Bossoflife25:Corruption, Lack of facilities and basic social amenities. The country is in a mess. Imagine the country hasn't hosted a nation's cup since year 2000. The current CAF president has been pressuring the Nigerian Government to host all to no avail |

Spare me the sanctimony and show me where it is stated as a criteria NasirIbnLaAhad: |

Odunayaw:It's embedded throughout the requirements: pitch quality standards, stadium conditions, training facilities, medical equipment functionality etc. These don't maintain themselves magically before tournaments. The criteria assume ongoing upkeep, not emergency fixes. If you can't see that functional infrastructure requires consistent maintenance between inspections, that's a reading comprehension issue you'll have to solve on your own. I can't help you. |

Odunayaw:We lost the bid because our facilities sucked. Do your research and stop mumbling inanities. |

Anyone who is following knows you've been tripping over yourself with your strawman"it's not a will problem bbbut we need commitment and willingness to make sustained investments and reform. And that's not will means!" 😂 NasirIbnLaAhad: |

NasirIbnLaAhad:What’s the big deal is losing a bid? England lost the bid to host the World Cup that Qatar hosted does that make England incompetent or corruption ridden? Please rest you’re just trying to indict Nigeria at all costs, it’s not that deep. Every outcome out there cannot always be used to bash the country. A bid is either won or lost. Countries bid to host the Olympics and a winner is announced will that always be an indictment on the others who took part in the bid? Haba |

Odunayaw:Let me use smaller words: wanting thing ≠ having ability get thing. Need both want AND tools. Nigeria has want, lacks tools (systems). Tools = institutions, laws, enforcement. This simple enough, or should I draw pictures? Do you need a coloring book, hmm? |

Ah yes, read into the requirements to argue your point. NasirIbnLaAhad: |

TheSuperNerd:No one cares about who wins the baby tournaments...they are for development of young kids...That's the main objective...For elite football nations. Winning them is secondary. It's the nonsense which is why Nigerian youth teams were fielding over aged players back then to impress the gullible Nigerian society. Since the MRI scan has been enforced strictly by FIFA Nigeria hasn't even come close to winning those youth tourneys. Yes Morocco have been underachievers in the AFCON but I do believe they're going to win one soon and the fact the fact that they're a genuinely good side who can match up to any team currently in world Football |

Goke7:England still hosted the Euros and other competitions since then. If losing bids is just normal competition, then why haven't we successfully hosted a major continental tournament in decades despite recent attempts? What's your explanation for the consistent pattern of failure that doesn't involve acknowledging our infrastructure and organizational deficiencies? |

It's only when it's time for Nigeria to host AFCON we hear things like promoting African Unity... Why can't Nigeria host a Nations cup by themselves... This is not the Fifa World Cup ffs!!! They will rather involve poor nations like Benin, Togo, Swahili !!! And still you will hear the deluded so called patriots chanting 'giant of africa' ![]() |

we all have different endurance and temperament to this patriotic thing….some will get to a point and mention the ills we are facing even while being patriotic while some will want to be adamantly patriotic till kpai do them and Nigeria part….so stop freaking out when when the short enduring patriots voice out the obvious…make una calm down Nobody is wrong…everyone here is right -Yes we are Giant of Africa!✅ -Yes we are now doing like mumu of Africa!✅ both facts are currently mixing up like aporo epa ijebu |
