The two biggest names in the Egypytian team stepping up hugely tonight vs Zimbabwe. The only World Class players in this Pharoahs team.

Egypt showed character, and that's expected from such a team! Congrats to them, well deserved

Hossam Hassan was a terror. Top class poacher and finisher. 1998 Afcon was his tournament.

Goke7:
Always nice seeing the Egyptian coach. A legend in his days as a player

As in eh my good man.

That is 8 finals. Lost 5, won 3.
We have underperformed in AFCON. That 2023 Final we really should have won it and gone 4 out of 8.

There’s also the number of semi-final appearances we’ve made…just shy of the final.

Like I’ve said. Between 2025 and 2027, we should really look to win 1 of 2. If there is a 2028 AFCON then we can aim for 2 of 3 before it moves to a 4-year schedule.

Truth is if we had won all those finals folks will still say it’s all in the past 😂

Make we win 10 Afcons dem go say na analogue era. Nothing can assuage them if they don’t feel good right now
if you win 10 afcon from past history and in the recent you com start dey do like jalopy, na small small nations go start dey taunt you and make jest with yeye narratives
- you won it when it was not competitive 🤣
-you won it in the era when there was no serious technology in football

in the competitive world, you must be on your A game consistently, else small children will automatically start turning you into their fellow minnows that they no longer fear again…not qualifying for back to back world cup is a name spoiler…especially now it has 9/10african powerhouse…and the giant is not there…

Who is taunting Egypt who won Afcon last in 2010? I guess they are now minnows ba

Bad officiating, and politics did us really bad! With VAR we would have won Morocco 1988, Nigeria/Ghana 2000, and Tunisia 2004. Without Abacha, we would have won 1996, and 1998.
jihday:
we are very unlucky when it comes to football, we made 2 U-20 final with no victory, Ghana and Morocco won the title on their first try, we’ve made more Afcon Semifinals than everybody else with just 3 titles to show for it

It's nobody's fault that you're incapable of seeing the shortcomings of the current Super Eagles. I'm sure in your mediocre mind, dropping out of the Round of 16 in this AFCON will be a commendable result, given that we already reached the final last year. That's the kind of expectation your logic perpetuates. And you have the audacity to demand better from your leaders. Average minds.

Why should they win it? They are still the most successful team in Africa. They have nothing to prove to you.

I understand tangible contributions. None of what you've said qualifies as tangible contribution, including this juvenile, hallucinatory gibberish you just posted here.

Yes, I am well acquainted with the Hassan Brothers. Hossam was the more popular. His brother, Ibrahim was a defender.
I understand he is national team director now with Hossam, his twin as head coach.

That ball weh Bassey nor pass still dey pain Chukwueze. Make Chuks sef calm down, Bassey was charged up in that moment, he thought he could get a goal.

Even Chuks weh dey yab Bassey sef fit still do the same thing, in fact he don do am many times sef for Nigeria, and that's even more shameful since he's a forward.

So he needs to free Bassey. If na me carry ball from defence reach that position sef, I fit still attempt to score.

It’s better for the to revel in past glory than live in the filth we have today.

LOL.

This is a cynical statement that assumes it is impossible to improve on our football. It's also a way to avoid taking accountability to make things better in the present.
