo. It behoves on the states govt to maintain or upgrade the facilities. If the national stadium in Lagos was state owned I can assure you it would have been better maintained and upgraded. I think The FG tried to hand it over to the Lagos govt years ago but over sabi people kicked against the idea and today the stadium is still abandoned. Believe whatever you want to believe about insecurity whether in the US or anywhere but the numbers are way higher than that of terrorism in Nigeria. The perpetrators identified as jihadists is what gives the impression that Nigeria is worse but in terms of numbers omo naija no near the US at all. |

Bossoflife25:This ur excuse doesn't make any sense at all Football is football Did they play well or not (that's the issue here ) I'm not discrediting super eagles, the point here you can play well today and fumble tomorrow Football isn't straight forward or do you want to tell me that they also played 240 minutes when they drew to small teams like zim and lesotho |

Work load on Iwobi reduced and his close to the box with Akinsanmiro bossing the midfield. Since he's box to box player. Ndidi covering the defense. Sanusi and Osayi helping the defence, closing up midfield, busting forward for crosses and pressing. Osimhen amd Lookman wrecking havocs. What is missing here my people?

Not winning Olympic medals are some of the ills of the country? What is stopping you from winning one? How many Olympic medal have we won self? Lack of information is a disease! In fact, there was no time in our sporting history we have track and field talent as we do now! We have the current World Record holder in women hurdles but peeps like you won't amplify that, na to cry today, cry tomorrow... There was no time in our history we have multiple NCAA champions in several events as now! You think if you are not doing so well, others aren't too. Sit up, guy! minfelix: |

Goke7:Whether federal or state-owned, there needs to be accountability and consistent funding mechanisms. That's not an excuse. As for the insecurity bit, we can drop that part of the convo if you don't have the stats. I'm not going to take verbal affirmation. |

Senegal was given a ridiculous penalty to draw Zim at AFCON 2021 THAT THEY WON. SOUTH AFRICA DREW ZIM AT HOME. SO WHAT IS YOUR POINT EXACTLY? Elock1: |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by NasirIbnLaAhad: 2:03pm On Dec 22, 2025 |
forgiveness:Oga we lack consistent maintenance culture. That's the key difference. Other countries do renovations, yes, but they maintain baseline standards year-round, so upgrades are incremental, not emergency overhauls. But as for us, we let facilities decay completely, then scramble when tournaments approach. Look at those requirements you listed. We struggle with basic upkeep of most items. It's not about occasional renovations but sustained organization and preventive maintenance and that's where we tend to fall short. |

Odunayaw:Look at you championing will while ignoring that every corrupt official also willed their theft. Without accountability structures, good intentions mean nothing. And your semantic prevarications do not remotely address why Nigeria consistently struggles where structured approaches succeed. |
