Okay. So I want to believe you are not one of those who say Pele was only great and not the GOAT because he featured in an era when "football was not competitive" and "played by plumbers and carpenters". Alright then.

Least I forget...

Gentlemen, gents, initially, I had decided not to host the annual Nairaland Nigeria Football Fans Award due to my busy schedule. But as it stands, I have a lot of free time on my hands until the new year, so I've had a change of heart
However, as always, the success of the award always depends on members of this thread, and I don't want to proceed without due approval.
I know many of us are still hurting from the world cup miss, but nevertheless, there's a few positives to take away from the football year, such as the super falcons winning the WAFCON and the revelation of some talents like Benjamin Fredrick..

On this note, I'd like members of the thread to vote on whether or not the awards should take place this year..

If you are in support of the award taking place this year, click "like". If you are not in support of the award taking place this year, click "share"
Voting ends at 11pm tomorrow.

Thank you

Na lie, All the so called big teams do recieve beating on few occasions. There is nothing like fear factor in African football. Juat have few good players and a good coach you will be good to go.
The Egypt you are talking about rarely qualifies for World cup and was knocked out in the R16 in the last AFCON Likewise Senegal, Ivory Coast was nearly knockedout in the Groupstages before they got their acts together to win, before that they havent done anything reasonable since 2015, that they won it, they also missed 2 world cups in a row. Morroco has not won AFCON since 1976, and only made the Semi in 2004 the only time for over 30 years. Ghana where knocked out of the AFCON group stage twice in a row, the other time it was round of 16, this year they failed to qualify altogether. SouthAfrica has been in the wilderness for years now. Tunisia own be say apart from 2004 that they hosted and used ojoro to win they have never done anything reasonable in Afruca football, always qualifying for World and ending up disgracing Africa.

grin It's a simple issue really. Many people here can't take what they dish out. They like to pretend they know best and act condescending to others when it comes to certain subjects and when you take them to task for their claims, they fold faster than a soggy tissue and try to troll their way out of it. That's how you get the unnecessary insults and aspersions.

so in this case, using a single player to debate this matter wont balance well….Pele is an individual that reigned in his time and still attained a legendary status…his legacy remian intact and would be still be celebrated, nothing to dent his legacy becos he is no longer existing in present day soccer…….in this case Super eagles is still existing, they once shook the world with super amazing showings, same brand “SUPER EAGLES” still exist today and currently we are seeing the same brand SUPER EAGLES” reducing the super amazing showings of the ones legendary super eagles brand…..
The brand and workings of Pele remains in people mind and the brand existence has a termination which is (retirement/death)

Super eagles brand can never die, so the longer it keeps existing the longer it should keep remaining competent

After David Moses, 21y/o... already shining good at Slavia Prague, another Naija CM talent is also on the radar, 18 y/o Mubarak Emmanuel Suleiman is his name. He played at the heart of Slavia's U19 midfield vs Arsenal U19s today in the Uefa Youth League and scored in a 5-1 win.

Arsenal U19s had the likes of Anglo Nigerians, Ife Ibrahim (MF) and Josh Ogunnaike (LB).

Tanzania will greet us with a 4-5-1 or 6-3-1. Unlocking them early and scoring on time will kill this game easily. Else, it will be another Comoros situation and we may not get more than 2 goals at best.
I just worry for our defence without Fredericks cause that lad really covers a ton of space and uses his body to win fouls well, I just hope either ajayi or ogbu would step up in his absence, as regards the attack I trust them to deliver

Because exaggeration and lies are not good for the public.

Your emotions shouldn’t be used as an excuse to mislead and misinform.

we should be able to get this result, if we serious….i see us as the first team to score more than 2goals in a match…lets just ignite that form against Benin and the extra time form against Gabon…we suppose flog Tanzania…..just that our results against teams like Uganda,Tanzania etc are usually cagey….under Oliseh, it was a 0-0 in dar es salam, return leg under Rohr it was a had fought Iheanacho outside box18 volley to beat them 1-0 in that inconsequential afconQ match
We have to win cause those other two games can be bogey for us, Tunisia is always a threat plus that Uganda don improve, I watched some of their world cup qualifiers and liked what I saw, quite physical

I havent seen any medium class African team, knock out Nigeria in any AfCON. Since we won it in 1994.
2000- Cameroon, 2002- Senegal, 2004- Tunisia[host], 2006- Ivrocoast, 2008 and 2010- Ghana, 2019- Algeria, 2021- Tunisa, 2023- Ivorycoast.
Even South Africa in this their current state is still afraid of Nigeria, i noticed it in our away game vs them. But all these other teams loses to lower team from A to Z. Infact in 2019, it was Benin that removed Morroco.,in 2012, Niger knocked out Senegal, i no wan talk about Ghana and the likes of Comoros and Mozambique.

I know that the world cup loss pained everyone, but Even Italy failed to qualify for 2018 WC, bounced back and won Euros 2020, they again failed to qualify for 2022, this year they are still in the play offs. If not for expanded WC they would have missed this one too. Even they Senegal and co we are hailing, their Football association didnt do anything special, they just happen to possess plenty of quality talents playing in Europe at this time. So all this doom and gloom talk no de too bother me.

Word on the streets is that Alebiosu has been a revelation during training, even though Chelle is more likely to start Osayi-Samuel tonight. If Alebiosu has a good game and proves himself worthy as future Super Eagles material, I don't see why he shouldn't start for the rest of the tournament.

Okay, but people still talk crap about his unmatchable achievements today. The Great Pele himself.

Also CR7 is yet to win anything in Saudi Arabia since his move to Al Nassr so this has seen folks also talk crap about him from a Saudi POV neverminding his continued success with Portugal.

Even Messi. Before he finally got his hands on the MLS cup this year, I remember the crap several folks said about him struggling to conquer in America.

So the thing is people will always talk. Always.
